Butchers Diner reviews
32 Please do not order:Steak&egg
it is really just a very chewy and dry steak with fried eggs…
I have no idea why should I spend my money for this…
but pork tongue was good, and also the best among everything I ordered
This place is overrated. Food was ok, but small serves for what was paid & chicken was overcooked - no single serve wines, no plates to eat off, no napkins or water bought for our table and no toilets.: (
Unpretentious and great value! Butchers diner offers relatively simple comfort food done really really well.wash it down with a half bottle of vino or a beer.excellent service and is open late, what's not to like? !
The guy or “staff” was extremely rude and ignored us until we ordered. Couldn’t believe it. Ordered a burger and the steak sandwich. Burger was fine.
Steak sandwich was really bad, tough and tasteless. Told the staff member that we couldn’t eat it and he stared me blank. So we left the steak sandwich with only two bites out of it on the table.
Ordered something else and the guy completely ignored the uneaten steak sandwich on our table. Drops the new burger we ordered and took the steak sandwich. No consideration at all for the product we weren’t happy with. This is well below any standard expected anywhere.
Especially when it’s been covered.broadsheet you expect much better.
Cheers Aaron!
Wow. Just. WOW. The fact that this place is open 24/7, I’m surprised there isn’t a constant queue outside the doors all day and night! Don’t let their low key modest space fool you - they’ve got the goods churning out of their kitchens! We had a humble hamburger and dry aged rump steak close to midnight one evening and it was divine.
These guys don’t muck around. Good food, no frills and at all hours. Try the specials - in particular the steaks and skewers are always great?
Unassuming location but damn these guys make some great burgers.
A very focussed menu with daily specials, they just do the dishes they want really well. This is quintessential Melbourne without the pomp and circumstance. Highly recommended.
Yum! Always good here. Haven't had the same thing twice and everything has been delicious. Easy place to drop in, share a drop and a few dishes of tasty food
Meaty goodness available 24/7. I enjoyed the cheeseburger with bacon and also the sausage roll. Fantastic food. Cants bear to think about how many calories. Knowledgeable and friendly staff as well as a good beer list make it well worth a special trip or just drop in if you’re in the area. Oh and cash only is not really an issue when there is an ATM at the front door.
Burgers, meat and diner food THIS good, AND it's open 24 hrs a day. Come on man what else can you say other than f**k YES baby. I've been here a number of times now and the only thing I have to complain about is the fact that I have too small of a stomach to not be able to eat everything on the menu every time I visit. The daily menu specials always make it a treat to visit. PLUS the chef's random special (s) of the day are always a knockout punch. The thing I find the hardest with going here is fighting with myself between eating something amazing I've had before and trying something new. JUST GO!
Simple menu well executed flavours, and good rolling selection of specials. Usually quite quick even when busy. Waitstaff always friendly. Tonight we had a miscommunication about a dish and when it came out I wasn't able to eat it because of a weird very specific allergy; they promptly made it right and were lovely about it.
Finally tried out this Melbourne institution. It opens 24 hours but they are a Cash-Only business.
I had the Cheeseburger with House Bacon and it was superb. The bacon was in the American crispy style and the great thing was the Beef patty was cooked medium which is the best way to cook Burger patties.
My friend had the daily house special which was the Reuben Sandwich and he said it was good also with massive portions of pastrami.
