Chapel Street Bazaar reviews
54Such an awesome quirked up place! My friend and I spent about an hour just looking around, there are so many awesome vintage finds here! Would definitely recommend
Huge variety of second hand items. Around 50 stalls selling vintage, antique and modern items. Includes clothing, decorative items, jewellery, furniture, kitchenalia, memorabilia, some music and electronics. Most items have price tags and can be negotiated on.
My 2nd favourite place in Melbourne (NGV is first but like.it's a close call). The people who work here are phenomenal, kind, helpful and just really lovely! The items inside range from amazing to downright insane! I've found the most random things that have been the perfect thing for my projects (like vintage photo frames I can paint).
They have a Fraggle Rock plush. I'll leave that there. Truly an icon.
I go in and out of this place regularly. It's a gem of a place. Exploring knic knacks or a poster, occasionally you come across original pieces. The staff are delightful. Scrummaging through stuff is a delightful way to spend time
Such a fun eclectic shopping adventure-you name it they have it. So many beautiful items, so well priced, wonderful catalogue of beautifully made items- what a history. If you haven't been, you must- even a great destination for tourists and out of towners. Do yourself a favour.
Been a huge fan of this place for many years. Always find a way to visit when I'm in town. A must stop place for any collector
Not as good as it used to be but then nothing is there's only so much mid century stuff out there and so often you can churn it before it's buggered still recommend people always poke their head in and have a look cos you just never never know what you might find that you always needed and didn't know you did
Many many kind of vintage and antique items here
Easy to find things
Tidy area set up a block as a block so easy to walk and find the items you looking for
Always got something here every time I come and always have something updated
Not many place around the city like this
Friendly owner and he's always gave me a recommendation about what I interested
Love this place, It so artistic with every type of art you could think of. Plus you can barter with the price. (You can't do that online) There's a real community vibe, PS don't get there too early as some of the store holders have not turned up yet.
Wide range of interesting antiques but prices are on the high side with few real bargains.
Sundays- opens at 12
Helpful staff, also gave good advice about parking meter fines. Diverse selection of items, easy to spend hours browsing here
I have visited twice when in Melbourne. As a vintage lover, I love spending time in this store and just looking at all the bits and bobs. You can find some bargains if you have the time to look through all the items on display.
This shop is not really accessible for wheelchair / mobility aid users, elderly or those who have mobility difficulties. The space is VERY jam packed, cramped with small walkways and lots of opportunities to accidentally knock things over.
Just a heads up to anyone searching for Empoli Genie bottles. There were none when I visited. I really had hoped there would be
Enjoyed the atmosphere, lots of items! Had a wonderful time browsing and even taking a few trips back in time.
I was very excited to make a purchase and support the store, and was willing to wait in an extensive line to pay - I wanted to pay for a $3 item with my card, however, I was met with a bitter, abrupt, dismissive, and rude interaction after being told there was a minimum of $10 to pay on card.
I was apprehensive from the start to pay with card, as there was no sign indicating there was a minimum amount to pay on card.
The bald worker could have had a better manner and tell me there was a limit and give me some other options, rather than have an abrasive manner leaving me shocked, deeply disturbed, and empty handed as I left the shop.
Other than that interaction, it was very exciting to find a hidden gem in urban Melbourne to entertain my interest in vintage antiques.
I like this store. Customer service definitely ranges from polite to attitude and over attentiveness.being told to leave your bags before your 3 feet in the door isn’t the best welcome but I understand. They have some nice items but prices can go from slightly below market value to insane amounts. Overall I enjoy browsing here
Yes they have decent stuff.
Yes they have decent prices.
Yes there haggling skills are very good, they know how to do deals for mutliple items.
But I walked in with my ndis worker. This bald man when he found out that the woman I was with was a worker completely turned his back on me and started asking my worker really inappropriate questions about how hard it must be to be a worker and does she get any protection from the govemernt.
My worker was looking very uncomfortable. I stepped in and told him that we work together because she had personal experience with mental health and that's why she is such a good worker, because she is a mental health advocate.
This rude man had the audacity to say to us "oh well you two look normal! " And he got out of the awkward environment he just created.
I fail to see how telling two disabled people that the look normal when you just insulted all people on ndis as problematic people is freindly customerservic.
I fail to see how you can call yourself normal or not problematic.
The whole ordeal shook what little self confidence I had.
The authentic peacock feathers and art prince of the walking dead were nice tho. Just wish your staff had the same amount of craftsmanship in their personalities
This shop is is full of so many collectables it is a tourist attraction in itself. Take a trip down memory lane and pick up a curio while you're at it. Highly recommend.
I love this place but I do find that the gentleman behind the counter is a little rude at times and I think could be more helpful in a way that would benefit the business.
The actual owners are great people from the experience I had with them.
Note this is just my opinion other people may have had a more positive experience.
Good selection of collectibles for all kinds of collectors. From antique furniture, mid century modern, bric-a-brac and even taxidermy. Good place to visit on Prahran.
I don't understand how come this shop selling second hand with overpriced, some stuff are more expensive than the brand New in the mall.so disappointing
Beautiful store, clear prices, friendly staff. There were a lot of unique items I hadn’t seen in a vintage store before. I’ll have to come back when I have more time to have a better look. Has both an upstairs and downstairs. Lots of great discounts as well
