Ciao Mamma! reviews
68A great place for celiac and gluten intolerant people. The dishes feel so authentic that even if you are not intolerant to gluten, you'll have a hard time to spot the difference. Great authentic Italian ragu sauce and amatriciana. Try the GF donuts.they are the best! Amazing Service! Friendly staff! Thank you Anna for your great customer service skills!:)
Every time we come here it never disappoints. The pasta is to die for and the dessert is so delicious. The service is great also. My partner is gluten free and we always struggle to find restaurants that have options but also tasty food and Ciao Mumma hits the spot for both of these.
I love this place! Their gluten free pasta is really good. Tasty sauce and alot of gluten free option. Definitely try the pear ice cream it's mouthwatering.
Food wasn’t great! Salad had a few leaves only and not much on the plate. The pasta wasn’t al dente it was under cooked. The service was good and good atmosphere.
First time at Ciao Mamma tonight, and I must say, rather disappointed.
The food was ok, but small portions and WAY overpriced.
Service was alright, nothing special. Atmosphere, a bit weird, the place feels and looks like a burger chain inside.
But the biggest takeaway from here is the price. Food and drinks outrageously overpriced and when you consider the price of a plate, the food comes in well under expectations.
It's a permanent ciao from us.
Wait staff were friendly and the vibe was very great but the food left a bit to be desired. We got a set menu and I don’t think anyone was full afterwards. The pasta was also a little tough (but maybe that’s just my personal preference).
Fantastic pasta dishes
Gluten free options are just as good as non-gluten free
Restaurant interior is well designed
Worst meal in Australia so far. Absolute rip-off. Limited menu selling precooked food warmed up. Chose the chicken which was cold inside covered in hot melted cheese accompanied by a half plate of leafs (sold as salad). The chips were straight out of a bag from local supermarket more akin to McDonalds. The wine started at about $50 per bottle. We also ordered bread and olive oil starter with olives. Got 6 pieces of French bread with cheap tasteless oil.
Ciao mama was ok but overpriced for what you get particularly when you consider what other options are available in Brunswick. The service was good and the waitress lovely but the food was average at best and overpriced. Would not recommend.
Wow! From Sydney and to have an Italian meal of this quality, where not only my coeliac niece could eat her first parmi, but I could enjoy a GF pasta with out garlic or onion (yep I’m low formap) altogether was incredible.
The owner Tina and her staff were delightful and friendly and we will happily drive 10 HOURS to eat here again.
Thank you Tina. Having someone in your family with eating restrictions, you understand how special this was for us. X
First time here tonight and the food was very yummy! We were served by Ella, a very lovely and professional girl who made our dinning experience wonderful:) thank you!
The worst service and food I have had in years. After waiting 1 hour for our drinks and being served hard pasta we were told its fine by owner. This is the worst Italian food and arrogant disrespectful owner made things worse. I will never go back again horrible food
The best thing is the pasta. Always a busy place. Inside can be cramped because tables v close together. Servings are small. 3 stars for everything other than the pasta which gets 4 stars.
Beautiful welcoming restaurant great service authentic Italian pasta quick service next time I’m in Melb definitely going back thank you it was just like eating my own pasta BELLISSIMO GRAZIE ️
Coeliac heaven! Lovely, attentive staff who take the time to assist with any dietary requirements- even when very busy. This is one of very few places where I feel safe to pick and choose from the mostly GF menu (the fettucine has the perfect chew and in a carbonara or creamy mushroom sauce- delicious!) And their cannoli is a delight- light and crispy shell filled with creamy lemon/cinnamon ricotta. This place is definitely worth a try- and return.
Heaven for Coeliacs! So much to choose from! This place was delicious! Pricey but worth every cent! Highly recommend!
Omg this restaurant is heaven. The food was delicious, the gluten free gnocchi tasted like little clouds. The FODMAP friendly sauce was beautiful. The staff were SO wonderful - so welcoming, so accommodating, so friendly and personable. An absolutely fantastic experience ️ omg and the donuts how I have missed good donuts
GF pasta was amazing! Mamma Tina is a lovely host, very welcoming. Our group of 6 all enjoyed our meals. Thankyou very much. It would be amazing if there was a Dairy free, gluten free, vegan sauce. I chose the mushroom sauce with my GF pasta which was really nice but I very rarely eat dairy, maybe coconut based would be nice? Just a suggestion, as I cant fault the flavours:). Oh and the doughnuts were really really good:) Highly recommended if your GF or not, there's an option for you:)
I really want to like this place more but my meal missed the mark so I'm marking it as ok.
I got the fried calamari as a main and the serving size was very generous and the calamari was tender and not overcooked.
However the seasoning was completely off, as I got about halfway through my plate I became aware how heavily salted the meal was - even the salad. I think perhaps a heavy hand on the salt in the kitchen. I ended up giving the rest to my partner who ate a few but also noted the high salt content.
My dining companions ordered pastas and all thoroughly enjoyed them. Kind of wish I did the same. As a person on a strict gluten free diet I am so happy to see a Coeliac Australia accredited restaurant and I do want to support that. My friends ordered wheaty pasta so I can't comment on the taste.
We also ordered the arancini as a starter and these were very good.
Service was a bit iffy, with one friend mentioning the long wait between courses. I was content chatting so didn't mind so much.
Hopefully I'll visit again some time and get to try something really special.
Highly recommended! We had a family gathering at Ciao Mamma and it was like the staff were an extension of our family. We were so warmly welcomed it was just like home. The menu catered for all dietary requirement. The food was delicious, fresh and served in abundance. A truly lovely dining experience. Do yourself a favour, try Ciao Mamma, you will not be disappointed.
