Curry Cafe reviews
66On a cold winter's night, it's preferable to sit indoors however the heaters outside were ok for us. The food was great but they portions could have been been larger. They did come out in a reasonable time though. I also wish they had more cocktail and alcohol choices.
Our dinner was amazing! Butter chicken and vindaloo were 10/10! Will be coming back again and again!
Great curries complemented by a really cosy/warm atmosphere. Great staff and extremely affordable drinks.
Exactly what you want. Incredible food, staff are genuine and approachable.
Dining in is ambient and homely. Always a great time.
Thank you!
I regularly order from Curry Café and have always been impressed. The team has vision, creativity and clearly a passion for cooking amazing Indian food. They put their own spin on each meal and step it up a notch.
I recall the first time I tried their ‘Lamb Pasanda’… I was so excited by the aromas that I ran to show my housemate spilled half the sauce on the couch in my excited mad rush to share the joy… It’s not often that food invokes such a reaction.
Last week I ordered the ‘Lamb Chops’, beautiful, succulent and tasty morsels of meat that had been marinated in cardamom yoghurt and cooked in the tandoor, giving it a lovely smoky BBQ flavour. I couldn’t resist the urge and ended up holding the lamb chop in my hand and just ripping into it like a cave woman which is a pretty big statement coming from someone who has been known to eat a burger with a knife and fork in order to avoid getting her hands dirty….
The customer service is second to none. They always call to confirm my order, they let me know if there will be a slight delay during peak times and are amazingly quick to correct any oversights (which have been few and far between) …
Thanks for the consistently amazing food guys! You have an avid fan here.

PS-Just a quick update years later to say, I STILL miss Curry Cafe. I moved locations sadly: - (so have been unable to enjoy their delights.
I do however want to remind people that if there is an issue with Ubereats or Menulog app, this is not in control of the restaurant! It is a pet peeve of mine when I see people commenting on this and including it as part of their review. If you're going to rate a restaurant make sure you are on point and fair. How would you like to be reviewed on something that you had zero control over!
Looking back, I only had amazing experiences and the staff were ALWAYS friendly! I still miss their curries even a few years later!
Worst ever experience in my life at any restaurant in Melbourne. Ordered food for take away, waited for more than 20 min outside the restaurant. Then a rudest guy came from the kitchen and asked me to wait for another 20 min. Or you can leave he said. And the food is pathetic as well. Never tasted such a worst curry ever. Waste of money and time. Wouldn’t recommend to go there.
I think this may actually be the best curry takeaway I've ever had. Full of flavour, reasonably priced and lovely staff! Winner
That was one of the best meals we have had in Melbourne- as people who have travelled to 50+ counties, this might be the best Indian we’ve had outside of India. Cold beer. Great service. Outstanding depth of flavour. Don’t miss the saag. Wow.
CASH ONLY - no warning on entry!
Wanted to try the place because we walked past a few times and it’s always packed and smalls great. The menu looked awesome too with a nice variety of food.
Sadly just didn’t really live up to it. Authenticity is meh. Didn’t even ask us for the level of spice we wanted (which is standard for most Indian restaurants unless they just by default give you the real heat levels). So, came out a bit blander than I’d like for Indian food. Can see why mild curry fans would like this place? Definitely tailored for a non-authentic crowd.
Was busy for a Saturday. We were seated outdoors - half in the rain. Acknowledging that’s the only table we could get - sure. Most of the food was just “thrown” on the table and landed with a thud. And then also just kept listening to the manager apologising to the customers behind us about wrong orders.alarming? And then our order went wrong.and responded with some sass comment when we tried to cancel it.
To enlighten the experience, at the counter we were told it was a cash only place. Absolutely no signs indicating otherwise at the entrance. Who goes in and asks if a place takes card these days? Considering hygiene post CoViD (most places take card now?) and even the kebab store accepts bank transfers in lieu of card? Anyways, had to trek a mile in the rain go grab some Melbourne dollars and considering the price they charge for cash only, you’re probably better off going to some place along Sydney Rd for real Indian food - cheaper, more authentic, better service and probably takes more currencies.
One of the best — amazing food with great beer on tap. The team are always friendly and have a solid taste in music.
Not a clean place, owner should look at this place.and your answer huh? Is its when your opened your filthy restaurant before lockdown,
Hello I love Curry Cafe. Thanks to tom, and the rest, for my lovelly Curry every Sunday night, get $ rogan Josh, or anything you want, thanks.
Our favourite place for Sunday dinner - best curry in Melbourne. Casual, friendly little space. Great drink specials and vegetarian options!
It’s a real shame as their curries are really good.i just can’t deal with rude service.
Maybe I’m not hipster enough. But in my opinion if you’ve made an error you do everything you can to make it right. I ordered on their website and they were closed over the Christmas break. They did not update their site to reflect their trading hours. I have been charged a large amount. I went in tonight to discuss and was treated with absolute discontent and told to wait as he was too busy to help me! No apology.or I’ll get that sorted for you.they might be popular now but if that’s the way they treat their customers they will not last in business! I will NEVER step foot that place again. Oh and have lodged a dispute with my bank for services not provided.that way I don’t have to deal with someone who has zero customer care!

I have had many enjoyable experiences at curry cafe, lots of friendly staff and a great selection of food with lots to choose from. Plenty of vegitarian options that are the real shiners on the menu. Well thought out selection of drinks to compliment the food. Perfect place for a date night, or a catch up with friends and family. Sharing is encouraged to get the most out of what curry cafe has to offer.
Great food and service. This restaurant is usually packed so booking is a must or consider using Uber eats. The pricing is reasonable and there are plenty of vegetarian options. I did not see dessert on the menu (I wasn't looking hard) so you would need to head elsewhere.
Best Indian food in Northcote. Tastes like my (Indian) mum's cooking. Ambient and packed, and rightly so. The Indian chefs out the back make some delicious, innovative food.
I had some take away last night, this was like a whole world of new tastes opening for me. I have not found Indian food like this before. DELICIOUS!
One of the best butter chickens I've had, great samosas and the food overall is really tasty, helped down by a selection of tap beers.
