Terrible, unorganised, messy experience. Don’t know what needs to be done or has been done with assessments. Absolutely worst experience, avoid this place.

Student counsellor was great to start off with then it went all downhill from there. Difficult application process and even then I had NO confidence that a Cert IV workplace Training and Assessment through them was going to be beneficial for Customer Service as the people running the course only seemed interested in people with a trade background. I have withdrawn my application and, once again I am looking at a lifetime of dealing with angry and vengeful customers in a job I hate.
Very disappointing and upsetting

I wish I was able to give a negative rating because 1 star just is not low enough.

A Truly terrible experience so far I'm studying building construction and I'm about half way through, there is almost no help from the university. Absolutely terrible support for any issues you have, to get anything done you have to call and email them constantly just to get a response from them which will not help at all.you'll get unclear feedback about your assessments from the teachers for any aspects that they don't deem satisfactory only to fail you at the end of the modules to then bill you for it.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND! Chisholm I recommend that you go to another institute that actually wants to educate you as in my experience Chisholm does not.

I wish I had of listened to the countless negative reviews.please don't waste your time with them as you will only regret it.

I completed a Certificate 2 with Chisholm 10 years ago while I was still in high school and had a positive experience.

However when I decided this year that I would like to study with Chisholm again, my experience has been anything but positive.

I have been working in the Beauty industry since 2016 after receiving my Diploma of Beauty Therapy at an independent Beauty college in the city.

Now looking to up skill and complete a Diploma of Remedial Massage, I thought Chisholm would be a great place to study again.

Upon looking into the Diploma online, I was surprised to find that Chisholm is the only place out of all of the other Tafe’s and colleges that offer massage courses, that doesn’t offer any part time study options and requires a full time, 10 hour days, 3 day a week commitment and also charge more then everywhere else.

As someone who works full time and is looking to up skill this isn’t a practical option for me.
I decided that perhaps I could do the Cert 4 instead and then could complete the diploma afterwards, as an alternative to a part time option.

I made an online enquiry about the Cert 4 and credit transfer options, only to receive an email in response which didn’t answer any of my questions from my enquiry but instead informed me that I needed to call Chisholm and speak with someone.

After waiting for over an hour I was finally put through to someone who couldn’t seem to answer all of my questions either and suggested that I apply for the cert 4 and once I’d submitted all of my information, then they would be able to answer all my questions and I could always withdraw my application if I changed my mind.

I filled out and submitted the application and then received an email from someone telling me I needed to complete and pass a BKSB assessment to be able to enrol. I found this rather odd considering I completed my Year 12 Education in 2013 and also hold a Diploma Qualification that is only 5 years old but I went ahead and did the tests anyway.

Requiring a level 4 to pass, I achieved a level 5 in the English and a level 3 for the Maths.

I decided to call Chisholm again, by this point I had already called them about 5 or 6 times in the last month, every time being put through to a different person telling me different things but supposedly recording all of these exchanges on my file, simultaneously receiving emails from someone who didn’t seem be aware of any of these phone exchanges.

This time when I called, I was put through to the most incompetent person yet and everything she told me completely contradicted everything else I had been told previously.

She informed me that I had failed the English subject from the BKSB assessment and therefore could not do any of the massage courses. I told her I had scored a level 5 on the English to which she apologised and said it was the Maths that I failed, although she would continue to say that I failed the English for the remainder of the 45 minute phone call. She said she could re-submit the maths test to me but if I didn’t pass it a second time, that was it, I only get 2 attempts.

Fed up, I asked her if she could put me in contact with someone from the Massage department who knew about the courses and could finally answer my questions.

She said she would email the head of the massage department, detailing all of my queries about the study options and would ask that he email me directly.

Well I finally got my email from him yesterday.
He didn’t answer any of my questions or advise me on the courses but instead informed me that because I had failed the maths component of the BKSB assessment, they “can not offer me a position with funding, ” but I can attempt the assessment again in November for a 2022 enrolment.

This over all experience has been disappointing and disgraceful to say the least.
I have since found a direct entry college that I can study with instead, so I only need to show them my Year 12 or my Diploma to enrol.

I'm doing a three year hair dressing apprenticeship with Chisholm and do my classes at a beauty school called Helen Dunne. I'm 7 months into my apprenticeship (I started October 26th 2020) and still not have been set up with a payment plan so I can pay my fees! I have tried getting in contact with the customer service hub at Chisholm six times, in regards to starting this payment plan. When I finally got in contact with a someone, they claimed they were waiting for more paperwork from another department. I then received an email saying I need to pay asap, which obviously I couldn't for I hadn't been set up with a payment plan. The lack of communication at Chisholm is horribley poor I do not recommend this school at all. On the other hand the ladies at Helen Dunne and are extremely helpful and supportive.

