Being within The Clarendon Centre in central South Melbourne, this Coles store is perfectly located for us and we have shopped at here many times and have always had a good shopping experience. The store is well organized and the shelves and fridges are usually well stocked. We have also always found the staff to be super friendly and helpful. The free 1.5 hours underground car parking on busy Clarendon Street is also a real bonus.

Security should stop letting in junkies with no mask who are clearly a threat to the community in times like these.

Nice supermarket pity the customers are below par with their abuse for scanning into the supermarket during covid.

Clean and what u expect. Only thing i can say is that the counter to buy ciggarettes or phones is never attended and takes a good while to get anyones attention. So appart from that what u typically expect a basic coles not one of the new fancy ones has a carpark attached which is good as finding parking in claradon street can be hard

One of the best places for shopping your groceries.it's a big store located in the Melbourne CBD.
If you live, study or work in Melbourne city.you'd better shop in this place.
It has so many varieties of food and drink.
The shop is clean and tidy.easy to reach by public transport.

Great selection of produce, attentive staff and lots of organic selections. Would return for organic goods

Bad service and security guards who look at you and follow you around, because of the colour of your skin. Its very uncomfortable.
That's why I do not recommend.

An every day experience I suppose, it is a good store though, has most things in stock and friendly service. What can I say, it's my local Coles, south Melbourne is a good place to be all round

Saw one of the workers cough mucus into his hand and shake it into a bin, then touch every pack of cigarettes without washing his hands.

1 checkout open only forcing 20 people lined up to use self serve. Old ladies were 6 deep st the only check out opened. Company greed.

Three reasons for the poor rating.
1. Young guy at the self serve checkout tonight told my wife and I that there is to be only one person using the checkout at a time (social distancing), I say fair enough and walk outside to wait.
Next minute 3 young girls enter the self serve area, the guy cleans a checkout down and proceeds to gesture to them to use the register, all 3 of them together use it and not a peep from the guy. This is discriminatory behavior.
2. I ordered over $100 worth of groceries online to pick up at this store, waited for an excessive line of commission flats residents to buy cigarettes (online pick up and cigarette purchase are at a shared counter). Fair enough, I wait my turn. When I get to the front of the queue, I show the attendant my order, he ASKS ME TO WAIT while he serves another dero buying cigarettes behind me in the line. Then the dero can’t decide which cigarettes he wants, so we all stand there while he ums and errs.
3. I was walking out one day when a dero made off with some groceries that he hadn’t paid for, staff started chasing him and in the process one of the larger female staff waddled behind them and knocked me into the sliding doors while I was exiting. (Great way to treat paying customers) She was useless in the pursuit anyway, too slow.

Besides the poor service, this store is small, cramped, has limited items available, and always has a plethora of foul mouthed, foul smelling, aggressive beggars at the entrance all the time.
I’ve given them 3 chances, they’ll never have my business again.

Some of the staff on self serve are completely miserable but the shop itself is always fully stocked with great availability.

If you’re not going to allow more than 1 person to use your self check out at any given time, e.g my daughter and I can’t stand at the checkout together. You should have the courtesy to inform anyone who is about to enter your supermarket with more than 1 person that this is the case. Giving us a choice as to whether we want to shop with such rules or go somewhere else

Had Akram go above and beyond with his customer service to find flowers my wife wanted to buy for our mothers.to the point that he went into storage and brand a box of fresh flowers for us to choose from.must be noted by the great service he has provided as Staff like that is very hard to come by to choose to take the extra step when you he could of said we are out of stock! Very nice man

One of nicest places around sth melb - to shop (nice store), sit in food court (watch people get their hair-cut & have a coffee) and the cafe's for a smoke & coffee - after 3pm at Old paper shop deli & under cover with their sun blind & heaters, and the public seats after shopping for smoke & enjoy this part of Clarendon st. " Only thing is missing is a bit of Busking with some music/singing in the background - so its the cars & trams mainly which is a letdown for such a nice part of Clarendon st anyway.
Thats me for Coles st melb - Jason, local resident!

Let me tell you something about Coles.  I live in Melbourne, it's a beautiful country, and the biggest country in Victoria. I have the worst luck in the world. The worst part is that I'm from a village, and my parents work day and night to bring me up. When he got home that night, the only thing that was missing was a Christmas stocking and a bit of Christmas cheer. And I was like, "I better tell you the truth. You don't deserve this Christmas stocking. " He just went for it anyway. He had made a vow never to let anyone give him another one, ever.

I've lost count of the number of times he's sent me one Christmas. X

Good place to get something to eat late at night as it closes at midnight or get something before work as opens at 6am

Love the big, open entrance with the fresh food display, makes this Coles almost seem like a market. Great location, and the free undercover parking is a bonus.

I don’t usually review anything online but with this particular coles from my experience any other time was like a regular coles supermarket experience until last week as I was checking out the time was 23.50 it was late and all the customers were at the checkout after made the payment I was looking for the stikeez but ilI didn’t see it and the line was long and it was late so I didn’t want to slow everyone down for a little things it was late and I know everyone wants to finish and go home then I look over to the customer service area there was a lady the funny thing was I was looking for a review at this particular coles because I want to see w how other people have the opinion about this place and it didn’t take me long to find that this particular lady also have issue with other customers before it was a elderly lady with the lazy eye I went to ask for the stikeez as I can see a big bag behind her I I thought that she wasn’t serving anyone surely I can ask her for the stikeez then she said to me “didn’t you ask for it when you pay for your groceries because if you didn’t next time you can’t get it here” seems like a normal line of speech but the tone and the volume of her speech make me feel like I did something really wrong never again coles South Melbourne please review your customer service skill of your staff before you put them on the floor I’ve tried to be forgetful but today I went to fill up the petrol at coles express in Windsor and ask for the stikeez because the kids are collecting them the man behind the register gave two handfuls which make me think of last week incident and make me putting this review up

My go to coles since 2015, everyone is usually super helpful. Sometimes the wait can be long depending on rush hour.
