Lovely vintage things all around but the customer service is so terrible. I don’t understand how this bold older man that works the register can be so rude. I also hate my job but I’m never rude to anyone. Probably won’t be going back I’d hate to see his face again.

So cool! So many random bits and bobs, you're sure to find something for you if you look hard enough

Regardless whether you want to buy something here or not, this is easily one of the most interesting and fascinating places to visit on Chapel Street. Feels like a museum with free entry. So much history, I think I stayed for 35 mins. I did not buy anything but still felt it was time very much well spent.

The 3 stars is an underestimate of the venue and inventory its self, however is an over estimate of the customer service. Hate going here due to having too deal with the male register assistant. If it werent for 1 persons attitude. This place is great.

Incredible place. Australian history. Should be on a to do list for everyone. Great period clothing and furniture.

Great mix of items and clothing - could easily get lost in here for an afternoon looking at everything. Vintage homeware, posters, records, furniture, clothing, jewellery, toys, lighting and more!

Absolutely atrocious customer service from the older man who works here. Must thinks he's running a museum the way he makes it so difficult to browse or purchase anything from the cabinets. Was made to feel like a nuisance for asking a few simple questions. Perhaps if the items in cabinets were displayed with their tags facing out, we wouldn't need to bother the staff and interrupt their gossiping at the counter!
Will never return. It was overpriced anyway.

A one of a kind store that has over 70 stalls in it, each carrying different things. You won't always find something to buy here but there are lots of interesting things here to look at.

Nearly endless selection of antiques and retro goods. Everything from jewelry to signs, and everything you can think of inbetween. Not a ton of little nick nacks. Could easily spend a few hours in here.

Could have spent all day here, unfortunately parking restrictions put paid to that. Very helpful and friendly staff, great items for sale, wonderful variety.

Lots of antique and odd old stuff here. While this type of shop can be found in many regional and small town, this one is a rare find in Melbourne

I used to love this place, but as people started to discover it and more of these types of places popped up the prices have become ridiculous. Nobody wants to pay top dollar for things they can find at a trash market or on Marketplace for a much cheaper price.

Well it's not really so much of a diverse "bazaar", but it does contain a lot of household antique items as well as some collector's items too. A lot of little trinkets here if you need to fill some space in your house or want something with value.

This is a really fun place to wander around, there’s a great range of stuff, but if you’re looking for genuine vintage or antique goods most of it is very overpriced. There’s also a few stalls that mix non-vintage/antique stuff in with the genuine stuff. I still really enjoy my visits, it’s a fun way to spend an hour.

This is a terrific place to go to if you like a rummage. It is absolutely chock full of interesting goods of all types, no matter what your personal bag is - clothes, jewellery, toys, posters, furnishings, memorabilia, art, homewares - the whole gamut. You can spend hours in here and not see everything, and there are plenty of rare, interesting items. Unfortunately, the vibe is dampened somewhat by the bald guy who works on the front desk. I’m not sure if his whole Basil Fawlty act is natural, or whether he puts it on for the sake of the customers - either way, it’s a drag. Maybe he thinks being rude and dismissive and high-handed and sarcastic makes him some sort of colourful local character - he’s wrong.

It's really just a three and a half star rating however I'm rounding up. When visiting Chapel Street it's just a must place to visit. It's just odds and ends. However the place has ambience and character and worth a visit.

Since moving to Melbourne just over 5 years ago, I’ve been a regular at this place. I remember buying nice vintage furniture, mirrors and random things to put throughout the house and as the years went on, every couple of months I’d find myself back in to either buy something or just to browse as I like vintage things. Today sadly marks the end of my time with them and the many friends I’ve recommended to go there.
I made a purchase for something that I honestly didn’t have my heart set on and wanted a refund. Now I do take ownership for the fact that I made a mistake in even going through with the purchase in the first place without thinking it through. However,
I did feel I was forced and led to purchase the product even though she gave me a good price. (Wondering if it was even a good price as there were several of the same items all scattered throughout their stock).

Most notably was the man behind the counter (Tall, Bald with glasses). Every time I have shopped there, not once has he ever given good service. Always short with customers and when observing everyone he serves it seems that they’re just a waste of time or are a hassle, even though they are literally PAYING HIS WAGE!
So, in the years I’ve been here not once has he looked me in the eye or acknowledged me until I politely addressed him and asked for a refund on the product I purchased in front of him 5 minutes ago, with the receipt. He scoffed and said “No. I mean why would you do that? You can exchange for another item if you like. ”
I understood that, but did not want anything else in the store, I told him my circumstance and how I felt about being sold this item which I was unhappy with. He refused to spend anymore time with me and kept to his stapling of blank paper and pointed to a sign behind him (Away and out of view from Point of sale) amongst a mess of other things saying no refunds. I said “I guess I’m gonna have to deal with it then aren’t I sir? ” He replied “Mhmm”

It’s safe to say I’m quite unhappy. Not because I didn’t get the outcome I wanted, but without a doubt the poorest service I’ve had. It’s always good to have the effort that I put in to acknowledging you and ask how your day is going to at the very least have that reciprocated. As a great leader in Aussie retail once said, it’s the people that make the business.
