Canterbury Girls Secondary College

Ive spend a lot of years at this school, im almost in year 11. I can say with confidence that this is the worst school ive been too, the staff are very rude and homophobic (especially the music teachers for some reason) some of the kids there are honestly terrible and disgusting people.

They have a year 7 camp, which was genuinely miserable from what ive heard. The teachers dont give any support or even attention if you do bad in lessons however if youre not wearing the correct shoes they will go haywire on you.

and finally the yard is never clean and extremely hard to navigate.

genuinely one of the worst schools ive been to, if youre a parents and youre thinking of sending your child here dont.

My year during Yr 7 was horrible. At the start it was alright, but at the end of term 4 it was the worst, making me feel horrible. I had a problem with one of my classmates and the Yr 7 coordinator didn't do anything, told me to stop using less social media and how this issue was out of school hours. The person I had a issue with, went to the office to talk about her well being, clearly mine and my friends didn't matter. The day after, she told my sister that her and I shouldn't talk about the LGBTQ+ community near the music staff. I don't understand why they have a problem with it? It does alright academically but the school is horrible with dealing with certain issues.

I only rate this college because I heard that this is the school/college Park Rosé studied

Severely underfunded, no one to blame however worrying when buildings need renovations. Investing in the wrong areas such as louvered windows, double railings and doors for hallways that have neither heating nor air conditioning therefore completely redundant.
Cleaning is done only once in a while. Self-explanatory. Understaffed, unable to support students AND teachers. On multiple occasions teachers are brought back from retirement. Some teachers are trying their hardest however if they don't know the content how can they teach it?
Priorities are scuffed, lack of concern when it comes to microaggressions towards people of color from peers and teachers. On multiple occasions students of ethnic backgrounds are targeted for things that go unnoticed when from those of Anglo-Saxon backgrounds.
Bias towards subjects, students who study French were given the opportunity to visit abroad but students who study Japanese are neglected and requests from them are always "pending".
School does not value feedback as it does not concern itself with it in the first place.
However, standing against bullying amongst students is a strong notion the school enforces. Can only defend the school with it could be worse. The neighborhood is safe. School is small but alright.

Its alright, but has a lot of improvement to go, the rules are outdated, the uniform is.ew. There is no contact with the community. The teachers don't care about your learning.

As far as I know there isn’t a lot of bullying going on in the school, I have a lot of friends at school and everybody seems to almost get along, most of the teachers are really nice and we welcome new students really well

Excellent school! My daughter studied in this school from yr7-12. Most teachers especially vce teachers were great. They had good positive relationships with the students. They were excellent in teaching when my daughter was studying there over 6 years. She received 6 medical schools offers after she graduated from Canterbury Girls Secondary College.

Good location, however the staff don't seem to be fully engaged in teaching the students.

Come here if u wanna feel gum underneath desks, see walls fall down (c block), food all over the floors and tables, 10 different types of perfume at the lockers (all at once), have discord banned (even at home bro idek), have your classmates go to juvie, not be able to go to the toilet without signing a book (that has to go into the bathroom w u), clogged and broken toilets w/ no tp, and more!
would vote 10/5 if i could, this has to be the best wannabe private school ever.

The staff care more about how short your skirt is and what you appear to others as rather than actually doing academically well.they dont care about your wellbeing and some are extremely disrespectful.when issues are raised nothing happens the teachers or students in the situation just get "warned" and nothing else happens.the rules are so harsh for no reason. Most of the staff are old fashioned and they go by outdated rules that are unfair and arent fun.just say you did badly on a test/exam the teachers arent comforting.they single you out and embarrass you infront of others.there are about 4 or 5 really nice and understanding teachers.thats it, my 3 years of experience at this school so far is miserable and incredibly hard to have a stable healthy mental state.most girls in this school are toxic and fake, i want to move.

Teachers care way more about the reputation of the school and not the well being of its students and how they are treated. There are many teachers that treat students with such disrespect.the school seems fine to parents but if you actually ask the students if they like it their school, I promise you they won't have positive responses.the school is RUN by incredibly old-fashioned teachers. This school is not progressive and very unenjoyable for students. So many people move schools after year 7 and every other year after that.not a nice culture or environment.

The teachers are knowledgeable, BUT this does not mean the experience of attending this school is good by any measure. There are NO appropriate measures ANY teachers take to minimise or deal with bullying. Apparently if bullying between students occurs outside of school time they are not responsible, but if a student does not wear uniform correctly outside of school you get a detention. Two vice principals drove to Camberwell Woolworths and waited for the after-school bus to arrive (DURING AFTER SCHOOL HOURS WHICH WAS NOT EVEN SCHOOL PROPERTY), so that they could hand out detentions to people incorrectly wearing uniform. This is a totalitarian archaic system which should be illegal. This school cares more about facades and appearances (uniform and painting lines around the school) than student well being and relationships. Do not send your child here. Thank me later. Also no aircon in B block needs to change, it is horrific in there.

You will not find a more archaic system. The 2022 Senate Parliament Committee finds it "deeply troubling [with] gatekeeping practices, inadequate consultation [and] lack of appropriate adjustments. " This is exactly what is on offer at Canterbury Girls.

My friend went to this school and many of the male teachers were not properly educated on certain areas surrounding teenage growth and many students were often put in difficult situations regarding topics such as periods. It is a shame to see an all girls school have such poorly educated teachers, but on the most part, the staff are lovely and provide a wonderful learning experience for students.

Some students good, some students bad. Some teachers good, some teachers bad.new desks needed, new change rooms needed, better air conditioning in B block needed, dont make students do a language until year 10, and a C block wall fell down lol. Overall we need a better curriculum and to be more organised:)

Ha, I find it funny a lot of parents are reviewing this - they don't really know the harsh dark side of it. Most of the teachers are rather harsh, they'll single you out and there, you've been embarrassed in front of everyone. Theres gum everywhere too

Great school. My daughter is in seal class here. And she loves her friends and teachers as well as satisfied with most curriculums and activities that school has provided. She is proud of this school. Highly recommend!

Y’all coming here because of rosè but you should put reviews if you’ve never been to this school because you don’t actually know what it’s like behind the scenes with their pupils experience and putting up full stars is basically giving the school fake reviews and fake reputation, because what if it’s actually worser than what it seems to be
