Brunswick Northside Boulders

It's kinda gross that they let people climb the walls in street shoes, transferring all that muck from the street/bathroom, to the holds, to my hands.

It's a really small gym and It's always way too crowded unless you come at odd hours.

No showers, tiny change room and 1 bathroom. But it has a weights gym so that's neat.

The boulders are fun, but the place was just waaaay too packed when I went there for me to have fun. Contributing to this issue is the decision by the route-setters that many of the boulders should have sweeping lateral paths crossing each other, reducing the number of people that can be climbing simultaneously. Would definitely recommend, of you can get there at off-peak times.

Good gym great staff ok coffee and great fun. Good range of skill difficulty from your first time bouldering to V10s and up.

Fantastic open, air-filled space for climbing/training/and relaxing with a coffee. Brunswick is probably my favourite of the three Northside Boulders/Lactic locations as they've got the best combination of climbing space and training facilities however all of them are worth 5-stars in their own right. Northside Boulders have got me absolutely HOOKED on bouldering!

Not a Melbourne local but every time I'm down I hit this gym up. Great atmosphere and fun climbs.

Moderate sized gym in a great area surrounded by train stations and cafes. The climbs are constantly changing and of a variety of skill levels perfect for the complete beginner to the very advanced. A whole range of challenges including overhangs, different grip styles, and there is also a training area. Can usually find a good deal (try looking on Groupon) but also in-house deals and everyday prices are very reasonable. Great for getting information on transitioning to outdoors as well.

Great activity to try, but a very unorganised gym. Climbs don’t make sense according to their set grading system. Some yellows very difficult and some whites very easy. Not a good spot for beginners. Old grips and very slippery even when you hire shoes. Change room very small and uncomfortable.

Helpful and friendly staff and great chill out area. The coffee and cake is delicious! The climbing routes get changed regularly to keep you interested

Small but has some good problems. My only gripe is that the holds are worn and chalky. However, staff are super friendly and welcoming and I really enjoy coming here:)

Great bouldering gym! Nice range of problem for all abilities, with vertical walls, overhang, slab and traverse. Friendly and welcoming staff and first rate coffee. Would recommend!

Definite must go! Great location, sizable work out space, friendly staff and good prices including walk ins.

Got a Groupon voucher, the process was straight forward. Do the first time sign up registration and within 10 minutes I was ready to climb with the hire gear. Good facilities and not far from Sydney road or train station.

Lots of routes of varying skill levels, friendly atmosphere, super helpful and fun staff, overall a great experience. I was visiting from California and dropped in on my first day in Melbourne and felt totally welcome and had a good session. Friendly climbing scene as well. I also liked the tunes. Good stuff all around!

The only one which is selling shoes.
None of the "Northside Boulders" gyms have showers.
But the variaty of problems are quite good.

Great spot to spend a few hours. Friendly staff, happy to help get you started. No climbing experience needed. Many premarked climbs from beginner to huge v ratings.

Decent range of problems, grades and decent setting of problems. They also have a Moon board which is great for training!

Great bouldering gym with nice staff and a fun, relaxed crowd. Keeps me coming back again and again.

Have only been here once but was pretty happy with the service and layout. It was so busy on a Friday night that I often had to wait for a go, but there's not much they can do about that!

Great boulder gym. Wide variety of terrain, holds and styles. All skill and experience levels catered for really well. Good social scene too. It has a slab, roof, vertical walls as well as overhanging steepness. Good use of volumes to update the terrain.
