Dandenong Ranges Horse Trail Rides

Yesterday I went for a two hour ride.

My horse was a percheron/thoroughbred cross. She was quiet & responsive. Superb horse. The owners were saying her mouth is a bit hard due to inexperienced riders but i found her extremely easy to control. I kept her on the bit & kept my body position balanced then her canter was great. On the first canter it was too fast but i didn't have her on the bit so it was my fault.

In the first hour we had a beginner so it was mainly walking. The beginner then returned. The next hour was much more fun with a decent amount of cantering and trotting.

The tracks are really wide and safe.

If you are an inexperienced rider only do the hour trip. Experienced riders should do the 2 hour trail. When you ring try and make sure you dont get inexperienced riders on the 2 hour trail otherwise you'll be doing mainly walking. I notice very inexperienced people are nearly incapable of trotting or even basic controls. Moreover, some dont listen to instruction. I tried to tell one woman how to hold the reins & she struggled to grasp the simple concept.

In essence, this is the best trail ride in melbourne with fantastic staff, horses & trails. The only critique is, yes the toilet, is not up to scratch.

My husband and I with our 2 girls aged 12 & 14 had a really fantastic experience. It's been 20 years since my husband and I had been on a horse, one of my daughters has never been on a horse.so we were all a little anxious at first. The leaders gave clear instructions, made us feel comfortable and extremely at ease. Horses were absolutely beautiful! We will definitely go back again.

Love coming here and have been a number of times but since moving have been riding mostly at Arthurs Seat so haven't been for about a year. Trails are lovely, nice horses, staff are ok depending on who takes you and if you want to have a conversation or not and require the customer service thing. Paul's great and a couple of the girls are good. As it's fairly slow to start with on the 2 hour ride it is good to have a chat to staff as I usually go by myself. I did go out once with a young boy who had absolutely no conversational skills so it was extremely boring as I think I was the only one on the 2 hour ride. Minor criticism. Have to agree with Mike - the toilet facilities are pretty ordinary but I've actually been to worse believe it or not! It was good value before they put their prices up by $20 a couple of years ago and now I guess it's still pretty low if you compare to beach rides but on a par with most other places. I'm not blaming them - horses are expensive and so is insurance! Ride does vary depending on what type of riders are there. The 2 hour ride is meant to be for experienced only but I've been and had complete beginners on it so have hardly cantered at all but other times have had lots of canters. Really do like it here and will be back as soon as I can to ride Clancy! Very quiet little horse but he will move if you want him to and just love that solid little neck in front of me!

Staff is very nice, supportive and friendly. My family and I enjoyed a first time ride with beautiful magical forest sceneries. I loved the whole experience! Unforgettable one!

I went a few weeks ago with a few of my horse riding friends️The trail ride was absolutely amazing:) We did walk, trot, canter and even did a nice gallop! I rode a horse named Wilson who I am now in love withWe are coming back in about a week, I really hope I ride him again, I love Wilson SOOOOO much! Overall the trail ride was amazing and I would definitely recommend it!: D

I had a wonderful ride yesterday! My friends and I had an amazing time!:) I rode Dakota who was great fun! All the horses are gorgeous and well behaved. We definitely will be coming back!

Only issue we had was the first time we went there was we drove straight past as there is no sign or anything indicating that that is the place, so be careful of that if you choose to go riding here!

My 12 year old daughter's dream was to ride a horse so I booked her in for a one hour trial ride.
She couldn't stop smiling the whole time and truly loved riding Ruby who was so gentle and quiet.
Everyone who works there, were very helpful which made my daughter's trail riding experience a wonderful memory.
She's going again and can't wait.

Had an awesome ride. Horses are perfectly behaved and lovely to ride just like I remembered. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the horses all look happy and healthy with a good weight even though its the middle of winter. Can't wait to go again.

Awesome! The 2hr ride has lots of variation between walking, trotting and cantering. Have been back a couple of times since and is still great!

Beautiful ride trail, the horses have a mind of their own. It's organised and workers are friendly. We had alot of fun and loved the horses.

Great experience! 1st time riding a horse. I will come back here again when i visit melbourne again!
