We have recently had vinyl tiles laid and are extremely happy with the service provided by the team at Flooring Xtra. We had three home visits by Shahin assisting us with a quote and follow up assistance and the really expert tile laying by the two Allies! I have just had my floors done and couldn't be happier. I had a bunch of companies give me quotes and advice regarding what to do with my space (which is a tricky space with a bunch of awkward curving walls) and I definitely felt that Flooring Xtra seemed the most clued-up, competent and professional.

When I enquired about a quote Matt got back to me immediately, came out to give me a free quote the same day and we got the ball rolling ASAP. Within two weeks I had the product installed.

The process of having my floors prepped and finished was seen to by an amazing team of kind, punctual, respectful knowledgeable people, all of whom did a great job on the delivery. Thank you Shahin and team for the prep work and a shout out in particular to John for the backbreaking work which was done with such care and patience.

I would highly recommend Flooring Xtra. I don't think I could have gotten a better outcome elsewhere.

First of all, once they got their deposit, they would take days to answer my calls and queries.
Also, their floor installers are tge cheapest and less professional people you would come across.they tried to show it is difficult to get the job done and would charge money taking advantage that it is not mentioned in the quote and you end paying one third more of what is in the qoute.
I would never ever use them again and please don't go to them oe use their installers.you will regret it.

Good product and store service but please please don’t use the floor layers tradesmen they recommend. Huge mistake

Our experience

Now that the job is complete I have to say that I am less than impressed with the final result and workmanship provided.

There is a few issues that needs to be addressed and rectified;

1) On the left hand side of the bed there is a lot of movement in the floor and it makes hollow sound when stepping on it, it feels flimsy. (please see attached photo as reference to which area I am talking about)

2) Rather than just removing the ground part of the existing door frame between the main bedroom and living area the floor boards was cut off on either side which in my opinion seems like a strange solution.
I'm willing to let this go as we probably should have discussed this with the installer prior to work being commenced, but the solution to finishing the floor off on each side is unacceptable. Two narrow wood parts (excuse my lack of flooring terminology) was installed on each side, which from a distance looks OK. The problem is that the sharp edges protrude about 5-10mm, from the floor making it very unpleasant to step on without shoes. See attached photo.

3) the shoe cabinet which was fixed to the wall was pulled out of the wall rather than unscrewed. It have left a hole in the wall and the cabinet have not been reattached.

4) In the kitchen area one floor board has a damaged corner and two other floor boards are not flush and have visible gaps between them. See attached photo.

5) The kitchen bench have not been put back in the exact same spot which leaves the corner up against the wall looking rough both on the kitchen and living room side. See attached photos.

6) badly cut floor boards by the entrance to the bathroom, leave a small but very visible hole in the floor. See attached photo.

7) I will spare you from making a bullet point about every issue with the skirting boards and have attached several photos.the most noticeable though is the rough corner by the main entry and one length in the living room that haven't even been nailed to the wall leaving a long very noticeable gap.

8) the door stopper was removed and never reinstalled in the spare bedroom.

9) Although I do understand that there is colour variances in the timber as part of the natural look there is one floorboard that stands out like a sore thumb as it is noticeable lighter than any other floorboard in the apartment.
Denis advised me that he is not paid to sort through floorboards in regards to colour etc, but I do find it strange when professional installers do not take this into account when laying a floor. Unfortunately this floorboard is located in the middle of a walkway which will never be hidden by furniture etc (See attached photo) Next to this floorboard is also one floorboard that have a light “blemish” in it, not seen in any of the other floorboards installed. Again I just find it strange that this floorboard was installed in the middle of a high traffic area rather than using this in a less visible area.

In addition to this a lump of mixed cement/concrete was left on our tiled balcony floor. To avoid this settling in permanently I spent 30minutes in the rain scrubbing this away last night.

Based on the above issues I consider as poor workmanship I will withheld the remaining amount owing until rectified.

Before that time I'd like to receive a plan where you describe how each of these issues will be resolved and at what standard we can expect to have them executed at.

I hope you can understand where my frustration is coming from as I am sure neither of you would approve of this result in your own home!

Ask to see their installers qualifications.it’s a simple question. Don’t be fooled by a smooth talking salemans who smiles a lot.

Terrible customer service. After struggling to get someone to email back to my first enquiry, we then waited over 6 weeks for our chosen vinyl stock to come in. We were asked to pay a deposit to book the job in and a few days later we were then told they no longer lay this vinyl in residential properties. No valid reason given. No apology or attempt to rectify the situation. Absolutely appalling. Would not recommend at all.

Left the job not quite finished. Gave a silly excuse to try to justify it, I guess assuming I must be stupid. Said I would need to pay commercial rates to another contractor to come and finish it.

Really nice before the sale, then an unprofessional job and only interested in getting paid afterwards, who cares about the work.

Great customer service, fast and friendly. Professional and very knowledgeable of what they do. Their prices are reasonable and competitive. One stop shop with such a big range of flooring products on offer.
My wife and I were very happy with their services and highly recommend them.

I bought top quality oak and carpet flooring for my home from this firm and am dismayed to have received a second rate instalment job.

Great service and good prices. They were able to arrange a new vinyl floor to be laid in 1 week for us. They also have some very discounted rugs so sale so it is definitely worth visiting the shop.

In full view in the front window are two animals skins. One zebra and the other looks like an antelope. They are hung up and put on display for all of Hoddle Street to see. Whether these are fake or real, shows no respect for the illegal trophy hunting of wild animals. No respect or consideration when purchasing and displaying these items. Not a responsible seller.
