A visit here during the week is always good. Food and coffee are always guaranteed to be good. I do personally find the service here better during the week than weekend as it's always so crowded then.

Went there for a morning coffee /breakfast with my friend on a Saturday morning.the place was really busy.the coffee was good but wasn't hot.the eggs Benedict was interesting, they had it with truffle and charcoal sourdough, and you can get it with sausage or vegan sausage (no salmon). I'd go there again

Service was non existent, coffees came out burnt and curdled. Expected better since they actually have great coffee beans.

I have been going to code black on and off for years and have always had fantastic experiences with the staff and recommended the menu highly to friends. Today, I was extremely disappointed and probably won't be going back. Understandably, it was busy, but after trying to catch a waiters eye for ten minutes for some water, I got up and went to the wash station and asked for water myself. My avocado breakfast was good, but my sister had a in-edible muesli. For a $16 muesli, it lacked flavor and had a ridiculous amount of coconut yogurt which took over the whole dish. I tried the yoghurt and it didn't taste good. After my experience trying to get water, I wasnt able to speak to a waitress to voice this issue. We sat for a while after afterwards, waiting for the waitress to take our plates so that we could say something about the muesli, but she didn't come. When I paid, I pointed out the uneaten meal, and said that my sister couldn't eat it because of the overwhelming amount of yoghurt. All that we were met with was an apology. For a very well to do, established hospitality business, this saddened me because it didn't make me feel like they valued customer opinion or service. I hope it was just an off day, but not willing to go back to find out any time soon.

Forgotten after being served a mediocre latte and a dark, watery hot chocolate. 30 mins after ordering and after enquiring as to the remaining wait for out food was told our order hadnth been put in. Our waitress had disappeared after the drinks and we never saw her again. Drinks were free after that but after wasting 45 minutes, so what?
There was plenty of wait staff coming and going and not once did anyone enquire as to whether we were waiting for anything.
To make matters worse, this was the second time this had happened to us at the same cafe, and we were sitting right at the front table beside the till.
Hardly invisible!
Makes one wonder whether there is some kind of deliberate bad service for those who don't fit their pretentious aesthetic.
Will go back again one day just to test that theory.
