Kids will certainly enjoy the ride. Moreover they will understand the functioning of steam engines

July 2023 review: still great after all these years. Ticket prices now $4 but that's still great value for money. Seems with volunteer staff shortages, they now only operate from one platform (not making use of the second platform on the other side of the bridge) so the queues are quite long.

October 2018 review: Run by friendly and enthusiastic volunteers. The $3 is a bargain for the awesome 18 minute ride.

Highly recommended

Run by a group of friendly and passionate people. Extremely pleasant experience for me and my 8-month old babies. We would definitely visit again.

Diamond Valley Railway Inc. This 184 mm (7¼") gauge railway is located in parkland close to the Diamond Creek, this Mini train station is currently closed, but I was very surprised it is so mini size when I went to there with my family month ago. The train puffed past the forest, mountain views, the cave, the iron bridge, and the traffic signs flashed with red and blue lights. It was so beautiful. Both adults and children had fun and unforgettable memories. I hope that the epidemic will end soon and everyone can go by train again. It is really fun.

$4 for a 15 minute ride is great value.children and lots of adults love it. The detail of the different trains is amazing. It runs on Sundays and at night occasionally and on Wednesdays during school holidays. The evening/night ride which was different in a good way. In Covid times need to book online.

Best place for kids to enjoy the model trains. It’s for adults too. $4 entry fee and opening time is 11. I suggest go 30 min before to avoid the long queue. Moderate parking around the ground. The staffs were very friendly and always smiling:) Will definitely come back.

We loved it! The trains are so interesting and the ride takes you through tunnels, across bridges and around the parkland. Lots of fun waving to the other trains zipping around and even a steam locomotive.
Next to the railway there is a park with picnic area and even pony rides near the car park!

A great place for the whole family, especially little kids who love trains, even for the young at heart. Should have more places like this around Melbourne

Excellent day out for families. Enough to keep the little ones busy whilst waiting in the long queue. Arrive early and expect a long-ish wait.

We have been to this place few times and every time we had lots of fun. Unlike before, now the entry is taking a while with long queues (we waited approximately 30mins). Entry fee is $4 per person and the ride is roughly 15mins. Train ride is quite interesting as you go inside tunnels. There’s a beautiful play area next to this. Overall it’s a great day out for the whole family.

Current covid restrictions are a joke. 500 people crammed into the playground is fine, but only 10 people allowed on a train with tickets booked online and 2 days in advance. Ruined a great attraction

This place is epic. Kids, and boys over 60years of age will be mesmerised by the 7.5in gauge railway. With a variety of rolling stock modelled after real trains, and very reasonably priced rides on the quite long track, this place is highly recommended.

One of the best places you can take the kids! Prices are amazing and all the staff are kind and welcoming! Just make sure you book online during covid so you don't miss out

A ride on the cannonball express with Casey Jones was great. Loved the part where a gang of outlaws stopped and robbed the train. Great setup, worth a visit for a train ride and picnic.

Fun short ride your little kids will enjoy. Ride lasts about 10 minutes. If you're in the area, you should come for a quick visit. Waiting lines can be longer than the actual ride itself.
