Chez Bagou - French Bistro

I have lived in Melbourne for 13 years and just discovered this gem. Hands down the best food and restaurant experience I have had. I have been recommending to all my friends. Thanks you for a wonderful night.

What an amazing dining experience! I have dined at many places in Melbourne and this restaurant is my favourite. Pricey but the food exquisite. Lovely attentive French staff.

The artichoke, truffle, hazelnut entree was the best I have ever tasted. The decorative bark on the side of the plate with tiny whipped mushrooms - sensational!
Fish main was superb as well as the duck, although slightly salty. Finished with creme brulee to share; lovely!

Few cocktails throughout topped the night. Will be back next time I'm in Melbourne!

This French restaurant was fantastic, yes it was a little pricey, but the food was delicious and the service was great too. We were never waiting too long for anything. All the wait staff were curtious and able to sort out any of our needs

I have been here a few times and loved it but during my recent visits the service and quality of the food has been getting worse. The service was quite poor and the food was nowhere near as good as it used to be. I hope it gets back to what it used to be!

We celebrated a special (duo) birthday at Chez Bagou, and it was a truly special dining experience. The venue upstairs was beautiful and catered towards kids and families, with lots of privacy from the diners below. The organisation for this event was professional and seamless, thank you Auerlien Bagou. There was exceptional service from the moment we walked in, with super delicious food, good portion size and attention to detail. The atmosphere was intimate, but lively. What a perfect night, we'll be back.

Fine classic French cuisine, as it should be done! The regular menu is fairly well set, but the daily specials easily fill any gaps. And right in the heart of Albert Park-recommended!

We had Croquettes & Escargot for entree and both were delicious. Escargot was one of the best I have had in Melbourne. For the mains, Coq au vin was perfect and the steak was on point. Crème brûlée was good but not great. Overall, the experience was a 5/5.

Classic French cuisine with fabulous service. Loved the shared entrees and small plates the best. Everything was so delicious. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately, there are no half star ratings as it would be fairer to give 3.5/5 rather than 3. Staff are friendly enough and service is efficient and attentive. They are very busy which tells you their food is not bad.however, its also not THAT good either. The food there is tasty but slightly bland, and just seems a tad under flavoured. Had much tastier food at other French restaurants.and I'm talking the exact same dishes. For a very busy French restaurant, I would have expected better food to be honest.

Fantastic staff! We ordered a steak meal for a man in a wheel chair who could not afford to eat here. However this was after the staff took time to greet him and make him feel looked after (knowing he wasn’t going to order) the team here is professionally trained and offer a fantastic service TikTok @findinghuggie

We went there for my partner’s birthday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Magnificent food, fantastic wine and on-point service. One of our faves for a special occasion, and we will definitely be back.

Quite simply the best French Bistro experience I've had both here and in France. Excellent food and wine, outstanding decore/atmosphere and 1st class service! Absolutely superb! If I could give Chez Bagou 6 Stars I would!

They need to invest in a restaurant manager. After noting the accessibility requirements of our party in the initial booking, and calling the day before to confirm, on arrival I was horrified to learn that my request for accessibilty were blatantly ignored and members of my party who couldn't manage stairs could 'sit outside'.
Not the best way to celebrate a birthday, the first in two years all four of us could celebrate together - albeit not here.

Great traditional French dishes, relaxed but professional atmosphere, steak tartare was amazing, generous portions, will be back

We went there just passing 9.10pm.they still allowed us to come in and enjoy the mouth watering dessert we were after.

Couldn't enjoy dinner as we didn't plan for it. But surely will do next time.
Got the Cream brulee which was Amazing.and one other. See my pics I didn't get the name. But it's soft cream really light, with valinna ice-cream layed on-top of chocolate layer and with eclair like biscuit. Wonderful experience.
