Thank you for such a lovely meal! The food was amazing. The service was exceptional. The interior of Brae Restaurant was elegant and classy. The whole place was very clean and well-maintained. The staff were very kind and accommodating. I eat here and enjoying a lot feeling awesome.

Yeah. Nah. Expectations were set based on reviews & ratings + price point. 2 stars for service and the general setting, but overall we were really let down with sub par dishes lacking creativity and flavour that left us yawning and just wanting to leave three quarters through.yea, this place really was super average.

Brae was an exceptional dining experience. The service was impeccable, the staff were informative, the restaurant had a great vibe and the food was divine. Having the matching wines was like sitting down to an internatiinal food & wine tour. Do yourself a favour and book in for a once in a lifetime experience I guarantee you'll be pleasantly surprised

There's not much Shaanxi food in Melbourne but as we welcome in the Year of the Rat – indicative of innovation and fresh beginnings – I thought it a marvellous time to open mind and mouth to a cuisine many of us don't know much about.

Fantastic meal, great setting, attentive staff. Would recommend highly. Better for a lunch than a dinner I think.

This is the single best restaurant I have ever been to, anywhere in the world. Sublime food, excellent people, and beautiful setting. Enough said.

4.5 a wonderful experience not quite the theater and ambience of Vue de Monde but worth trying.

I love most of the dishes especially the pork jowl barbecued with smoked eel and the hapuka and brassicas with crustacean butter. But the desserts were very disappointing. The hot and cold choco lemon taste like store bought and the pastry is chewy and hard to eat. The desserts really brought down the restaurant standard. Other than that the food was exceptional.

Well worth the drive. This restaurant absolutely deserves its 3 hat status. Take your time to explore the farm outsiden where they grow some of the food being served.

Had a special occasion dinner here and I loved it!
A wonderful venue and setting, perfect for an extra special weekend away.
Food was delicious and interesting. Extreme fine dining without the pretentious feel.
Great vegetarian food. Normally a restaurant of this price point would be a ‘once off’ but I am already planning my return. Thanks to the chefs and staff.
My one request is that they install a Tesla charger onsite- it would fit the sustainable vibes!

Food was quite average and rather bland. So many disparate tastes.
Two or three superb dishes - but mostly average. And oyster ice cream should be left off the menu.
Service great. Wine list superb. Location superb.

Amazing food and service. Although a bit far for me but definitely well worth it. Really one of the best restaurants I have had in Australia for a long time, could possibly be better than Quay. I don’t know u will have to find out yourself.

Brae is one of the best dining and hospitality experiences you can have in Australia right now. Food is sublime and unusually for a degustation it hits nearly 100% of the time. Deserts are on the less sweet side which for my tastes is a great change from the overly sweet chocolate heavy offerings at other similar places. The floor staff are engaged and clearly love where they work and keen to share but also learn. Accomodation is thoughtful and the post lunch supper is probably the best fine dining bargain available. Go have lunch, have a walk around the gardens, make some mini bar cocktails while spinning some records before supper. All the makings of a perfect day.

Brae was the biggest, most arrogant, waste of money and time we've ever experienced. I gave it 2 as the wine match and sommelier were appropriate and knowledgeable.
We went in autumn for my birthday, at my (regretful) request. We stayed in town which was terrific and the driver service great, but don't bother going to Brae unless you can preview the menu, here's why. So we went in autumn, addressed that we eat most things, requested the wine match. The first 5 courses were varieties of seafood, which might appeal to some but it doesn't to us. The only protein other than seafood was duck which was overcooked for my liking. There was next to no carbs to fill us up (or soak up the wines), and the textures were almost non-existent. Prawn heads that you had to gnaw at was one of the textures, the other was a squished croissant. It was exhausting having seafood after seafood that were all the texture of avocado with the exception of the two above. After course 4 my partner asked for no more seafood or non-textures, their alternative.avocado!? With no texture. And parsnip icecream did not rate highly either.
The chef's hat reasoning is lost on us, we have until now chosen all our special events based on the chef's hat, but now we will be looking at other reviews too.
Regarding the wine it was most disappointing also that our starter bubbles (a custom for us) was added on even though we had the same bubbles with the wine match, surely they could've mentioned this.
Had we driven ourselves we would've walked out earlier, as it was we walked out 3 hours later, hungry and a bit wine-affected as there was not enough carbs to soak any of the wine, and almost a grand poorer.

The dining experience at Brae was first class, from the warm welcome by the head waiter personally opening the door for us, to the impeccable service throughout the meal, the cosy yet open layout of the restaurant, the beautiful surrounds of the restaurant grounds, and of course, the brilliant food.

We had a sunday degustation lunch in a group of six, and immediately put the service to the test with each person having different dietary requirements. These were flawlessly accounted for by the staff, and dishes were customised beautifully to cater for the various changes needed.

All the wait staff had impressive knowledge not just of the dishes, but also various other asides to do with the restaurant, the food, even the utensils. Highly commended on their dedication and professionalism.

The food was brilliant in both presentation, execution, and in its simplicity, bringing the focus squarely on the incredible quality of the produce. We certainly went in with high expectations and were quite happy to say they were met and exceeded. Matched non-alcoholic drinks were a bit exotic and unusual, but ultimately enjoyable, a rather unique selling point.

It's a long drive, but definitely worth it, although finding nearby accommodation is highly recommended, especially if you intend to have a few drinks.

The Good:
> Service from Tim & the team was outstanding
> Location. Just stunning!
> Presentation of the meals. Impeccable.
> Brae style cocktails. MUST HAVE
> The food, Amazing. The pork Jowl and Crossiant. Easily a standout along with the Dutch potatoes and all of the desserts!

The Bad:
> Nothing bad - a few small improvements could have been made on the day, but I highly doubt these things would be “standard” for such an incredible restaurant:
Duck was over, tough and chewy. I was surprised that the chef was happy to serve. However the flavours and composition of that main was incredible.
I am not fond of very salty & “seafoody” flavours, we happened to have a lot of this on our menu so my palate wasn’t super satisfied. But I can appreciate many many other people would enjoy the richness in such dishes

Otherwise an amazing experience ️ thanks team!

The service was absolutely amazing, I once thought of not going now I totally change my mind. Now every time I go to Melbourne I go to The Brae Restaurant every day. Also, subscribe to The Brae - Ray for amazing content.

Firmly one of best kitchens in Australia, one that is so attuned to the season, produce, and diner. A meal here is subtle and contemplative, without ever missing the mark of what food should be - nourishing!

Dan and the team has created a landmark in world of dining out here in country Victoria. There's a sense that such isolation has bred a kind of focus that few restaurants in the country has. Our last meal here was incredible, with dishes that grew with the restaurant over the years, distilled into utter perfection! The prawn head dish comes to mind - oh the layers and texture. It's really a dish that could only have come to be with great thought and iteration.

Brae's distance is really my only complaint, but it makes each meal here really special. Stay at their lodging if you can, take in the slow life and appreciate the best that Brae can offer.

It was such an awful experience. None of the meals are served impressed me, the best of the meal amongst all was potato cake (so you can imagine how awful it was). If you have spare dollars and don’t know where to spend just go there and pay $500 for potato cake, oh sorry I forgot to mention they give you matching wine (to wash the taste down)
