65 Gluten Free Foodies listen up, 98% Gluten Free menu!
Fantastic atmosphere, the cafe/restaurant is located in the National Wool Museum! The staff are fabulous, helpful and friendly, which is an absolute plus for us!
The Food is delicious and a highlight for us is that 98% of the menu is gluten free
The Menu is meant for sharing, so hubby and I shared, our server gave us some great recommendations, which we followed. We started with the Baked Halloumi w/apricot & pine nuts (gf) and the Wood Fired Garlic Pizza (gf). For mains we shared the Native Saltbush & Lemon Pepper Roasted Half Chicken (gf), Roasted Red Cabbage w/butter bean puree, parsley, pine nuts & lime dressing (gf) and Triple Cooked Chat Potatoes w/rosemary and sea salt (gf). All our choices were amazing and so, so tasty. We will definitely be going back very soon. We also felt the pricing was reasonable.
Our first visit to Black Sheep and loved everything about it. For a NYE celebration it was fabulous. The food was wonderful, a free sparkling on arrival (gotta love that!) and amazing service even though it was really busy. Well done team Black Sheep. I've already told friends how fabulous you are. Had a wonderful night of dining here this evening. Both of our wait staff, Emma and Chloe, were excellent; friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
Our food was exceptional. The babaganoush was the best we've had, followed by the mushroom risotto and pumpkin gnocchi, which were also fantastic. We learnt that the chef, Norbert, is quite a perfectionist and it certainly shows. One of the best meals we've had for a long time.
The goulash is damn delicious. I left the black sheep so satisfied in the biggest food coma all the way home.obsessed!
Think twice before booking your special occasion here. I made a dinner reservation over 2 months ago for my daughters birthday. I did it so far in advance because it was a special occasion and I didn’t want to miss out for that particular evening (which is next week). After I made the booking I received the confirmation email and everything was in order. Earlier today I get an email saying the manager made an error and they have a private dinner booking that night and requested I change the day. I was shocked to be honest. So they realise less than a week out that the whole restaurant is booked and need to cancel our reservation. I wrote back straight away and asked if there was anything we could do because it was an important booking to us. I never received a response. Now I have to break the news to my daughter has been so very much looking forward to her birthday dinner and hopefully find another restaurant in time. Pretty bad!
Thus is a truly special place not just historically but now as a fantastic dinning experience of great service, flavours and environment. Excellent for meeting friends for dinner. It should also be noted, especially in the current climate of how knowledgeable and pleasant the staff are!
Fantastic experience! The food was amazing - had a risotto and Baba Ghanoush. The cheese soufflé was to die for! Ordered the gin testing paddle - that was a hit! Loved all gins. Highly recommend!
Loved this place! Food was delicious, staff were lovely, and the vibe was really fun - located in the old wool mill. Awesome location short stroll to the waterfront. Will be back
Lovely atmosphere, great service, even better food. Very accommodating to gluten free dietary requirements. Legally can't guarantee it but I'm usually very sensitive and have eaten here a few times with no issues.
Awesome little secret this one. Brilliant food and service and, if you're a fan of gin, you really must go
Went with a small group, two of us ordered the forest mushroom risotto. It was like a bowl of steamed rice, no flavour or seasoning and very few mushrooms. The service was great but thought they could’ve offered us a free coffee after we told them about our meals which we left half eaten.
Nice venue and staff, food missed the mark.
We popped in for lunch to escape the heat having heard good things. Firstly the venue is excellent, spacious, roomy and lots of character. Kudos for soft furnishings which work to dampen the noise. So many restaurants are deafeningly noisy with concrete walls, floors, chairs being dragged across the floor. A cacophony!
We went for the lunch $45 feed me menu. The two starters were underwhelming, garlic pizza bread and calamari. The heavy menu continued with roast pork, chicken, gravy, potatoes, ratatouille, ravioli, greens and more pizza. It was 36 degrees outside, a summer menu this was not! The pork was good but in general the menu was far too heavy and wintery for January. The ravioli was clearly from a packet and the pizza too stodgy and cheesy.
Staff were very attentive but the menu really missed the mark.
What a great place! Friendly staff, delicious food, great atmosphere and vibe! Definitely will come again.

Fantastic Sunday lunch experience for a family reunion here. We ordered the Chef's Choice for everyone and it did not disappoint. Great food and attentive staff made for a wonderful afternoon.
Great place with great food cheese souffle and kids meals where great. Service was a little disorganised and lack lustre.
Attended a function the day after the GF. Great food and service. Friendly and efficient staff. Have also been for dinner several times. Great venue.
Fantastic! We held a work conference here and the food was great. Paul helped me organise the event and was so lovely and helpful. The girls that night Michelle, Riley & Mikeala were lovely and helped the night run so smoothly. Thanks to the team at black sheep! Will definitely be back:)
We were all dissapointed with the food served last night for the feed me deal. Firstly over price for what you got. Hock pork roast and chicken roasted. Tasteless and bland, no flavour's. Gravy was watery and tasteless. Garlic flat bread was oily. Vegatable's under seasoned, only nice thing calamari was OK, dessert was good presentation and some flavours. What the chef decided to give us is so mething you serve for a Sunday lunch roast! This is just home cooking not appropriate for a feed me offer. Drinks were nice and staff were helpful.
Great food and good selection of drinks. That night there was a shortage of staff so the service was a bit slow. No big deal, you do what you can! Good vibe for sure.
