Cattle Yards Inn reviews
33We had a big group today so was a little noisy and echoed a little. Not a lot of parking, only street parking out the front.
Recently went to the Cattle Yards after recommendation from a friend - was a quiet Saturday lunch time, but the folks working were great.
Got myself a mixed grill and my mate had the spudarama parma - got some garlic bread as well.
Garlic bread is big, tasty, and bloody awesome.
Mixed grill and parma were massive portions - my mate couldn't finish the parma, but she was stoked.
Will definitely pop back next time we're in Ballarat
Absolutely loved it, old school feel, great service, amazingly tasting food and great portion sizes, for great prices, will 110% be going back
Decided to give our local a go tonight for steak night and I'm so glad we did. From the moment we walked in we were greeted by Don and treated like we were old mates.
We both had porterhouse and it was perfect, chips were hot and crunchy and steaks cooked exactly to our liking.
We could easily make this our weekly place to dine.
Thanks Guys.
Ordered a couple pizzas, garlic bread and chips through Uber eats. Came quick, was hot and very nice. One of the best pizza joints in Ballarat!
Was definitely the worst quality Chicken Parma I've eaten to date, this isn't an exaggeration, the bread crumbs were thicker than the small slither of chicken in the middle, the slice of ham on the top was a close contender to being the same thickness as the chicken, if I had of had a ruler the chicken wouldn't have been 2 millimetres thick the whole way through.
A good place for scum to hang out. The owner doesn't care. Just pure filth really. Would do the world justice when the place burns.
Just going on the Aussie pizza I ordered which was very ordinary. The menu stated the usual ingredients for an Aussie.egg, cheese etc. The egg was crumbled hard boiled egg and the cheese was feta. They may have been going for an up market vibe, but missed the mark there. A shame as the crust was nice.
Have been here a couple of times for a family lunch and although the service can be a little slow when they are busy it's still a pleasant place to sit and have lunch. When the meals were delivered they were nice and hot.
The staff were very pleasant and the service quite prompt. A large range of chicken parmas were on offer and I tried this. As a bit of polite feedback guys, there really is no need to bash the chicken out until it's the size of the plate and about 4mm thick. I know many pubs are doing this now, and first impressions are impressive to some people. It does make for a dry meal that quickly becomes an endurance. Do give it a try by leaving some thickness to the piece. Your pub has great potential.
Monday Lunch (Senior Meal) Penne with Bolognese Sauce I'm sure out of a Can. Two star rating for the drink that was enjoyable and the Barmaid was friendly
You can get big parmigiana here and you won't be disappointed best parmigiana good serves too and friendly staff.
Visited this great old pub on Valentine's Day as I have always been intrigued by the beautiful building. Our meals were sensational. My partner ordered the salmon on a bed of mashed potato - this meal looked and tasted amazing. Like something from a very up-market eatery. Brilliant. I had one of the many parma options and it was delicious and of very generous proportions. Their menu is unbelievably extensive and the chef is clearly very, very good. Thank you! What let it down for me was the lack of interest or service from the male bar staff. Were hosting some kind of event in the back room and made me and my partner feel like a distraction. The female on the floor was run off her feet servicing food delivery drivers and takeaway pick ups. Maybe hit by staff shortages, but based on the food, this place should be flat out all the time.
A very quiet pub, ordered lamb shanks and they were tender and delicious. Tried to order Sparking Water but they didn't have any. That was disappointing to say the least.
Meals are fantastic value, lunch time Parma chips salad and a pot of beer $20 and I couldn't finish it all was massive.
Stopped here on curry night, was extremely busy, as im not a curry eater, i decided to go for pizza instead. Ive gotta say I was pleasantly surprised, the pizza was awesome.
I'll definitely be back for a second round
Dated dining area. Dated food presentation. I found three hairs in my food. I would give zero stars if that were allowable
It was a very nice meal. I had the fish and salad with chips if course without it being overload on the plate. Decent serve of the fish in the beer batter which was perfect
Seriously was so tasty and very generous on the toppings.their Tandoori pizza is the best.always the same standard.excellent job guys! THANK YOU ️
Seems to have lost some of the Aussie pub charm in the last year or so. Basic meals at a low price, maybe the pizzas are the better end of the food quality wise. Laminex tables, drinks served in cans. Not the best pub in Ballarat, by a long way, but there is plenty of room and an ok meal for a low price.
