Walked in to the bistro early Saturday evening and were warmly greeted and given a choice of tables. Ordered a risotto, side salad, and a fish special off the specials board. Sat at a table just outside. Food arrived very quickly and was outstanding. Very clean place. Great service and relaxed atmosphere. Music was not too loud to enjoy conversation while dining. I would have gladly paid more for our meals as they were worth it. It got very busy as we were finishing our meals so we left quickly so others could enjoy our spot. Too quickly to say 'Thank You'. So 'Thank You! '

Really cannot fault our dinner at all. Not sure if management have changed or the staff there are just happy to be there but everything was just peachy. Kyle was the perfect person to welcome and seat us and the food was AMAZING. Parma was perfect - not so big that you couldn’t finish it. The calamari was soooooo tender and melt in your mouth and the fish n chips faultless. Thank you for a lovely memorable dinner.

Stopped at this place for lunch on December 29th 2022 on the way to Mallacoota from Melbourne.
Even though the place is a little dated, the menu looked promising - we thought instead of going to Maccas just about a block away, we would support a local pub. So why not.

I ordered the brisket burger and my partner who’s a seafood lover was sold on the special - the ‘Local Fisherman’s Basket’, we added 2 beers with the order.

The beers were great, nice and cold. Then came the food…

The brisket burger was tiny and came with literally a handful of chips. As you can see from the photo, the steak knife was an extreme overkill if that was supposed to ‘help’ cutting the burger into half. The burger bun was acceptable, but the brisket was bland even though it was well-cooked. Chips were great though, but a couple more wouldn’t hurt. The ‘Local Fisherman’s Basket’ came on a plate? Ok, that’s fine, but the presentation was extremely underwhelming for a $45 dish. The freshness of the oysters was also questionable, had one of the two and it was not pleasant. The other bits was just, meh.

Won’t be back, sorry. Extremely disappointed.

**Did not stay at the hotel, we just went to the bistro. My review is only for the bistro.

Came here for dinner with my family. Great family run business. Service was friendly, efficient and excellent. The food was fresh and tasty, portions were great.

Had a nice steak lunch. Prices average, staff friendly, service good. I must remind myself not to choose a table near the door in cold weather. Recommended.

We had dinner there. Problems with our scotch fillet meals being tough. Ended up eating alone! They replaced it but was still not the best. Service was exceptional but they need to replace their supplier. Had a scotch fillet in Brisbane 2 months ago and it was simply the best ever experienced, only $6 more. The wait staff were so wonderfully apologetic but management need to fix this issue of poor quality control with the steaks.

Tried this place last night and thought I'd order a chicken parma for myself and the spaghetti napoli for my daughter. I can honestly say that was the worst meal I and my daughter have ever had. The food had absolutely no flavour whatsoever. Ive had hospital food better than this place! We couldn't even finish our meals it tasted that bad!

I didn’t stay onsite, but I had a meal at their bistro. Excellent food and great service from every wait staff I encountered. A side note, their sticky date pudding was perhaps, one of the best I’ve had in a very long time.

If I could give zero star, I would, the manager on duty of the bar tonight (26th sep 2022, at around 8: 30 p.m.) a middle aged chubby man with grey hair, wearing black Casio watch on left hand, with a blue shirt, is extremely disrespectful, I don't reckon someone like him should work in the hospitality!

Overall it was a pleasant meal and the staff were quite nice. However the meals kinda questionable to a degree. The sausage duo was satisfactory, but it was evident the vegetable mix was frozen and the tomatoes served with the battered fish in the form of a garden salad, were nothing but awful. However, the calamari and salad was fabulous, the calamari in particular which was well seasoned and tender. As for the battered fish i highly doubt that it was local but it nevertheless was satisfactory. Being the disappointing and neglected place Lakes is, there is little the coastal town has to offer in the way of food so visiting the central hotel becomes a mere necessity. Whilst all that being said, the central hotel provides merely satisfactory food and a adequate spot for a meal.

Everything great other than the gaming machines on the property. I am reluctant to write this as I was informed the machines that don’t work are nothing to do with them. By the reaction of the staff they are a bone of contention. They take your money, that’s it. Fifty people each machine each day and whoever owns the machines is making $500 a day. There’s no phone number, email or name of company in charge of these machines. Central hotel. These machines are on your premises. If they’re nothing to do with you them please cover them from your guests, have them removed or at least warn YOUR customers with a noticeboard they don’t work and have nothing to do with you. It’s a scam under your roof. The owner is laughing all the way to the bank while your good name gets tarnished

Absolutely stunning food, and amazingly quick service on a very busy night. Could not jump over the amount of food on the plate and I couldn’t eat everything, but what I did have was delicious

We didn’t stay but we went to the restaurant.
We are vegetarian. We were actually looking for a nice place to dine…. While we were waiting for someone to allocate us the table, we also had a look at the menu and it only had 1 vegetarian option. Hence, we decided we would only have chips and drinks. Because we were really hungry. Just then, One of the gentleman staff came to us and we requested him if they can just serve us chips and some drinks as we don’t want to eat the only vegetarian dish that was there on the menu. We had to request because the menu didn’t have an option to order the chips by itself.
When we requested for this, the gentleman said, “expensive drinks? ”. I was like sorry what do you mean. He said no no i was just kidding.
It put me off so much that because we just wanted to eat chips, you can’t judge a customer. We then decided we really can’t afford this expensive attitude of the staff so we better leave. … very bad attitude of the staff. Don’t know how to treat the customers

It was highly recommended, but after travelling many hours looking forward to dinner we ordered local flathead tails and salad meals costing close to $30 a plate. It was a few chips mixed salad leaves as if straight from Woolworths one small quarter of tomato the tiny bit of fish thick with batter. I asked to speak to the lady in charge she was nice about it, BUT her reply was sorry if we came back she could have given us a free dessert. NOTHING MAKES ME MORE UP SET WHEN YOU PAY TOP MONEY FOR RUBBISH.
Be smart try some were else.
Kfc would have been a better choice.
