DOC Espresso reviews
84The pasta in this place is amazing. I would only keep it second to tipo. Both their Pomodoro and fettuccine are standouts to me.
Horrible. Waited 30 minutes being completely ignored by waiters, then after everyone being served around us we decided to leave after unsuccessfully being unable to call a waiter as they were ignoring us. Then went to pay and staff were still standoffish. Would expect better service from a place that charges $15 for a regular coffee and normal orange juice.
Partner got me this $10 tiny cup of blood orange juice for takeaway.cup was half filled w ice.juice was actually good but substantially overpriced.
Interesting pasta combinations! Zucchini cream with crab and porcini pasta. Both were amazing! Just staff was not so friendly? Didn’t look at us when they were serving us and when we order. And also look annoyed cos of that time was busy? But except that all good!
Don't come here if all you want is a simple cup of coffee, or pasta, as you'll also typically be served an undesirable amount of male arrogance from the waiters.
Unfortunately not much has changed post-lockdown.
This is Italian as you can get outside Italy. Great produce like cheeses charcuterie alcohol etc
The service at DOC Espresso was truly revolting. The wait staff’s bratty attitude, deplorable table manor and general distain for being there made us all so uncomfortable we could barely eat.
When they weren’t hovering over our table, making passive aggressive remarks and rolling their eyes, they were looming over us, tisking and rushing us passive aggressively so they could clear the table. We weren’t there for more than 40 minutes yet our presence seemed such an inconvenience. Some of our party took it quite personally and were genuinely hurt.
The food, honestly, was fine (squid ink was good, ragu- so so) but can be expensive for what you’re getting and not at all worth being treated so poorly.
So if you’d like to eat somewhere without some kind of entitled superiority complex parading around with your over priced and genuinely mediocre pasta, I swear to you there are better Italian places to spend your money in Melbourne. All for a fraction of the cost and literally none of the overtly holier-than-thou demeanour.
Ok so it’s popular - so popular a group of unmasked people were hugging as they sang happy birthday to a recent arrival to celebrate the coffee outlet - not interested in health rules compliance?
Expensive even by Lygon Street standards but authentic Italian cuisine. Try the Spaghetti Carbonara!
The food deserve better rating but the customer service not even 1star. Very rude staff that couldn't care less to make you feel welcome for me the customer service is the first thing in a restaurant even more importantant than the food so we won't go back
Excellent, authentic friendly cafe. Fiery old Italians arguing over espressos and toasty heaters outside that drive away the winter chill of Melbourne. Not overpriced. Lovely place to enjoy a slow weekend breakfast.
Decent place with OK service. While the wait staff are friendly, it's sometimes hard to get their attention to order food. Speaking of, the food is.fine? Not outstanding by any measure but there are a few better pasta restaurants around in Melbourne including tipo. So in conclusion, not a bad place to eat, but why would I eat here instead of the other places?
Rude waitress swiped my plate before I had finished eating. My plate was close to me with my knife and fork on either side which indicates that one hasn't finished. A finished plate has a knife and fork in the middle and pushed away from the person. My friend was showing me photos on his phone and the waitress just swiped my plate and threw my napkin on it without having the decency to ask me if I had finished. I told her that although there wasn't alot of food left on there I wasn't finished eating and was looking forward to finishing the last bit and she shoved the plate back down in front of me. I was horrified and put in an embarrassing position. Rude. My friend said his pasta was bland also.
We had Breakfast with friends - Vegetarian Focaccia melted in your mouth and Good quality Latte. Service was great too and the location is great
Very fast Cafe.they are very expensive for take away pasta. ($30+per portion). Clearly outrageous!
Wait staff were so incredibly rude that I was actually quite hurt. Their crassness and general distain for us totally ruined our night. When the wait staff weren’t hovering over our table making passive aggressive remarks and rolling their eyes at us, they were looming over us, tisking and rushing us so they could clear the table. We weren’t there more than 40 minutes. The food honestly was fine (squid ink was delicious, ragu was so so), but not worth the pain of sitting through probably the worst table service I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’ll never be back.
Nice sandwiches and friendly staff. It's a shame they run out of food so quick. You have to get in quick to make sure you get what you want as once it's sold out That's it.
The food is incredible, as always. The service is not great but the ambience is worth it. It's hard to fault and the food was delicious. #docexpresso
A great Italian cafe, with a vibrant atmosphere. The food is always delicious, it's obvious that very fresh ingredients are used and dishes are prepared with a lot of care a passion.
A great place to go before or after seeing a movie at Nova. Especially around lunch time or during the afternoon.
Nice food, nice place. A bit expensive and service is a bit slow. But always a fun experience. The manager or owner looked a bit grumpy, always stayed behind the cash register. But the other staff were fantastic, and made the lunch worth the visit.
