Chez Bob Restaurant reviews
40The snails were nice but the so called beef cheeks were tough and the sauce was too intense I actually think the beef cheeks were thawed beef and not cheeks at all there was no gelatin of tenderness may be because just out of lockdown they were using what they had frozen any way they were tough
Excellent food! The entrees were delicious and beautifully presented! Mains did not disappoint, authentic French food at is best. Great selection of wines. The service was amazing, the waiter professional and kind! Unfortunately I only took pictures of the wine and desserts but definitely the experience was on point! Come back for sure!
It's an okay type french restaurant. I loved the food, but I adored the desserts. Try their Escargots & Fish cakes, or duck & orange cream for dessert.
Truly excellent authentic French restaurant serving beautifully cooked and presented food by an interested, non-obtrusive waiter. The wine list is concise and well priced with some fine wines offered by the glass. My steak tartare topped that offered by both Bistro Thierry and Francois. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fish of the day. I highly recommend Chez Bob for its authentic French food, excellent wine choices and personable, friendly service.
Waiters were amazing, but the food wasn't. Mussels was average, very watery, fish of the day- snapper, felt like frozen, and was tasteless, the fish croquettes were amazing.
We got baguette, but only top two pieces were hot, rest were cold.
The waiters were very good. Unfortunately the confit duck was dry and overcooked and hard. I was offered something else, but had lost my apetitie. Would have appreciated having it taken off my bill as it was obviously overcooked.
Fairly ordinary. Lamb brains were just McDonald’s chicken nuggets with a piece of lettuce. Steak was raw, not medium rate. Dessert serving was too large
I had a craving for something classic and Chez Bob did not disappoint!
Sometimes you just can't beat a perfectly cooked steak with bordelaise sauce and pommes frites. Duck parfait, delicious. Local snapper with boulliabaisse, yes please.
Second time dining at Chez Bob, service was great both times. I'll be back for a third visit. And probably more!
Exceptionally good French restaurant. Delicious food, great ambience, very friendly and attentive service.
I don't write many reviews, but this place was too good not to share. I dined at Chez Bob earlier this week. So happy to have discovered this hidden gem! Everything we ate was perfection, the duck liver parfait was sublime, and the bouillabaisse sauce that came with the snapper dish was one of the best things I've ever tried. The service was excellent as well. I definitely will be back!
Very good food, amazing personal and friendly service that left nothing lacking. A little expensive for my taste as a rule but to be fair the quality, the flavour, the presentation was #1.
Such a fabulous local French restaurant that feels like Paris. Wonderful food and the best service around.
We decided to try Chez Bob (chez nous) on Saturday night for a special celebration. Our order was ready on time for collection and cooked to perfection! Who would have known a take away steak could be perfectly medium rare by the time you get it home? ! The onion soup was also delicious, as was the creme carmel dessert. Merci beaucoup Jean-Paul!
I've been a client here for over 10 years Jean -Paul, Pasquale and the team quite simply are very good at everything they do which is why Chez Bob is so very popular.
They come . They go in this small strip of shops in Armadale however Chez Bob has stood the test of time and seems to have been there forever! We were greeted by a charming waiter who added to the authenticity of the place, being French! Our dishes and flavours were okay but would have preferred served hot rather than warm and the cheese soufflé looked a bit tragic however apparently tasted fine!
Had been a favourite for years, however the quality sadly seems to be slipping, as my savoury souffle (same favourite I order each time) came out raw in the centre. The duck was dry and unappetizing. Nice bread, and serving a decent size of French bubbly.
Dined here the other night. As we had always wanted to dine here. Right from when we walked in the door we received a very friendly greeting and we knew this was only the start of a fabulous evening. The wine list is Superb. Started with a glass of Louis Roederer. The best way to start. The food list is such a fine selection which made it very difficult to choose from, as we could have had nearly all on the menu. The crumbed lambs brains were the perfect starter for myself. The scallops also was a great choice. This was then followed by the crumbed pork cutlet. To die for. Plus the Delectable fish pie. Truly a must have. The choice of French wines by the glass.goes so well with the meals. Finally the deserts. Creme brullee superb plus a French sauturne to finish off.in other words this is just a fabulous establishment where the food.wine.service and decor make this a really memorable place to dine.
Consistent brilliant food and service over the last 10 years. Another wonderful birthday celebration
If you love French Cuisine then you cannot go wrong with Chez Bob. Will be back there. A quiet room that's ideal for individual, couples or small group dining. It would be ideal for larger groups too. Very welcoming staff and superb food. Seafood pie was delicious and entrees superb. Their steaks are stunning. Simply put, a great little restaurant.
What a shame. It’s Valentine’s Day and I thought it is time to try something new. After drooling over the menu outside the restaurant, I made a last minute booking. To my surprise, they offered a Valentine’s Day menu with none of the mouth watering favourites I wished to enjoy but I sat down quietly and ordered. I ordered a lamb dish and my husband ordered the steak.
Both meals were poorly presented and completely without flavour. I asked for mustard to try and disguise the unpleasant taste of the lamb but to no avail. After two bites we sent both dishes back and asked for the check. The maître d’ gave us a bill for the entire amount, asking most aggressively if we “expected a free meal”, insisting he tasted both dishes and they were “fine”. We have no qualms and we are not in the habit of paying for sub par meals that we did not and could not consume. This is not a cheap restaurant and we feel as if we were robbed by an extremely rude crook masquerading as a maître d’ for what is most certainly not “fine” food.
Do not waste your hard earned money at this joint; spend your money at a real French restaurant!
