Dargo Hotel reviews
59Something different, a genuine last frontier experience. Making great memories for the kids and family with the log cabin and customer service.
What a Pub a must see it's got everything go see stay excellent service food beer wine
Last weekend, me and 6 of my friends came up to celebrate my mates bucks party. We came and had tea, food looked absolutely amazing, unfortunately tasted horrible.
We all spent a great amount of money and sat out the front trying to enjoy a drink, we all were keeping quiet, one of the workers came out the front and questioned every single person about why we were there and what we had planned for the night and to
Keep away from everyone and made us feel very unwelcome. Told us to leave and to keep to ourselves? Not quite sure why as we all were keeping to ourselves. The pub itself is unreal. The service and food was questionable
Didn’t actually go to the pub, we got sidetracked and went to the general store across the street. Which was great. All sorts of essentials, including alcohol, burgers, snack food etc
We enjoyed our meal at the Pub, good steak, great Parmy. Good choice of beers.
We stayed in a log cabin, it was cold inside, the AC barely took the -3 out of the air, lucky for the electric blanket, good hot shower.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The first thing that greeted us as we entered the cabin, was the disgusting smell of the septic sewerage, which could be smelt in the cabin
There were no cooking facilities, bench space or cupboards to store our belongings
We were woken up every morning by the sound of trucks or electrical equipment.
So much for a peaceful getaway?
The cabin felt claustrophobic with no chairs or sofa to sit on
I would not recommend this place to anyone
We will never go back there again!
Response to DARGO hotel
Email 1.
Thank you for your prompt response.
We did bring this to the attention of your staff behind the bar, and we asked him to move us to the last cabin. He did not ask us
the reason for the move but said the last cabin was booked on Saturday night.
It is despicable that you, as the owner, knew about this problem with your septic, but, continued to take our money and house us in this cabin.
We would have appreciated learning about the septic ‘problem’ so we could have had a choice about staying at your hotel.
We would have appreciated a refund. Given your response, we will now notify the relevant bodies of the problem with the septic sewerage at your establishment in the near future.
Getting told off by a Toyota lady with scales for hands had a great night stay after having many beers.
After hours service for food well done to a couple of PATROL Lads who arrived late of a dusty trail from somewhere north who cooked there meal late.such a fantastic pub. For us who removed 63 trees off the trail on our way from Davies plane's, with an axe and broken winch rope and determination. Had a cracker of a night in this pub.thanks
Hopefully back for a stay January 2022. Back in May 2023 great stay in the cabins, great feed and fantastic talking to Geoff the town local had a great night and a few drinks were put away,
We arrived late after a bit of a rough morning at 13: 55hr. Food service said 12-2pm so as it was close to the wire. So I asked with a smiling face are you still serving food? After 3 staffs opinions we got an answer with a blunt ‘no steak’. So to confirm ‘you are still happy to serve us? ’. ‘No steak’ was my reply again.
After a few moments of deciding (and we were about ready) a miserable and grumpy women in the kitchen said ‘we haven’t got all day, it’s a holiday’ at which stage I felt we were not welcome. None of the 10 (yes 10) kitchen staff had a smile or a friendly demeanour.
We worked out.
I must say the bar staff were smiling and welcoming, but at this stage we didn’t even want a drink.
If you are not happy to serve, don’t open or get another job/ business.
The Dargo pub is obviously doing well, there are some great reviews, they obviously don’t need our custom. My husband, 7 year old daughter and I were so looking forward to visiting Dargo and truly wanted to patronise the Dargo Pub, but we have left very disappointed not with not eating the pub food, but the unfriendliness of the staff.
I certainly didn’t want to pay a surcharge for such grumpy and unfriendly service.
I do hope they enjoy the rest of their Easter though and the people still eating lunch were not rushed out.
N/A room stay.
I would like to apologise to the Dargo Pub community for the misunderstanding with our meals last week. It is an iconic bush pub with icy cold beer and a great atmosphere. Also very welcoming staff.
We stayed in the campground for 3 nights. We had dinner at the hotel the first night. It was enjoyable and a great atmosphere. The second, even though there was a big sign, at the entrance saying no music after 9pm and no revving of car engines, we had 2 groups near us that cranked up the music at 11pm and the other at 1am and the 2nd one went full blast next to us until 3.30am with his engine running, adding with revving of his engine. At 2 a.m, my husband went out and asked him to turn off the music and his car. His reply was one of the other. As the car exhaust was facing our vents, we had the car turned off. The music turned off 90mins later. If there are going to be rules in a campground, they need to be enforced to some extent. Other than that one night we loved the area.
Cabin was nice and rustic no TV or WiFi or any other modern facilities toilet kept running so that with the small fridge that were very noisy was annoying to sleep but being told off when ordering a meal for tea because we hadn't pre booked or ordered that we may have wanted a pub or counter meal on our stay was very odd as the cabin was very expensive and I have travelled worldwide and never been told off when asking for a pub meal
Dargo Hotel was fantastic, the staff friendly and the food great. We camped next the the river with hot showers and clean toilets provided. Shop across the road provided breakfast and coffee in the morning
The hotel and the staff are great. Camp area around the back is pretty but the crowds were rough. Too many campers with no respect for the campsite rules and nobody was policing it either. Groups of young guys making a lot of noise, swearing, lighting fires without pits and revving their cars early in the morning and late at night.
Stayed I'm the log cabin, was a fantastic experience and a must do whilst here. Wasn't anything 5 star however the atmosphere and experience more than made up for it, definitely a bucket list must do.
A classic Aussie pub feed. So good, we got the bbq chicken parmi and half portion of the Hawaiian chicken parmi. Everything was fresh and tasted great!
Dargo pub is the pinnacle of high country pit stops. From the food to the camping this place is a must see! 10/10
Service is rather poor, staff generally serve the regulars/locals first followed by the second class citizens from elsewhere. Some of the locals outside seem rather feral and appear to frown upon anyone that looks like they are from an urban or city setting. Without tourism this venue more than likely wouldn't be the same as it is today. In saying that food was good and a few of the staff were quite friendly and up for a chat.
Absolutely loved going for a ride out to Dargo on the motorbike with a mate.great beer great atmosphere and good people to boot.
I have never stayed in the rooms, so cannot comment on them. The food is great, quality and quantity.
Great food, Good value for money, very hospitable environment. The beer and food was amazing.
Stayed at the Inn, which was comfortable.
Great place to visit for that off road trip.
