Corner Chicken Shop reviews
37Long time customer, first review. Quality poultry every time, from take away lunch, Christmas turkey, ready made schnitzels, chicken gyros marinated to perfection, never disappoints. Fantastic service in person and online. Highly recommend!
Thank you so so much for always serving with a smile and a laugh. I was in such a rush last week and panicked as I was running late and voila, you guys came through! Thank you! And my guests LOVED the meal! See you on Friday! Athina xxxxx
The most succulent chicken I have ever tasted. It was marinated to perfection! Fabulous operators and the best service with a restaurant quality product. Will definitely be going back for more!
Best chicken shop in Melbourne. This is the real reason that we travel to the Vic Market. They have the best homemade gravy, cranberry sauce and stuffing. Olivia and Chris go out of their way to provide fresh and yummy food. Also try their chicken dumplings and chicken rissoles! Super easy to cook on a busy night! Thanks for all the fab products!
I have been visiting this shop since 2014. Went there yesterday (now as I have edited the review few times) between 12 and 1230 in the afternoon. Requested to give me there biggest size of a 1/4 chicken as there sizes vary despite their claim they are the same size. The man (on the 1st photo above) gave me the one of the smallest sizes and the closest one to him. I paid him 4.50 but requested to exchange. The replacement he cut for me was smaller than the previous one, according to my observations. Then he asked in a hostile/ sarcastic, somewhat yelling manner ' am I happy? '. Another customer who was standing next to me started to laugh. I asked 'can I please have my money back? ', and they, him and a lady (on the 1st photo with the man above) who turned and stood next to him who was earlier occupied with another customer refused, said' no,
you can't, it's not fair, he cut it twice for me' which in fact, he did not. She was serving another customer on the other side of the shop when he gave me the first chicken and was impossible for her to see. I left without the chicken and money. They told me not to come back again. Walked to Coles Melbourne Central, with a hungry stomach, around 7 minutes from there and picked up a 1/2 chicken of my choice which had a 1.5 times bigger quarter piece than what Corner Chicken Shop was giving me. I paid 5.50 for the half chicken at Coles and Corner Chicken charges $9 for 1/2 chicken. Was unaware of such deals at Coles until today. Thank you.
Our go to chicken shop in Melb! Always service with a smile and the produce is fresh, free range with a wide selection. Can’t go past their sausages on the BBQ in time for summer, not to mention their marinated wings! I’m a very fussy meat eater and have had some misses with other chicken suppliers over the years (texture of chicken breasts etc) we have never been disappointed with these guys! 5+ stars
I went here today with a couple of friends during a school excursion with the advice that it’s the best fried chicken my friend had tasted and it didn’t disappoint. The fried chicken was good, the ribs were amazing, and the chips would have gone great with gravy, but we didn’t get any. Great staff, great food,
I'm comparing this place to other chicken stores, not to a fine dining establishment.
I got a quarter chicken chips and gravy for $6. Tasty chips, juicy chicken, warm gravy. At lunchtime theres no messing around. I saw the person behind me faffing about with an order worth $9.50 deciding if she should buy more to meet the $10 eftpos minimum or pay 50c to make it $10. Dude behind the counter did not have time for that. Yhe people behind her were not feeling it. Get in line, order, pay then step aside. I loved it.
First visit for us, on the first day of lockdown this week-lady serving was super friendly
The Thai and Basil Chicken snags and Rissoles we bought, were excellent-I rarely eat sausages, but these were very tasty-will definitely be going back to try out more chicken items-very highly recommend
Chris and the team at The Corner Chicken shop are always so helpful and friendly. Our catering company only buys from their store as we can always guarantee it will be fresh and we are never let down.
I have missed going to the shop since lockdown and was pleasantly suprised when they did delivery down to my area. They are great in confirming your order and delivery date. Can't wait till lockdown eases and I can go into the shop to purchase. But till then, I will continue purchasing online
I've never ever been here to this 21st century version but I do remember this eatery although the version I remember is vastly different and very basic to this newer version? ! The version that I remember from over 29 years ago might or might not be the same franchise or it's seriously upgraded from what I remember it from 1989/90? ! From what I remember as a kid, this place was owned by the son of the opposite Drago's eatery. He opened up this place up off the success of Drago's selling nothing but exclusively roasted barbecued/charcoaled chicken, think that he might of sold fresh range whole chicken as well to customers as well? It did okay but nothing like Drago's which I think the son hoped to emulate through the success of the fathers original franchise entrance next door. Now's there this newer variant which I'm not sure if it's still owned by the son of the father via Dragos (probably not now? !). It's so different to what I remember but this version looks like a success now then what it used to be? ! If this place is still somewhat owned by the son of father's Drago's franchise? ! Then out of respect to him? ! I give him 5 stars because when the father wasn't around when myself and my mom came to Drago's? ! He treated us real well, especially my late mother so kudos to him! I think that may of seen the son of Drago's still managing the original store but not the Corner Chicken Shop (don't remember the original franchise name before this? !) ? ! But out of respect to the Drago's original owner of this store when he did/if he does manage this place now? ! 5 stars!
Went there so many times that I lost count. I always ordered the same thing, which is the crispy chicken ribs with chips and gravy (plus chicken salt & chili sauce). Deffo the best tasted and one of the best valued meals. Also, they have some of the friendliest people working there.
We are long time customers of the Vic Market ship, but did our first order yesterday from their online delivery store. The food is just as beautiful, well packaged and with friendly delivery. Could not be happier and will be using for regular deliveries going forward.
I do eat here but sometimes the chicken is a little dry. And the chips would taste better if cooked in vegetable oil. Too bad they don't have charcoal chicken at the Vic market. Maybe these guys will think about going down that path in the future. You can't beat charcoal chicken I think.
Very very nice fried chicken ribs. Didn't know chicken had ribs you could eat till i tried their fried ones.
I'm really not sure about this place. The product seems to be ok quality but when I went there they had the displays on the scales covered so I couldn't see the weight of the product so I feel like I may have been ripped off. Even if I wasn't it seems pretty dodgy so I doubt I'll shop.there again when all the other stores have the displays showing.
