David's reviews
73 Beautiful little restaurant hidden off the main road. Always excellent service. Food is delicious and plentiful. They cater for non-dairy allergies and vegan. Variety of drinks to complement.
Have been here a couple of times to celebrate some family events and they have always accommodate any changes we have made to our booking. Will continue to return. But will always make a booking.
Parking is an issue as it's near Chapel st but you always manage to find street parking nearby or a parking bay somewhere not far if you plan ahead.
Went for the vegan yum cha. Very filling and delicious. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming.
Potentially 4 or 5 stars but not when one goes in a group. Then the only choice is the banquet menu. The order of food came was all over the shop. Peking duck came out after the fried rice! Probably staff shortage too because service was not as good as it used to be.
Reliably delicious food.
Cheapest red wine was $65.00 which lost them a star
The restaurant was not too noisy & tables well spaced. Waiting staff attentive
The food here wasn’t bad but unfortunately the staff were not very helpful or friendly during our dinner
We love eating at David’s. The staff are very helpful with dietary requirements and are so friendly. They give beautiful advice on what to order and the food doesn’t disappoint. Always so tasty and delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant and they are child friendly too. A regular for our Saturday evening dinners xxx
An excellent yum cha lunch. $62pp on a Sunday ($60 on other days). None of the dishes disappointed and the white chocolate dumplings were an excellent dessert. It was unlimited but you probably won’t go past the one serving of each dish anyway.
The food was okay, nothing exceptional, below average service levels. Very far from "the best Shanghainese yum cha in Melbourne". Decor was pleasant and light, well suited for Sunday brunch.
It's annoying to receive three marketing emails from David's following one booking. The space itself could have encouraged me to give them a second try, but I'm petty and spiteful and the emails were annoying, so I'll probably give it a miss.
We had the set menu- David's Selection, and left the restaurant feeling extremely full and satisfied. My favourites were the crackling pork, prawn dumplings (har gow) and the pork belly. Flavours were authentic Asian. But I felt that the bun/dumplings' skins could be thinner, and I think the pork belly could be more tender. Nonetheless, a good meal overall. Place was packed by the way, so do consider making a reservation before heading down.
Came in for the set menu on a Sunday, the food was amazing and service was really good, especially as the food started coming really quickly! Loved the white choc dumplings they served for dessert
Such a fantastic experience! We had the veg (vegan) banquet and every dish was incredible and we left feeling full. Staff were all so lovely and attentive, we will definitely be back!
I was here long time ago, good to be back.the food and the interior are staying the same! The fried rice taste great, so fluffy, kong pan chicken are so tender, flavourful.
Xiao Long Bao aren’t juicy as before, taste good though.the drink are not too bad, pretty refreshing.
An absolutely great idea to serve Yum Cha. Pretty much every dish was delicious. You are served every dish on the menu and plenty enough for each party member. Then you are asked which dishes which you would want more of. Yep, a great dining experience. And, the staff are very helpful and courteous.
Service was nice, people were friendly and welcoming. Food very fresh and tasty, and great tea variety. A bit pricey but it's worth the shot.
We live 90 mins away so Providoor delivered yum cha today. SO Delish, fresh and tasty. Easy to understand instructions, even a recommended Spotify play list. Happy!
Always enjoyed the dining experience at David’s, whether for dinner or their excellent yum cha on weekends.
Their service is always excellent, friendly / attentive and very accommodating with dietary requirements.
Food is delicious and made for sharing so I’d recommend inviting more friends so that you can experience a broad range of their great dishes.
Stars are for san choi bao, BBQ pork bun and customer service. Staff were nice, food was impressive at the start then things got disappointing. Authentic yumcha should not have fried chicken and calamari.
We booked a table at 1: 30pm. The round finished at 2: 45 when one staff asked if we wanted to order something else. We ordered a bit and then 15 mins later which means at 3pm we asked to order extra food and was told the kitchen was closed. We should have been notified about this in advance.
Ordered for heat at home and it was amazing! Delicious dumplings! Never eaten in but I can’t wait to come in once lockdown is over.
Not your typical Chinese restaurant - no red and gawdy lanterns or badly spelt menus. Great food and service. The food is cooked well and not overly priced. They do takeaways too
Ordered during lockdown 5.0…. Amazing! Flavour is beyond and the white chocolate dumplings are divine… thanks for making lockdown a little brighter
