Country Cob Bakery - Springvale

On a personal note, I feel the best pie is very subjective and for me Country Cob does fall a bit short. The pastry around the rim was too dry. We tried the quiche, beef, garlic prawn and scallop Mornay pies. The award winning beef pie was okay but the more interesting filling pies were better in my opinion. Lots of variety which is great but we felt the pastry actually let the pies down. Worth a visit if it's on the way but I wouldn't go out of the way for it (lesson learnt).

Different than your average bakery as they really lean on their award winning pies. I only had stomach room for 1 pie so I tried the meat pie. Can't fault it at all

Pies were good. Store was easy the find with ample parking. The pies are more expensive than local bakeries.

I always come here for regular coffees and they always taste amazing! Would definitely recommend adding a coffee to your order here. Very friendly staff:)

Tried the butter chicken and satay chicken.
Butter wasn't the best I've had. Very runny.
Satay chicken was interesting and I rated it highly.
Got a chilli con carne and potato pie to take home for lunch tomorrow.

Pies are made fresh everyday and come in different and unique flavours, if you are really feeling adventurous you try their Singaporean Lobster or Butter Chicken pie!

We live close by and always drive past but never had the chance to try it out due to only being open for lunch and work getting in the way etc.

Today we finally made it in and we ordered: beef mince and cheese pie, chicken and mushroom pie, egg cheese and bacon pie and a vanilla slice.

We were extremely surprised at how good and soft the pastry was! The pie was cooked perfectly and it tasted good.

I accidentally ordered the egg, cheese and bacon pie instead of a quiche (my mistake) and I will say I don’t think the mix was the best (personal preference) but I still managed to finish it and enjoyed it (just wouldn’t order it again).

Over all it was a good experience and I will be coming back to try the rest of the menu!

Probably doesn’t have the mystique that the OG store in Kyneton has, but the pies are still impressive and delicious. Personally the pick of the lot is the steak & mushroom and creamy seafood. The satay seafood I found was too sweet for my liking. The store looks nice and spacious inside.

These pies were pretty good. Prices are a bit high but I’m happy to pay for quality! I really enjoyed the Steak Mince Cheese pie, loved the amount of cheese and it was tasty with the bonus of diced beef alongside regular mince

Partner had the gourmet Chilli Con Carne pie, said it was slightly overpowering from the spices (cumin?), but still thought it was delish.

We also got the potato pie which was yummy. Lots of potato, some parts soft and some parts crunchy which was awesome.

Customer service wasn’t too bad. Glad we went when it was quiet. But I doubt we’ll be so lucky all the time because it’s got so much buzz in the area already!

Would go again whenever we get a pie craving because it’s so close to home!

They really should stop using their catch phrase about the best pie because I can assure you it is not.
I ordered the chunky beef pie and the chucks were chewy, dry and all tasted different. Not in as pleasant way either. At $6.90, I would expect a lot more from a pie and this completely underwhelmed me.
I will not return

Definately the Best Pies Sausage Rolls and Cakes. Freshly cooked B&E rolls. Really friendly owners and staff!

Omg, the cheese & bacon pie and the mushroom pie that I purchased from here were the best pies that I've had for ages. All the ingredients in the pies tasted fresh and were 100% real ingredients. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to purchase pies from

The bakery is very clean and professional, ingredients within pies are high quality and taste great! Good service and a wide range of desserts, highly recc the vanilla and jelly slice.

Service was good.pies were ok.but i dont understand why they are award winning? They taste pretty much the same as any pie u could get from your average asian bakery? I wouldnt be able to tell the difference honestly.

The only good thing about the place is the food and coffee the service is for the bin I hope it lasts cause as I wrote food and coffee is good.

Recommended by a colleague, had a pepper steak pie and it was amazing! Deserves every award they get.

One of the best Pie shops in Melbourne. Worth a visit if you are thinking of having Pies, sausage roll or something sweet. Friendly staff and ample parking

Ok so yes the pies are decent & the vanilla slice is delicious and generously portioned, however the glass display is always filthy and there are always frozen pies that have fallen on the floor down the front of the glass, who knows how long they sit there for they just seem like display stock? , then there are hundreds of "awards" hung around the place way too many for a place that's been open only a few months, yes I know they are a franchise but showing someone else's reprinted awards is a bit tacky only good thing about them is having something to read while you wait ages to get your pies out of the glass case, then there is the fact there is no ordering system, there are "stand here" dots on the floor and the girls behind the counter only serve from two of the dots. I have been here 3 times weeks apart at different times of the day and things haven't changed regarding the service, also they never have hardly any pies available.the cheese and bacon pies have no cheese or bacon, steak and cheese pies have no cheese, just a let down. Lastly the coffee is horrible.
