Colonial Brewing Co reviews
55 Good staff, good beers, good pizzas, however kids burgers have somehow diminished to ⅓ of the size they used to be a few months ago.
Has to he the smallest kids burgers in Port Melb…. Kids were most unhappy tonight & hungry
Lovely staff and great food. I couldn't find an accessible entrance but once inside, there is an accessible toilet (analog, not automated doors) and a ramp to get to the other side of the bar into the brewery.
Great live music!
Great vibe, good food, great beer selection.
Staff happy and attentive.
We will be back.
Beers were not bad.but. The Sunday Bottomless bbq was a bit disappointing, you get a sausage/ pork/ coleslaw/ macaroni and cheese and a slice of bread.all of it was cold and impossible to cut with a wooden knife and fork.didn't really enjoy it! Too many kids for a brewery, running around and bouncing basketballs. I'd give the Sunday a miss unless your taking the kids to play basketball.might be ok if you turn up after 8.30pm when kids should be not there.
Disappointed!
Nice burger, beers and environment.
For 5* the fries would have needed just a bit improvement ;)
A wonderful all-round experience. We went for a taste and lunch. The booking process is easy online (which I’d recommend particularly for a long weekend). The staff were friendly and helpful. There food was tasty and came out quickly. All the beers I tried were delicious and had their own unique flavours. I love how you can choose which beers you’d like on your tasting paddle. Definitely worth the trip!
Great brewery, its located in an industrial area. Lots of craftbeers from the tap and the kitchen cooks up good food too
Three of us came to CBCo Brewing in Port Melbourne on a Saturday evening for dinner. We ordered a burger, fries, pepperoni pizza and drinks including lemon lime bitters, Pepsi and apple cider. First of all, I really loved the set-up of the pub restaurant. There was ample outdoor seating, and the basketball court next to the restaurant was a hit with the neighbourhood children and parents. The weather was lovely and warm, so we were very happy to sit outside under the setting sun. Secondly, the food was incredibly reasonably priced and generous portions as well. There was no nasty weekend tax; we paid for what we ordered, and I was pleased with that. Thirdly, the food was tasty and very filling. Fourthly, after it started getting dark outside, we went inside and played a game of Giant Jenga. What a great addition to the restaurant. Thanks for the great experience CBCo Brewing. 5/5 stars and a happy customer right here!
Nice little venue to hang out in. Indoor and outdoor seating. Being able to see the brewery was fun. Food was good. The ginger beer was very refreshing
Disappointed. Drove 30 minutes only for them to have closed the kitchen early. Won’t be coming back!
Ambience is nice and the food is tasty, albeit a bit on the expensive side. They have sports playing on TVs inside and good sheltered seating for outdoors. You can also see parts of the brewery which adds to the feel of the place.
Awesome fried chicken sandwich and craft beer. Kid friendly with a basketball ring out the front. Great space on a hot day. Lots of bucks parties coming through
Bad experience. Public venue with an extremely loud private event happening. Pizza was bland and dough tasted like flour. Won’t come back.
Skip this if you have any interest in craft beer. Was hoping they'd have some decent special beers beyond their low level core range, but no. And horse racing on the big screen is not your usual brewery vibe.
Freindly staff, great venue.
Highly underated, needs more patronage.
Thanks Tyler for a fab day. Beer Tasting was exceptional.
Awesome hangout! Great drinks and food was really well done too. My cheeseburger that I added an extra patty too was on point! Really rate their pale ale, got a nice couple of pints and had a great overall experience here
First time I’ve been into a restaurant and been treated this poorly. We entered and sat outside, a staff member came and checked our vaccination apps everything was fine. A few mins later another staff member asked to see our vaccination status, I told him the other waiter had already just checked them, this seemed fine as he went back inside (we would have been happy to show him this again but he didn’t ask). One of our group is celiac so went inside and purchased a gluten free beer and began drinking it just as our food was brought out by the second waiter, he saw the gluten free beer, he picked up the beer held it and went to take it away and told our group member that we weren’t allowed to bring ‘outside’ beers into the establishment, we told him she had purchased this inside and he didn’t believe us, i then said go check since we wouldn’t bring our own beers to a brewery, he then walked off and said ‘well if that’s true then it’s on me’ in a rude way.
We told this to the manager who apologised, the manager told us that initially after we told this waiter we had already showed another staff member our vaccination status that he went inside and told the manager that we had refused to show our vaccination status and that we were all non-vaccinated and had brought our own beers which is a complete lie. Our group was mostly health care workers who are all triple vaccinated and we had purchased the single gluten free beer inside. The manager told us that the first waiter who showed out vaccination status to had left, but there is no way we could have known this.
I hope this staff member is spoken to about treating people this poorly and just about lying.
He took the beer inside when clearing the table, I hope he checks that this gluten free beer is sold inside.
0/10 for Service I will never return and would not recommend this to anyone else.
My other note is that this same waiter was not wearing a mask at all. While I don’t really care I find this quite hypocritical given that he had lied to his manager about us being un-vaccinated.
Update: Colonial have followed this up, it is good that the actions of the one waiter do not reflect the whole establishment
Disappointing experience eating here. Shocking behaviour and aggression towards customers. Rude waiters who lie and need their managers to apologise for them.
My friend was gluten-free and purchased a gluten-free drink, and the waiter aggressively berated her for bringing beer from "somewhere else", went to take it when she wasn't done and accused her of lying, even telling his manager that we weren't vaccinated (another waiter checked all of our vaccinations beforehand).
To the staff: please be kind to your customers. If you want to make sure we're vaccinated, kindly ask. We would have shown you again, even would have been impressed by how deligent you were. If you're not aware of your gluten-free options, check the fridge. Talk to your co-waiters openly. Check yourself, before you mistreat customers and lie to managers - these people are paying YOUR salary.
Absolute gem of a spot, tasty food, nice outdoor seating with shade, perfect for the post cycling or bouldering meal!
On my very first visit, been pleased with the overall experience. Beers are not basic, I would expect more on craft range like hazy, iipa, etc. Pizza and other food were good as well but didn’t like the cauliflower popcorns, it was very tasteless and didn’t have that umami flavours. I got the 2 litres takeaway growler as well and will revisit soon with a large group, if they get some winter beers.
