Canterbury International Hotel reviews
55Looks good from the outside, never stayed there just waited for a bus at the bus stop outside
Lovely place, bathroom was awesome. Just needs a microwave for those of us on business who can't eat out
We loved our stay, 4 nights, rooms gorgeous and clean, the furnishings were exceptional in our room and the whole motel. Breakfast was free for being a member which was free to join, was no complaints when free, had a hot brekky and toast, tea n coffee, ect. Would definitely stay again.
NEGATIVE FEEDBACK - On checking in I parked directly below a security camera in front of a sign stating 'For our guests safety and security this hotel is covered by 24 hour surveillance. ' (Please see attached) Between 7.20 - 7.45am the following morning a huge scratch was made along the length of my vehicle as if by a hotel trolley. At 7.50am I asked reception manager Chris Bayne to check the security camera footage, providing him the above times. He said he would look into it. Fifteen minutes later he would not come to reception, hiding in his office until I rang his phone, making him come out. He refused assistance saying 'the cameras don't work'. It was a lie. Whilst he was saying this I could see my car on his monitor in the reflective reception window behind him. I asked for Chris' Managers details, he refused to give these, only providing his own reception email and eventually mumbling a name Finch. I emailed Mr. Finch, requesting a response and review of photos submitted.no response after multiple attempts. In removing the black mark, scratches deep into the paint were exposed. My requests for service were ignored and treated with dishonest disregard. Very dishonest management with false representation of service in their advertising and signage. Please avoid.
Ok we didn't actually stay in the hotel, just having dinner occasion here and having good experience. Good food quality served as well as friendly service.
Good location for people visiting inner East side of Melbourne, bus stop just outside the hotel to Box Hill Central and the train station.
Great Hotel to stay staff are friendly and nice and quiet accept for the od loud car zipping down Springvale rd
Only 30 minutes away from the city of Melbourne by car depending on traffic
Great suburban motel.
Restaurant not open but plenty of cafes near by.
Rooms nicely decorated, with a good ensuite and shower.
I have stayed there for 8 days in that time. I was amazed with the kindness from the front desk, to the lovely cleaning lady, I didn’t get her name, but wow, the most perfect hotel, clean, close to shopping centre, I thank the staff for a wonderful stay, Jennifer watson Tasmania
Very nice place to stay if you are doing anything in the Eastern suburbs. Was there on 14 June the night manager was very helpful and courteous, he was what you should expect wonderful man who saw a solution not a problem. As was the lovely ladies on front desk on our arrival. The one small down fall was the dining room was closed.
The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Unfortunately we couldn't have an even ing meal due to being short staff.
But the staff that was there were very friendly and helpful.
Continental breakfast only.
Friendly staff. We arrived a bit early after an international flight and they prepared the room for us immediately. Bus stops a few 100 meters away.
Breakfast is a bit scarce. Rooms ok, could use more closet space.
Great place to stay, staff on desk are always willing to help with what they can, always a smile and nothing is a bother love staying there
I have been coming to the Canterbury International Hotel for many years to attend BNI weekly meeting. Good meeting rooms.
Me and my partner came here for a new years get away from all thr stress. The reception and house keeping staff are very friendly. The main receptionist (I didn't get her name) even let us change room because the original room we booked didn't meet our requirements.
We had a fantastic trip and I would highly recommend this hotel both for its location and for how affordable it is $347 for the presidential sweet what more could you ask for.
Friendly staff at check in and departure. Minimum of traffic noise in our room.
Clean rooms. Lovely big towels
Room was great, if maybe a little cramped. Bathroom was enormous and looked freshly renovated. The included breakfast was a bit disappointing to be honest and there was a fairly loud fan like noise going all night.
Location is ideal.
Rooms are decent, fairly clean. Had an unexpected cockroach in one of the draws.
Staff is sometimes non existent, had to call the desk phone at reception a couple of times.
Noise is where this all goes to hell. Can clearly hear cars on the 2 main roads outside, not much can be done about this but something to take into account.
Biggest issues is the noise from the restaurant and people walking outside through the reception doors. Restaurant patrons can clearly be heard as it echos all the way down. Piano music can be clearly heard from room and this is at 10: 30pm.
Worst is when people use the reception doors when decide to speak ever so loudly while leaving. Why management wouldn't make them leave through an other door is beyond me.
Would I recommend, probably not. I definitely won't be coming back.
Stayed here for 2 nights in room in the executive suite on 30th/31st 2022 for $364.
Cons
- lacks basic amenities e.g. Microwave, only cutlery in room is a teaspoon
- bed is very soft, my husband is larger than I am, and I spent the whole night rolling towards him
-restaurant is closed Sunday/Monday and there is no room service
- no airport courtesy bus, trip to airport is $91-115 taxi/Uber or 2 trains and a Airtrain
- day staff were lovely, however girl on afternoon/evening shift was rude and abrasive.
Pros:
-clean
-has a gym and a pool
-lovely "old money aesthetic" e.g. Heavy wood furniture, gorgeous curtains, large mirrors, chandeliers, fake marble bathrooms etc. So very beautiful appearance. Great for taking photos
- right down the road from large shopping centre called Forest Hill
- quality rooms for the price
Overall, would stay again if the mattress was firmer, put would avoid for long term stays since no microwave
I demand the breach of privacy be remedied as last time i stayed here the receptionist took my Passport and personal information and copied them onto the file in the private office behind the counter and indicated she was passing this information onto a third party. This is a breach of privacy LAWS.
PLEASE ENSURE SHE HAS DELETED THESE FILES
Very very long waiting for checkin more than 30 minutes despite only 1customer at the receptor
