Brim CC reviews
48I couldn't rate this place high enough, the chicken curry from here is worth traveling 50+ minutes to eat at.
The best vegetarian Japanese curry ever! It's also one of the cheapest. Fantastic quality food at a low price. Also the staff are super friendly and authentic. 11/10 would recommend!
This little Japanese cafe definitely is a germ in small laneway at the heart of city. Their chicken curry is just fantastic and full of flavor, they also serve on mixed grain rice, which make it super special. The matcha pancake is very good. Honey, fresh strawberries, etc. The bento is very pretty. They are kind to change beef meatball to egg. All staff are Japanese. Very friendly. Very tiny Japanese cafe. Only have few tables. Book if you need big group of people. They also have outside seats. Very convenient with public transport. Walking distance to train station. Plenty of car parking are nearby too.
I don’t leave review but this place is amazing, the Tofu Avo Salad was so fresh and delicious and the Tofu Curry don was the best I have had in Melbourne.
I come here regularly. I think they changed owners within the last couple of years, but their food is still fantastic and nothing has changed. The new owner is equally as lovely.
Generous portions, affordable pricing, and very hearty food.
I used to go here often some years ago and thought they closed permanently. Wonderful food here! The price range and taste is good and the prices are just right.
I used to get the half curry set meals, I loved it and the size of the half set was good for me. The staff have always been helpful and timely when I visited.
I thought you closed but upon searching up I see Brim CC is open again! Usually stores that are advertised as 'organic' have a really really big difference price and make you think you're eating really 'fancy' food when it shouldn't be.
It reminds me of eating at a simple little shop in Japan. Simple, tasty food.
Their curry is so tasty! You can get a combo for a few extra dollars. It's organic, fresh and so tasty! Organic does not have to mean expensive! This is my go to lunch spot.
Food is delicious, great quality and very well priced.easily one of the best places for lunch in the city
The dish I had (Gyu Don) was extremely salty. And the rice was over cooked, quite soggy. I actually couldn't finish it. As there was no readily available tap water, I couldn't balance it out. Tried to ask the guy at the counter, but he kept running out the back and once there, you can't get a hold of him. Unless if you want to yell out the back very loudly. I saw two customers come and go because they couldn't get a hold of him.
I left the food half eaten and stopped by Woolworths to grab a snack.
Maybe I didn't get the right dish. Maybe it was bad timing (3.00pm late lunch). But I don't have any qualms not coming back.
A very authentic delicious japanese comfort food. The curry is amazing and been here again and again cause it's such a delicious meal!
Nice home made Japanese Tokyo style curry set available here, tastes really good. Not many seats to get a table on a busy day, takeaway recommended
Organic cafe and every single item on the menu is cooked in non-organic "vegetable" oil. Deeply unhealthy, and false-advertising.
Edit: after trying the food today, I asked if owners changed, it has. It's quite clear. It's still good and inexpensive but no longer amazing. Changing my star from 5 to 4.
I've enjoyed food here are since its opening. Great food, have enjoyed the whole menu. Best Japanese comfort food in Melbourne, and on a budget too. I really can't recommend this place enough. Small casual restaurant good for lone meals or to share with another.
In a Word: HEARTY!
An extremely affordable Organic Soups & Curry Haven towards Southern Cross Station in the City. Honestly at this end of town, there are many amazing eateries and restaurants. The food here is my absolute FAVOURITE! Even better than all the fancy places around. This place is a modest Japanese Hole in the Wall type of vibe with a cosy amount of seating. If your going for lunch, be prepared to line up - or go earlier - that's my trick haha. And they're open for dinner. The portions are just right to generous. The food leaves you nourished, feels like a home cooked meal - very warming and hearty. Love the kindness of all the staff, super lovely Japanese Vibes. This is my favourite place at this end of town, we often travel from the suburbs just to come have dinner here at the ever modest, ever lovely, BrimCC. They've let the food do all the talking - do yourself a favour. Enjoy.
Really good lunch place for office workers. Feels like nice, homely food that’s a welcome change to typical Japanese you get.
This place is amazing. I’ve been living overseas for years now and I still often think of this curry joint. Best work lunch place in the area and it’s super cheap too
I tried ramen today - the noodles were basically overcooked instant noodles, the soup is very bland, so was the meat. I had to top on lots ofseasoning but it didn't really go well with the whole thing.
Excellent organic and tasty Japanese food
Great service
Very reasonable prices
I love Brim CC for their interesting, wholesome menu and reasonable prices. On past visits, I've had the veg curry over whole grain rice and tried some of my friend's soba salad. Both feature classic flavour profiles and quality ingredients and were above average in taste.
Most recently, I strayed away from my normal order and got the salad combo with bread. I chose potato and tofu as they were the two best sounding vegetarian options, and they ended up pairing wonderfully. The potato salad was a massive serve, made with mayo and mustard and topped with a hard boiled egg. It was extremely filling to the point where I felt a bit sick after eating it, but at least it a sticks to your ribs. Meanwhile, the tofu salad was very nice and fresh and light and served with a soy dressing. The best way to eat this dish is to take the sourdough, spread potato salad onto it and top with salad leaves.
Heads up: If you're visiting during lunchtime, keep in mind that you may have to wait for a seat.
Brim CC is cute and cosy, with affordable, flavoursome Japanese food and charming service, making it an excellent workday lunch option. The only thing I'd like to see more of are options for vegetarian meals.
