I started my degree at Deakin in 2016 and so far it has been a good experience. I had to delay some of my studies due to some personal circumstances and the staff at School of Psychology were very helpful in walking me through pro's & con's of different pathways.

My only one complaint is that I was at a really low point in my life a few months ago and decided to reach out to the student counseling service for help. My experience was underwhelming. It took a while for their psychologist to contact me via phone as it as during Covid (at that stage I wasn't feeling as bad anymore). I didn't feel any different or understood from talking to her for two (or maybe 3) sessions. I also didn't gain any useful info from the sessions so I decided to look for help elsewhere. It was really disappointing that for a uni with such a great psychology course, their counseling service was well below standards.

Going to deakin and studying Biomed was the biggest mistake of my entire life. It's just slightly more useful than using toilet paper. Useless degree and a useless uni.

For all the student who is going to study at Deakin I recommend you do not study Bachelor of Information Technology, most of core unit of this degree is useless, about half of all core units just teach you to be a good employee of an enterprise and UI design, which is not related to the hard technology. But the rest of IT-related degree like Bachelor of AI/Cyber security looks well.

My daughter's graduation several years ago was a great experience. However, my son just graduated law last night & there was not ceremony, no certificate hand over, nothing but walking around outdoors in the mud to have photos taken & purchase some very expensive trinkets.
After years of long hours spent on intense study & accruing a large bill to pay off, you would expect something a little more gratifying.
Using covid as an excuse, at this already long delayed event, just doesn't cut it.
I am thoroughly disappointed & even disgusted with Deakins lack of care and consideration.
I greatly appreciate the speedy response that has been offered. However, I find it difficult to accept, at this stage, that covid should prevent a ceremony in your very large hall considering the small number of graduates still left here in Victoria & the ability to spread everyone safely throughout the hall.
I believe, as mentioned on 3aw, Universities appear to be using covid as a guise to cut back on general spending. This to me is no longer acceptable.

Not where you want to invest in your education. I asked if there were any study assistance services and was encouraged to drop out of my course. Then when I disagreed I was transferred to the Disability Services department (without any introduction) and that was just today. Also was verbally abused in front of my class by a teacher and was then failed for an assessment - it was a lab assessment and my partner had an identical copy of my worksheet but he passed and I was failed. Awful experience so far in my degree. Really unprofessional and apathetic attitude.

This is not a place you want to waste your money at. I have completed 16 units at this University and they refuse to give me a degree. Please go to some cheaper colleges in the city who provide same level of education and are student friendly.

2021 is a year of fees hike and changes. It is more important than ever to focus on imperatives closer to heart rather than by the dictates of others. I have been accepted into Arts & Health Sciences degree. Been wanting to study Ufology (the flying saucers, alien conspiracies & abductions variety) for a long time. Deakin's flexibility allows me to explore the occult and study towards the somatic field. Not many universities offer such freedom- allowing dreamers of all stripes and persuasions to fall upwards* and land a job.

Bring students to australia as soon as possible. Please do some arrangements for international students like quarantine facility, charter or any other special flights
Give the best quarantine plan and all necessary things to government.

Poor quality. I feel like students graduate from this university are not capable of many things and are mostly below employers’ expectations.

About to graduate, hopefully!
The best facilities you could find in a university. Everything fitted professionally and the staff are friendly. The online environment which meets your needs any time and any place.

The staff are really friendly. It’s a very large campus. But they will help you get around it. Really loved it. Well clean and highly helpful signs all over the campus. Can’t wait to study there.

Absolutely incompetent "Academics" who are archaic and have no industry experience. This is the last place on earth I would entrust for "education". TEQSA should shut down this totalitarian disgrace to Australia.

I've never attend any after-school classes until I got into this uni. You can't pass the exam even if you participated in all the lectures!

Statement from Deakin, “I’d like to acknowledge the error in our initial email to you on 2nd September (omission of the term ‘minimum percentile rank” Statement from acer because ACER is responsible for their entrance exams, ”you DO NOT qualify for a refund and ACER is NOT involved in the University selection process”. Now I am considering not studying in Australia if I continue to be met with such exclusionary practices that do not provide qualification for the money being invested. If I am charged hundreds of dollars to achieve 60% and the goal itself of 60% is met then I should be refunded because if the target is higher then I would reserve less spaces for educated guessing. The site stated, "Deakin adjusted atar 65". Having studied college courses and invested so much of resources and time I expected opportunities, but this is not the case. The seas applications do not seem to have been successful, so I've deleted them in exchange for more credible preferences. I had followed advice from their school and selected eight different law related qualifications which I was told to meet their criteria, but as of information received from acer regarding entry requirement this preference has been changed. I would rather have an option to study any degree in any of the three selection dates as opposed to being left with nothing or even considering a low level qualifications. The issue is that the law degrees, which I had intended to study do not reflect the criteria I was told. Therefore I feel what this school has produced is a a very weak form of entrance.

Stat is not a good measurement of integrity to just have a multiple choice for entrance, and those stat test materials and resources that cost hundreds of dollars, are not relevant to the real examination so I am not sure what is being measured, but what is clear is it is not comparable to year 12 University Entrance, For these reasons I feel this school has a very weak framework.

And to have a school which judges people based on abcd tests, and nothing more discredits the quality of law degrees in Australia.

They use a system of measurement that is not relative - the ranking system is based on incomparable metrics that can easily be guessed, but hopefully they will improve their system not to discredit academic merit and make an entrance into law unfair.

It is rather difficult that I have had late responses from these entities involved in the testing that has raised a lot of questions in regards to the percentile, and as this has come so late it has been very difficult to figure what to do next to meet the new criteria and subject changes, this is because I was not told by the Deakin university staff.

I received an email from Deakin university stating 60% and frankly there is a big difference between percentile and percentage.

So please use the exact terminology. As I don't meet criteria I don't issue can be resolved by means of dialogue, however small issues can become bigger issues with regard to future admissions and deadlines. And Deakin university is not particularly equitable in the sense that reverse unfortunate circumstances as they do not consider any achievement in the last 4 years nor do they offer much certainty in regards to their methods

The campus is just mind blowing. Not just the outer infrastructure, but also the classrooms, lecture theatres, library, are designed too good. The best part is it’s a Smoke free campus, and you could find lot of greenery. The very first day I been here, I felt like I was in a Netflix’s Set. It’s damn fabulous campus I’ve ever seen. All the facilities provided are too useful for everyone here. One of the best universities in Australia. My wife follows a master by research work in Biotechnology at Deakin.

The university gave us a warm welcome to both of us during the week of orientation. They had organised few more events and presentations to make us more comfortable in the country

Deakin staff repeatedly & viciously targeted me (im disabled) until I wanted to end my life. The complaints portal ignores you and is a waste of time.