The courseware was good but pricing was very sneakily upped between study periods by $600 odd. Technically, they are within their rights to do so due to their fine print but I would expect a quote for a 9 month course would be fixed for the entire course, not just the first study period.

Very disappointed about the price quoting and I won't be studying again with Chisholm again because of it.

Their enrolment documents are also sent at the last minute so something else to watch out for.

P. S When trying to call their student engagement team, you will always get "We're experiencing a high volume of calls". Which says to me that's their regular call volume and they can't be bothered staffing their call centre to answer calls quicker.

To rate chisholm one star is honestly hard for me to do, if I could rate them less I truly would.
Whilst studying online with chisholm I have encountered numerous issues regarding my work and when I have discussed these issues with the teachers I have been ignored or they fail to answer the question I have asked. Whilst completing my course I have had to re-submit my work regularly with two teachers specifically who apparently don't seem to care that they fail to provide adequate and appropriate feedback or resolution.
I think the online teachers for the certificate 3 in individual support should be re- evaluated as they seem to lack experience or a qualification for that matter in the aged care industry. As someone who has 5 family members working as PCA'S, And one as a DON, I am 100% positive that the information they provide does not actually meet the legal and ethical policies and procedures that aged care facilities must follow at all times. Whilst completing my online course I was made to complete videos that evidently are illegal. I was told to demonstrate how to pick someone up off the floor after a fall which is actually illegal in a facility as you MUST use lifting machines to provide appropriate and adequate care. If the teachers of chisholm online do not know that this is illegal then obviously they are uneducated and should ensure they understand all the rules and guidelines, legal and ethical requirements, policies and procedures as well as protocols, before setting students up to fail due to the lack of education they have been provided.

I just want to express my absolute disgust towards your admin who when I attempted to make a part payment basically repeatedly threatened me and said they would doubt there would be places left for a course because I couldn't make the entire payment for an additional 3 days because it would have to be split. Not only that I had an extra 13 days before the due date.

I made every offer to make a payment it just couldn't be a lump sum on the spot on her terms. The best i could do to meet her terms was a couple of days away. There was no need for her to threaten me about losing a place repeatedly and act like they where selling out fast since there where so many places left.

I don't even want to attend Chisholm if that's the kind of staff that work there. It has seriously a sour taste and Chisholm haven't even gotten $1 out of me yet.

As a teacher at Chisholm Institute in the electrical department I would advise teachers that the working conditions are very poor in the department.

I really enjoyed my studies in here. The teaching staff were very helpful. I think it’s us students that have to look beyond the limitations and find the light ourselves. Teachers are leading us and showing us the way, we have to find our own light.

Hope I could give minus rating. Useless bunch of course advisors sitting there who doesn't know their job at all. One of the course advisors was giving me advice to do year 12 first and then join the course because it was their requirement. I tried to explain her for 20 mins that I have a bachelor degree in computers so obviously have done year 12.

Poor Communicators and rude to future students.have staff that advise you incorrectly and then advise it is your own fault. Was advised my enrollment was 100% confirmed 3 days before commencement only to be told on the first day of study that the course was not available due to my funding options. Staff constantly gave incorrect information - My advice study elsewhere if you can.

Feel like number just another enrolment for the funding. Engineering is lacking energy and no real personalisation. Teachers seem angry and so busy and frustrated with the systems in place its like Admin vs the department.

Spent over a day enrolling and RPL because the front desk refused to speak to the teachers. It was very frustrating going back and forth as they couldn’t call each other.

Chisholm doesn’t seem personalized and the teachers seem very busy and angry with management and the world.

When they are not being angry and the rare chance someone else isn't getting help you might be able to get some help. Night school is constantly mentioned as catch up.

Just read the book then ask a question or just do these exercises, something is lacking. Not very personalized, teachers rarely share their life experience or back ground. It is very disengaging.

Not too sure I want to do any further study with Chisholm or would even recommend it.

On the plus side the equipment isn’t too bad. But it really lacks. Just do the book work.

Lots of bullying not just from the students but teachers as well there is a teacher Kevin in the electrical department who puts down his students to make him feel better about himself. If he is still there he should be fired

Currently attending my course at Dandenong Chishom.

Probably one of the worst training facilities ive ever been too.i have 3 friends attending this tafe and they all hate it, teachers cant be bothered to help and all they do is sit behind a computer to see us fail so they get more money out of us.

Would not recommend to anyone. Shame i ha to give one star.
