Coaster Take Away

$40 of fish and chips has just gone straight in the bin.
Soggy, undercooked, dripping oil and covered in so much salt it was inedible.
Rubbery, grey, tasteless fish.
Steamed dim sims drowned in soy sauce.
A holiday treat that was nothing but a huge disappointment and waste of money.

Worst fish & chips ever. Rubbery, tasteless fish covered in enough salt to give you high blood pressure and heart disease. Inedible, it has put me off fish & chips for a very long time

Not good I'm afraid. My husband ordered flake and got something that was very much not flake (chewy, he couldn't even cut it with a fork, and revolting), and i had blue plastic in the batter of my fish.
Previously, my fish has smelled and tasted of bleach so we haven't been back in years.
I wanted to give them another go since they're local, but nope. Never again.

Nice takeaway tucked down the side streets. Next to a general store and providing angle parking to the front.

Great little shop friendly staff, My burger with the lot was yum.and good size choices of chips, not your standard minimum onlyI'd go back anytime

I've been going there for 5 or so years now, excellent fish and chips, friendly and efficient staff, what more?

Chips well below average, potato cakes were stuck together and undercooked in the middle, burgers were alright, flake was the only thing that was crispy. $10 chips looked like the same size as two large chips from KFC except cold and lifeless. Spring roll was good. Wouldn’t go back again.

Overpriced food, rude staff, swearing infront of kids & customers! The food is cooked in dirty oil and stinks… shop is dirty & worst place I’ve been to since new owners took over…. 1/10 and that’s being generous

Used to absolutely love this place when I visited the area but not sure if there’s been a change of ownership but sadly, can no longer recommend. Soggy, over cooked fish and chips which is being kind

A little family run shop tucks away in a quiet street. We went there for lunch and ordered the Seafood pack, the portion generous for two. The service was extremely friendly, we requested the chips to be extra crispy, shout out to the friendly lady who served us she happily ensured that our chips were extra crispy as requested. The seafood was also fresh and cooked to order. Overall really satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. We will definitely return again on our next trip to Rosebud.

Got the fish and chips. Fish was fresh and for pretty good. Not very clean and tidy, or attentive. No one else was in the store (at 4pm).

Dear customers, due to one person only, arguing about 5.50 of chips instead of 5 (didn't want to pay extra 50 cents) we have people putting up bad reviews. Dont expect respect when you tell staff do they want tissues for their issues.

Went back to Coaster today after 2yrs and it was just as good as it was back then
The flake in the 2person pack was simply delicious and as good as I’ve ever eaten anywhere else in Australia. Chips ok, dimsims very good and potato cakes very good also. Cooked really well and very generous size too!
Will be back again, even though we live in Mornington and it’s a bit of a drive - but worth it,

Great chip shop until they just changed their chips to chicken shop type fries. Disappointing.

They are always so pleasant and helpful, everything is so reasonably priced I really enjoy ordering from there thank you

There is always a risk involved when trying a new takeaway. This was a risk worth taking as the fish and chips were delicious as were the dim sims in batter.

Worst fish and chips I've ever had. Hard earned money, straight in the bin. Children running the shop, absolutely useless.

Staff are lovely but the quality of food is alittle bleh! But good prices! I guess it depends on who cooks the food

Great local and family run fish and chip shop. We stay in Capel Sound regularly and this is our local. Friendly and efficient, and they use chicken salt - BONUS. Others around that are overly busy because they are on main roads - this one is great 10/10 - never had a bad experience. Oh and DELICIOUS.

Attended the shop to view the menu only you find "flake" the only fish listed. No alternatives where displayed on the menu posted in the window.

Whilst the term "flake" has been used historically, it is also helpful to list the exact species of shark.

I don't eat shark, especially when the species is not clearly listed. Not all sharks are sustainable and flake is a generic term that doesn't help consumers make informed choices.

On a positive note, great artwork on the side of the shop is worth a look. Especially if you love sharks.
