The mental health ward here is the best Ive ever been to. The nurses are all lovely and very well trained. Would recommend this hospital over any of the alternatives I've been to

I recently done my nursing placement at Brunswick Private Hospital, I had really good experience as all the nurses and other staff members are really supportive. I would like to say thank you to everyone.
I would like to say special thanks to my educator Nadya without her support I was not able to finish these placements. Her clear and concise instructions, coupled with approachability, made me feel comfortable seeking guidance whenever needed. The feedback process was constructive, specific, and motivated me to strive for excellence in my nursing practice. Thank you Nadya for being an exceptional educator.

There is absolutely no way to give the Brunswick Private Hospital team the thank you they deserve. Their genuine care and commitment, their generosity and support, and their positive attitudes have gotten my family through the last 7 weeks and have given my granddad a second chance at a ‘normal life’. Wow!
To all the staff - THANK YOU for every smile, for every positive reminder that better days are coming, for every gentle push to try something new. You were always ready to ease our concerns, understand our family dynamics and make the entire experience much less stressful.
A special shout out to the cafe staff too - your love and understanding doesn’t go unnoticed! You went the extra mile by remembering ALL of our coffee orders and we’ll forever be grateful for, and miss, our giggles and chats.
Granddad’s success and recovery is all thanks to the team at Brunswick Private - there’s no better place to be!

I wholeheartedly disagree with the negative reviews that have been added for Brunswick Private. My father was discharged today following 7 weeks of rehabilitation and as a family we have nothing but incredible things to say about the facility but more importantly, the staff. Thank you to the nursing team (students included), doctors, allied health professionals (physio, OT, speech pathology, dieticians), kitchen and cleaning staff and administration; everybody worked tirelessly to achieve the best results for our husband/dad/grand-dad and we couldn’t be more appreciative for the improvements he made whilst an inpatient. On admission, my dad was immobile, unable to perform activities of daily living without significant assistance and had constant recurrent infections due to aspirating on his food, all side effects of the stroke he sustained. It took 7 weeks, but we welcomed dad back home today having regained his strength and independence; he is now walking freely, caring for himself unassisted, can eat again and is safe to go about his normal life as much as possible. Thank you SO very much to the nurses who were always kind, patient and attentive, the geriatricians who worked tirelessly to manage all his acute medical needs, the physios for their perseverance and optimism for recovery, the speech pathologists for their caution, care and guidance as we navigated a new normal for oral intake, the OT team who assisted us with getting dad home independently and safely, the dieticians who worked hard to come up with feeding solutions and every other individual who always walked through dads room with a huge smile and kindness, it has been so very much appreciated.
Plus; thank you SO much to the café (Acopio) staff for being our saving grace with coffee and food; the kindest, friendliest staff who helped us all stay sane and especially helped my mum as she dealt with the stressors of dad being in rehab.
Thank you Brunswick Private; you have been a privilege to work with.

If you get a refferal for rehabilitation here through royal Melbourne hospital. Kindly decline. Staff aren't very accommodating. Standards are below par. Disappointing experience.

I had an excellent experience at BPH. The nurses were caring and knowledgeable and the standard of care was very high. Service provision was patient centred and personalised. I highly recommend the hospital.

I am very pleased with the care I have received here. The staff are nurturing and thoroughly trained in their field. If I needed to, I would definitely come here again. Thank you

Adequate hospital - groups were helpful, nurses were nice for the most part, more individual therapy could’ve been beneficial. Reliance on PRN Medication for assistance, amenities were good.

Apart from a couple of challenges with food, I found the staff very approachable and supportive. I appreciated the effort they made to help me during a stressful time.

Disgraceful service by a lady that opened the main glass door around 14: 45PM on 28th September 2021. She had a big attitude and wouldn't even let the food to be left at reception desk per the customer's note.

I have had two inpatient admissions with Brunswick Private Hospital to date and my experience has been nothing short of impeccable. The doctors nursing staff and psychologists have always gone out of their way to help me in times of need and have been caring, kind and compassionate when doing so.
The facilities in the ward I stayed in are always clean and are cleaned daily, bright and airy. Whilst being in hospital during the COVID lockdown was difficult, the hospital was always accommodating, letting family drop off items to me and always allowing me have window visits.
I have always felt comfortable here and would come back if I needed to!

This is my first admission at Brunswick Private Hospital and the experience has been a journey of ups and downs.

The nursing staff have been available at any time when I needed to talk. They are compassionate and understanding, displaying empathy at all times. In regards to my illness and using easy to understand terminology, the psychiatrist has been great in explaining what has been happening to me, which has helped me immensely. The ward I stayed in was clean, with bright private rooms. Although visitors were not allowed during COVID lockdown, they have been able to drop off care packages.

I have two criticisms. The first is there needs to be more availability of psychologists for one on one therapy and an offering of strategies to help patients deal with AOD addictions.

The second criticism is the food is not of a standard that I would expect from a private hospital. Meal orders are constantly delivered incorrectly to what I ordered. Most times I would order online food deliveries.

If needed, I would gladly return to Brunswick Private hospital.

Was a patient here for 5 days. My dinner was forgotten 3x and lunch 2x. My requests to see a doctor were ignored for 3 days and a care plan wasn't offered. Disorganised staff, inconsistent advice and poor quality care. Avoid at all costs. Private health insurance is not worth it if you end up here

Avoid if at all possible. There are a few good staff, but as a whole the facility is appalling. No follow up, no feedback, no one calls you back if you are family. Patients left for hours, not showered, not fed properly, not changed, no empathy, I could go on and on. I would minus stars if I could. All promises, no delivery.

I BEG you NOT to send a loved one to this facility!
From Staff not greeting my father, no follow up calls, no health and safety, not feeding him when required, not wiping his face, not answering phones, not communicating with family or each other, not putting bed alarm on to having a fall from a recliner with an alarm on it when he was NOT mobile which finally got him removed during lockdown in June! Sadly Dad Passed away 10 Days later and NOT at BPH. I have followed up with a complaint and will be taking it further, I don’t want anyone else to go through what we went through, the experience is still haunting me over 2 months later! HOW ironic, the CEO/Manager resigned during this period and the response came from the poor person that has filled the position

Terrible service! Everyone tells you something different. You get assured you'll get a call back and never do. A staff member by the name of Trish (who I am assuming is a nurse) who works in the mental health ward is a disgrace. She should be fired. Was rude, apathetic, disrespectful and it's frankly frightening that they've hired staff like that to work in a mental health ward. DO NOT entrust your health with these people!
