Chargrill Charlie's Malvern reviews
28Never again. Wedges were disgusting and had clearly been sitting there all day. Rude staff and no bathroom. Staff were unable to tell us where the closest public toilet was for an elderly man. Will never return!
Amazing service by Benji fast and very polite. Great worker keep him he is awesome bravo mate 5 ️
The bbq chicken was juicy and heavenly. Chips salty and fresh. My only regret is knowing that this place exists as I can’t stop thinking about that chicken.
Worst Chargrill Charlie's ever tasted. Cauliflower in the salad was pure mush, the garden salad was at least 2 days old from the colour of the lettuce, no dressing on either of them, chips were overcooked, chicken had no flavour, the cream potatoes (which are usually my favourite) tasted like it had been boiled in watered down milk and the wings were cold. Disgrace to the Chargrill Charlie's franchise to be honest, won't waste my money at this store again.
Amazing Food, Food taste like a nice home cooked meal.
Customer Service is amazing 10/10 would recommend
As local chicken shops go these guys are great. Tasty flavours, their Thai and Portuguese chickens are yum!
Great salads, generous servings and great service.
I will visit often for lunch or dinner.
Absolutely a gem! Got take away from here for dinner tonight. Chicken was fresh and delicious, fries were tasty. Salad was a little weird but the best of it all was apple pie. So so good. If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out.
My first meal at this new restaurant was great. The chicken was moist and flavourful. The salad selection was comprehensive. I had roast pumpkin, coleslaw, and baked cauliflower. It was a little bit spendy at $20 for a quarter chicken but it was delicious and extremely filling. I’ll definitely be back.
Amazing food at an affordable price. I got their dinner box which comes with a half chicken (two large pieces of breast or leg) and 3 sides of which I got chips, cheesy cauliflower, and roast pumpkin. The food is some of the best takeaway I've had in a very long time and the whole dinner box cost only $21. The amount of options you have is great as well, with there being a choice of 3 styles of chicken (roast, Portuguese, and marinated BBQ with a thick BBQ sauce), and an endless choice of sides. All these options are also cooked extremely well and is a massive step up in quality from your usual take-away joint. The staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to anybody looking for a large feed for a reasonable price whether you are dining solo or feeding a family. I will be back!
Went to get takeaway from this establishment for a Friday night feast.
Had a great chat with the lovely owner about how nice an addition it was to the street.
Service and food quality couldn’t be better.
Can not recommend to anyone more highly!
This joint always seemed to be full whenever I passed by, so thought I'll try them out. Got some BBQ chicken drumsticks and a chicken schnitzel.
It might be just me, but people seem to be settling for anything these days.
First of, the BBQ chicken was too sweet without too much flavour to it. Just a bog standard piece of chicken, and really nothing much to write about. After this disappointment, i was so looking forward to the chicken schnitzel. After all it did say that this was a special home made recipe! It tasted foul! The crumb coating was over salted and the chicken inside was really really bad. I couldn't finish my meal.
But this was not the worst of it, when I asked one of them at the counter a question, I was snarled at, after which the same person went to a colleague and said something as they both stared at me and laughed.
Like I said, maybe it's just me, but people seem to settle for so much less these days. I won't! I'm paying good money and I think it is reasonable to expect good food and a respectful attitude.
My first and last visit to this place.
Best charcoal chicken I’ve ever had! Lovely fresh salads and super friendly staff. Highly recommended
Been here a handful of times, good food with some great options. Their downfall is 100% their roast pumpkin though, I’m a huge lover of roast pumpkin and there’s is always severely undercooked and firm. If they could fix this they’d be a 5/5
Had full chicken, large chips and large veg there tonight. All of it was top notch. Thoroughly recommended. Nice staff too.
So good. Go early because there's a queue at peak hours. Juicy chicken, all the sides you can think of, excellent efficient service. A much better option than a lot of takeaway options that exist on Glenferrie.
A huge shout out to the team at chargrill Charlie’s in Malvern. All staff were so welcoming, happy and kind and the food was absolutely delicious! Thank you again I’ll definitely be back!
My partner and I went here for the first time late Friday and had to come back Saturday it was so good!
Service was like nothing we have had before at a takeaway joint. Our server and the manager were absolutely the nicest people! They had no small apple pies left and they gave us the large for the price of a small. The pie was super yum as well.
Great value for money, super yummy moist chicken with super yummy rub. Salads were nice and fresh and chips are made fresh to order as well which is great. I didn't take any photos because we were to excited to eat it when we got home and couldn't stop talking about the service.
We will be coming back here more often than we should I think!
My wife picked up four chickens for lunch on Easter Sunday. She was charged $92.89, when I asked why, the following day, I was told there was a Public Holiday surcharge, really? I would have thought that at $19 each was already enough of a profit for you. Probably one of the busiest days of the year for trading, and you are still gouging your customers for more money.
Next time I will be going to Coles or Woolworths.
This place ia good.
It is not as good as the Sydney ones.
The souce was cold on our chicken and their salad option was fewer than Sydney ones but in total it is still delicious.
When the shop first opened, everything was ready for sale including chicken, salads and sides when the doors opened
Fast forward a few weeks and it would seem that things have dropped off a bit, it's fairly normal now to arrive at the beginning of the lunchtime rush to find the store still being setup and multiple products still not yet ready for sale.
This has been the case on the last 5 occasions I visited, so I can't go above 3 stars at the moment, happy to revise the rating if things change in future.
