Came in a short while ago. You did not meet accessibility requests. We booked for ground floor as we had an elderly guest who could not use stairs.
When we arrived you refused to meet this (pre-cofirmed) request.
Leaving this review again, as I note that the last one had been deleted.

Good setting, great ambience, escargots were great, fish of the day was alright, creme brulee was a bit heavy. Overall good french restaurant experience.

Even though there was only outside seating available, even though it was blowing an icy steady chill. This place was magnificent. Heaters positioned next to us and the surprising icing on the cold night was a blanket each provided by the establishment. The food was top notch, the service exquisite and we will definitely be back again irrespective of the weather. A great romantic place to go.

We started with kingfish and the ravioli. The kingfish was a delightful explosion of flavour and the pumpkin ravioli was simply sublime, with the buttery saltiness perfectly offsetting the sweetness of the pumpkin. The barramundi was decent, the beef cheeks were a slight disappointment as the jus was thicker than it needed to be and the meat didn’t quite fall apart. The “profiteroles” were where it all came crashing down for us - I am not even sure that it was choux pastry, it was seemingly a hybrid of a macaroon and a cookie with an uninspired chocolate sauce (just choc syrup I think), fresh cream and coconut ice cream. There was nothing at all culinarily skilful about it that warranted its price.
Decent ambience, hospitable staff. Perhaps we chose the wrong dessert? I don’t like giving bad reviews, I am sure they can do better.

I reckon this is my first few French restaurant I have stepped foot in. It was a company event, and I found it quite acceptable to my taste buds. I just chose whatever I could pronounce and took the safer path it was a good evening accompanied by good ambience restaurant, friendly staff and good fancy food. Merci Beaucoup.

The worst customer service I’ve experienced in a really long time. Aggressive, rude and will never return.
We did not have a good experience at Chez Bagou on the weekend. A small party of 6 chose to sit outside for drinks prior to dinner elsewhere, more than 10 minutes and we were still waiting for menus and to order. Once having ordered we waited nearly 30 minutes for our drinks to which I politely went inside to check where they were. A man who appeared to be the manager comes out in an angry manner with drinks and exclaims very rudely to me that in fact it was only 20 minutes we’d been waiting. A simple apology for the wait would have been accepted rather than his immediate defence. The beers were not full and no longer cold and when requested to replace them with fresh ones, the staff member/manager aggressively began to verbally attack the request. So overcome with his anger he storms back inside and comes back out to his with fresh beers to which he is muttering rude statements under his breath. He then proceeds to stand over the top of my husbands head leans against his back and proceeds to pour the new beer into my husbands glass with force right in his face.
We were then avoided for the remainder of our time at the venue. I’d have thought after weeks in lockdown, having patrons prepared to sit outside in winter and purchase wine would be welcomed by staff of whom haven’t been able to work or operate the business for weeks due to restrictions.
Above all else though, you should absolutely never treat customers with such aggression ever.
We enjoyed a fabulous meal with great service elsewhere and we will be sure to tell family and friends not to go to Chez Bagou.

Food and service incredible! Highly recommend if you love French food.

Our annual friends opening weekend of the ski season trip was cancelled due to COVID. So we decided to recreate the Alp's experience this time in France - in Albert Park at Chez Bagou.

The Manager was incredibly accomodating allowing us to book out the private dining room and decorate it in classic French Apres style.

And the authentic French food, champagne and wines delivered matched perfectly. We delighted in entrees to share including pan seared scallops, oysters shucked to order, duck foie gras and snails.

As a repeat customer, I can never go past the eye fillet steak with pommes frites and bearnaise sauce. My friends raved about the their choice of salmon.

The private dining room allowed us to recreate the classic lodge setting - with no clean up required!

A great night had by all. We might do it again next year - much tastier and easier than driving to Mt Buller.

Aurelien Bagou runs a fantastic restaurant here in Albert park; really lovely atmosphere with chill tunes, friendly staff you can have a laugh with, and of course the food is delicious.
I’ve been to Chez Bagou twice for dinner- two lovely nights. This restaurant is perfect for a memorable occasion with friends or family.

And yes they are still open! Even now in the midst of many businesses closing, they are still providing great take away meals, cheese, wine, or just a pastry and a coffee from their deli setup.

I honestly cannot fault Chez Bagou, highly recommend if you’re in Albert Park!

The 4 of us decided to treat ourselves to French dining at Chez Bagou after a hard week's of work, and were impressed with the service from the waiters, the bistro ambience of dark wood, amber lighting and linen tablecloth, and the complimentary serves of sliced, warm baguette with butter, that were served continuously from the moment we sat to when our mains arrived. The escargot baked in a herb butter sauce is divine. Soak that herb sauce with the baguette. We thoroughly enjoyed our excellently prepared French dishes.

This is a cozy dining place with delicious french dishes. The food are amazing. Sometimes the meat can be a bit hard, but lots of attention have been put to the flavours and finely crafted. Desserts are to die for.

Very good food

They could improve the beer options with some Australian and French craft beers

Chez Bagou was a great choice to spend the evening. I asked for a rare cooked Scotch fillet (Steak Frites) and it was one of the best cooked steaks I've had. The St Jacques scallops were also cooked and seasoned brilliantly. I'll definitely be coming back again.

First time here. The service was five stars only beaten by the food and wine which was six star's highly recommend the place

Overall we had a great experience, food was very tasty and well presented. The staff was all very nice and knowledgeable. The only remark I can add is the cost itself, for a dinner it can come as quite expensive and when compared to actual France, you can almost get a Michelin Star restaurant for these prices that said and being this the reality of Melbourne is a nice place. One more recommendation is that the steak with fries could come with at least some form of veggies or salad.

Lovely french bistro experience, stumbled on a little gem! From their steak tartare to their entrecote to the creme brulee, just delicious. Friendly unpretentious waiters in a welcoming environment, will be back! Thank you!

After my partner and I had 3 courses each, most meals were good, not amazing, but good. The dessert Tarte Tatin was a big let down but not as big a let down as being charged $20 per bottle of wine for corkage! We had some really nice bottles of French wine, we brought back from France and wanted to enjoy these with our French meal. Chez Bagou openly advertises BYO on a Tuesday and Sunday night on the website, however there is no reference of the corkage charge here nor on any menus we were presented with. When we sat down my partner queried the BYO he saw on the website with the waiter, yet still no mention of the $20 per bottle corkage charge. A little transparency here would have gone a long way. Needless to say receiving the bill and seeing a $40 charge for a bottle and a half of wine left such a sour note on what was supposed to be a really special evening for my partner and I. We have previously dined here and enjoyed it hence we were looking forward to coming back. We let the waiter know we were expecting a corkage charge, that goes without saying, but an amount of $40 was not appreciated especially as there was no transparency surrounding the charge. $40 is simply gross profiteering off your customers, it would be far better to not offer BYO on any night. After we dined here my partner sent an email to Chez Bagou to give feedback through the right channels, we never received a response!
