Calder Park Thunderdome reviews
40The track was quite rough, garages had little ventilation. Overall it was a good weekend with FSAE.
Had a stall at the drags was great helpful staff and good atmosphere really good crowd also will definitely go again
Visited Calder Park raceway to watch some drifting. I’d never been before, was a bit worried I would get bored after an hour. How wrong I was. Had a great time watching these talented drivers drift around the track. Was actually very exciting. We were very close to the fence. If you do this be prepared for a lot of smoke and bits of rubber on your clothes and skin. All part of the fun we thought.
Ended up spending 5 hours there. Was great to walk around and see some really nice cars and merchandise before you go in.
They advertised food vans. There was a Boost Juice and coffee/donut van. Thought there may have been more. There is a cafe on site. We took a few of our own snacks. Earlybird entry online is $30 a ticket. If you buy on the day, I’m quite sure it’s $40. Overall a very enjoyable day. Already booked for the next one.
I love this place. I wish, I wish, I wish it would be restored back to glory. It has so much potential but at the end of the day it's a great place for motor heads.
Excellent day out drag racing on Sunday
Staff are friendly
Highly recommended for novice or pro drivers
Attended a car club display. Well organised and plenty of space. Kid friendly too, we had a great day
I like the Thunderdome for racing, drifting it's perfect and the keep it reet event was a good night plenty of parking, plenty of food vans needed more toilets and seating standing on the hill gives a good viewing platform the parking area was a bit muddy but I love Calder park it has some good turns for drifting
Would be good to see some capital investment here to turn it into a Motorsport Park. The bones are there but it currently looks abandoned and haunted
Calder Park visit was awesome today, went to see the return of Australian stock can series. (NASCAR) the owners are working hard to bring back the park to its former glory and try and get the Thunder Dome back which we may even see NASCAS US return an international round to Australia.
Staff where pretty friendly, cost of admission was reasonable @$25 adults for the day.
Food was pretty pricey though $20 for a burger and chips $5 for a can of soft drink, and to be honest the burger was pretty average. They also had woodfired pizza truck which looked pretty good but small pizza was $16. And a coffee van doing good coffee at an average price.
It was a great day out and they are doing some great work to try and bring it back for future generations. Thanks guys, I'll be back again soon.
Drifting was amazing but food vendors overpriced and waited 50 min for a coffee wasn't told when ordering how long a wait
Keep it reet drift event is back, friday nights 5pm to 11pm. Great event was aloud of fun.great to see the events starting up again there.
Love what's in my backyard. Would love to see it renovated or fixed up and get rid of the blue and yellow.
Never been here but will review anyway. Photo is of my Monaro. May sell if anyone is interested.
Place is in major need of a renovation, But at least its somewhere we can go and Race our cars, that's close
Great, Legal drag racing, drifting, lap runs etc all at a reasonable $. Beats losing your licence! They've V8s, turbo 4&6s all the way to exotic supercars.
We climbed up from the side (broke in) and had a beer on the busted seats.lol.a lot of memories from the old days when American Nascars were racing here. Fun times
Sad to see how the thunder dome has become over the years but still great to go to the friday night drifts!
Not so great for the people who live nearby and have to put up with the noise late at night. Events with this level of noise should not still be going at 11pm on any night near residential areas.
Don't know never been there although friends love it, I stopped at the roadside petrol station /maccas/ for lunch next to the thunderdome
Attended the drifting on Saturday and my nephew had a medical issue and the staff were AMAZING! I can not thank them enough for their assistance in getting him to the car before fainting again. Knowing the security staff are tuned in I am safe in the knowledge if he is unwell at future events we will be supported. Which when he has chronic medical issues unfortunately may happen again. We have attended a few events over the past few years and have loved it. We will return hopefully the next drifting event.
