Chiraag Indian & Nepalese Restaurant reviews
40My favourite Indian restaurant and has been a for a long time. Definitely keen to try the Nepalese food soon.
Nice place with a great fine ambiance. We had tried their Chicken Chilli, Chicken momo which were good. Chow chow chicken was a bit of a let down.
But their naans were the best naans I have had in Melbourne. I highly recommend the Kashmiri & garlic cheese naan along with Chicken Madras.
Service was very prompt and friendly.
Nice Authentic food. We get the family pack. This is now $89.00 but 3 of us have two meals from this. Indian Cuisine with good flavours. Pleasant atmosphere to dine in also.
We as a group of friends went there, it was the worst experience ever. The waitress had plenty of attitude, we ordered three meals and we saw the food was way to less, when asked she got annoyed, she could have said that in a nice way. The food wasn’t good either. Never going there again.
I recently visited an this restaurant for dinner and, unfortunately, it was a highly disappointing experience. The food was bland and lacked any distinctive flavors that are characteristic of Indian cuisine. Each dish I ordered seemed to be missing the essential spices and aromatic ingredients that make Indian food so enticing. It was a letdown to say the least, as I was hoping for a memorable culinary adventure that would transport me to the vibrant streets of India. Instead, I was left with tasteless and uninspiring dishes that failed to live up to my expectations.
Adding to the disappointment was the poor service provided by the waitstaff. The waitress had a dismissive and rude attitude from the moment we entered the restaurant. She seemed disinterested in assisting us, offering no recommendations or guidance when we sought assistance with the menu. Her lack of professionalism and disregard for customer satisfaction was palpable, and it cast a shadow over the entire dining experience. It's truly disheartening to encounter such a combination of tasteless food and unpleasant service, and I cannot recommend this Indian restaurant to anyone seeking an authentic and enjoyable dining experience.
Food was good but the lady that either owns or works there - mid aged, unfriendly and tried to over charge us by adding in an extra bottle of wine at the end when we went to pay. Guys check ur receipts. When i asked her for the invoice, she only gave me the bank receipt of the amount i paid so i wldnt check. Clearly did it purposesly. When i called to say id like to confirm what id been charged for, a man whom i think was her husband answered, i was put on hold multiple times, he avoided going through the amounts i was charged for. When i went for the refund, the lady did no even come out, no apology, clearly purposefully done. If it was an innocent mistake i feel like she wld have atleast had the deceny to apologise. Never gng back there!
Been going here for years great food, however disappointed how the take away sizes have halved and having to pay the same price, probably won’t be back
The food is always very good, cooked to the way we ask, ie extra spicey, the curries are tasty, the naan bread is nice and crispy and the home made ice cream is sensational.
We ordered Palak lamb & Butter chicken & lamb chops.
Lamb was well cooked, butter chicken was flavourful & loved the spices on the lamb chops.
Writing this review while we wait for our Masala chai.
This restaurant is a gem, has been running for 20years now.
The owner is the chef and takes good care of the customers.
Btw the masala chai is hot & yummy
Absolutely the worst Indian I ever had in melbourne. Ordered chicken tikka masala and was served an abomination. There was no taste, no salt, the chicken pieces were cold from inside. There were uncooked veggies in the thin watery gravy. Absolute zero care to prepare the food. The food screamed that chef just rushed into getting something out.
When I pointed it out, they pointed out at other customers, who were mostly white and said 'we prepare to their taste'!
My wife had ordered chilli chicken and she as well left the whole thing uneaten and didnt like it. I didnt try it coz that as well did not look good.
Staff were nice. But the food was totally inedible.
Ordered vegetarian chilli momos and Veg Chow chow. The momos tasted slightly sour as i assume it must be the msg or flavour enhancer used in it. The veg noodles were below average in taste and preparation. Overall the food was too oily and below average with their taste
Visited the place a while back. Nice cute restaurant and really liked the vibe there. Customer service was okay. It was a busy night and they were understaffed so i understand why service wasnt great. Personally i felt a few of the dishes overpriced for the portion that was served. Otherwise overall a decent place to go to with family or friends
The food here is really good. The staff are friendly and attentive. It's ambiance is very nice and friendly. There are a mix of Nepali and North Indian dishes on the menu. Lots of variety to choose from for vegetarians and others.
I ordered paneer masala. It was rubbery, chewy, overly sweet and tasteless. Bad food. Will never order again.
The experience was just overall amazing. The people were friendly and very welcoming. The establishment was a lovely environment to dine in and spend time with my family. And the food was just spectacular and made from people who genuinely care. 5/5 would recommend to anyone who wants to try some delicious Indian & Nepalese food.
As a Curry lover and long term patrons of Chirrag over 15 years, they are the best Currry House in our area and have prepared for us hundreds of meals. We like the Butter Chicken, Garlic Chilli Chicken, Rogan Josh, Tawa Chilli Beef, in fact we rave about the whole menu it's so good! Thanks to Pushpa and Bala for looking after our Curry needs all these years!
Great Food! Good service.
Was very busy with orders but food came in a good time. One of the best Butter Chickens that I have had. Naan was light and fluffy. Will be back
Such a lovely local restaurant. Memorable and tasty dishes with friendly service. Always happy to come back here
Chiraag is my favourite Indian restaurant by far! Their cheese naan is to DIE FOR, and curries are amazing, butter paneer, prawn malabar and lamb korma my faves! My favourite waitress Pushpa is the sweetest person, service is fast, and we always look forward to coming here
I was really horrified by the service here. A waitress shoved a plate in front of my face and said "you wanna plate!? " at me. My table and I were all quite shocked. Also trying to make a booking was not easy as the people on the phone were also difficult and rude to speak to. Aside from the slow and rude service the food was not great. My palak mushroom didn't have any flavour although the chicken momos were good.
Would not recommend dining here.
