Dan Murphy's South Melbourne reviews
37Mer with hospitality and assistance. A staff member got me a trolley and assisted with the carton of wine
I mean, it's a Dan's, they are pretty same-samey, this one is pretty generously sized, particularly for a liquor store in the inner city.
It's Dan Murphy's. Walk in and it's like any other Dan Murphy's. They stock all the same booze as every other Dan Murphy's. It's just another Dan Murphy's.
It's a Dan's. You'd think that with their scale they'd offer more variety but there is rarely anything out of the ordinary.
Many choices for wine. Compared to other dollars, at least there are few choices of Sake. Thanks and appreciate it. Hope import more pure Japanese Sake.
The only upset is no rose from Rockford, SA. Sorry this is my favorite wine.
Still best place to buy wine
I don't know who provided me with better service Anne or Cat. Will definitely be going back. Ask for Cat or Anne it you're ever there and looking for some superb sauvignon blanc
Thanks for selling us beer for the wedding we had with 7 day date on it. Not once where we told you would not return any beer that has been in a cold room. So very disappointed and won’t ever buy a product for any of your branches. Pathetic effort.
Very convenient with car park above the store which is 1hr free. Good selection and friendly and helpful staff.
Polite and helpful staff. Keen to help you select or suggest what you desire. If they are unable to help you, they will call on a spefic staff member that specialises in what you need.
Dans has got what you want at great prices! Got great member deals as well. Also conveniently has an Aldi right there
You can find whatever you need here, and they do price matching, so if you know a better price just tell them to get a discount!
As always, Dan Murphy’s doesn’t disappoint. Huge selection of wines, beers and spirits. I especially love that they have a HUGE selection of Japanese and Australian Sake. In a town dearth of good sake options, this place is a wonderful place when you’re cooking up a Japanese meal at home.
Staff was super helpful and took time to help us find what we were looking for based on our description! Very nice selection as well!
Spacious space with a wide variety of wine, spirits and beers. Staff are knowledgeable and more importantly always happy to help out.
This was definitely my worst online order pick-up experience. Dan Murphys South Melbourne is my regular store for years. But I just don't know if I can ever go back there again. I ordered a case online and after getting the confirmation text I went to the store to pick it up. There was a girl at the online pickup area and I showed my order number and asked for the case. I don't know what she was thinking at the moment she said you need to go back to the building for pick up. I said are you sure this is not the first time and again she was so confident. I drove around the buildings couple of times and I couldn't find any sign. I was in hurry so I decided to go back home do my things and come back in the afternoon. This time I went to the shop I explained what happened. Her shift was over and as soon as I explained what happened earlier staffs recognise her immediately and ask me "blonde girl? ". I said yes. It seems that it wasn't her first time. I was really unhappy and the manager came and apologised. One thing that I still struggling to understand is her confidence. I don't think I will ever go back to check if she is still working there. I am sure that the manager and senior executives will take these kind of behaviour very seriously since this is the reputation of a multi-billion dollar company.
Disgraceful. Made to feel like a criminal. I walked into the South Melbourne store tonight, walked straight to the champagne fridge, picked up a bottle and joined a queue of four. I was holding two supermarket bags. The security guard kept looking over at me, making me quite uncomfortable. Once I got to the front of the queue there was a less than subtle head nod between the cashier and the security guard. The cashier proceeded to ask to look in my bags and then poured through them with his hands - even over my hot chicken bag. When I told him that the two of them were hardly subtle, he said it was just standard policy. Quite clearly it wasn’t as the three customer in front of me did that have their bags checked. This experience let me feeling horrible and I will not shop with the store again. This is not the first poor behaviours demonstrates by security guards in this store. Last year my autistic son was spoken rudely too by the security guard in the foyer of the store, as he was jumping up and down on the spot - he’s way of regularly his behaviour. He was not in anyone’s way, nor in fear of breaking anything. Security guards need to be mindful of their influence on the customer experience as much as anyone. A disgusted customer.
I went on Sunday afternoon specifically to buy vintage French Champagne. This was my 1st visit to this store. As a huge DM fan and regular customer, I am used to awesome customer service and staff with fab product knowledge. Despite online showing a certain stock and the computer inventory showing a stock, the lady who served me insisted they were both wrong and only had what was in front of me in the cabinet. She said if I can't see it we don't have it. I am not sure what concerned me more: the blase attitude towards an incorrect online and in-store inventory management system or the blase attitude towards the customer. I left and spent $1300 on French Champagne elsewhere, who were brilliant. Never thought I would give DMs a 1 rating.
