Captain Melville

I came in last night with my hangry energetic young family. And from the minute we entered we were well looked after by many of the wonderful staff. From catering to the pram and changing the kids. To keeping the kids entertained and helping clean a mess they had also made. They could see we were a little stressed about the craziness and checked in on us regularly. To top it off we all enjoyed our meals and at least didn't leave a mess with that because it was all eaten a million thank yous for a great experience

I hate this bar. I live across the street and they blast music till 7am in the morning. 1 star purely out of spite.

Apple cider was crisp with the perfect amount of sweetness, the perfect drink for a hot day. I had the Fried Chicken Burger, the chicken was beautifully fried to crispy perfection.my family reports that the rest of the food was amazing too.

We had a family (21 including grandchildren) Xmas dinner at captain Melville. We had a wonderful dinner, kids enjoyed the space and their kids meals. The staff were super friendly and the service was exemplary. Thanks so much to all at Captain Melville.

Been here a few times, Ambience, Service and Food are always excellent. Very highly recommend a visit.

Have been to Captain Melville on many occasions, was rather disappointed today, ordered lemon soda bitters and they were flat. When mentioned it was brushed aside. Chips tasted like they had been cooked in the fish oil.

What an amazing venue. We organised our End of Year party for 80 employees. I truly hope to have another function here. Every aspect of this place is simply beautiful and historic. The food was amazing, prepared fresh, and the service was even better but nothing beats the place's ambiance. Our attendee feedback included the feel and look of Captain Melville, plenty of food, the food's quality, and the staff's friendliness. Thank you Team

Booked Captain Melvilles for a family Christmas lunch on a Saturday. I had put in my booking request that we were taking my elderly grandmother with us, and they did everything to make sure she had the easiest table to access (even called me to let me know about a side entrance)

The customer service on the day was incredible, the chef even threw in some free appetisers for us (we were a group of 13). Staff were super friendly and food was great. Would 10/10 recommend going here for any occasion!

Had a team lunch out the back. Great food, fantastic service, nothing was too much to ask. We'll be back

Wonderful food (yes, a little pricey, but for quality and location I think the pricing is fair), great drinks and lovely wait service! The only way it can improve is to have more seats outside ️

Great space with some outdoor seating. Barrel aged negroni was very nice. I thought they served food, but excellent beer selection for a quick drink.

I'd like to make formal complaint. Tonight Sat 9th Apr 2022, I was ordering a drink when a extremely rude bartender was serving me. He got this unfriendly manner and didn't want to serve. He got this aggressive tone of voice and seemed to not want to serve us at all. Very negative and cold vibe from him. This was at the inside bar (NOT outside) as I notice there are two bars there, smaller one at the outside and bigger one on the inside. This was at the inside bar. He was wearing grey colour t-shirt, with a tattoo on his right forearm, blonde hair male bartender.

This rude bartender honestly not sure what gotten into him but it was the most extreme rude customer service I've ever experienced. I'd like him to get formal written warning for what he did or even sacked. He got no place to be in such good environment like Captain Melville. It just ruins the reputation unfortunately. I'd be telling all my friends and family to not come here ever again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Good beer selection, fish n chips batter recommended, and prices just make sense, love atmosphere at the back side, friendly staff

Warm, friendly and attentive staff. A very underrated chef and one of the best late night bars in Melbourne.

A hidden gem in the CBD! Absolutely delicious cocktails and good food! The dining hall is outside but feels so cosy and warm, even on a cold winters night. I really appreciated a staff member checking in with us after we had ordered what seemed like too much food for 4 people (apparently noticed by the chef) and wanted us to be sure of our hunger before they started cooking it. This honesty and care is really refreshing as I have been to plenty of other places that don't inform you of their large servings or concerns of food wastage. I would love to come back soon!

This place is great! Atmosphere is cool. Their staff is also really friendly (A big shoutout to “D”). They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about, and you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. They made my little ones occupied with activities. Food is pretty good for their prices it’s 100% worth it. More power on your business!

Good food, good beers, good vibes. Definitely recommended for catch ups as it's a great place to eat and chill with mates, even with kids. Service is also great.
