Troy Shine has most likely saved me several hundreds of thousands of dollars and endless sleepless nights.

He conducted a building and pest inspection when I was in the process of putting forward an offer to purchase a solid double brick wall 1975 property. The building looked fine when I viewed it, just a bit run down, so I did not think the inspection would add more than peace of mind.

When Troy realised during the inspection that the task was more complicated than thought, he powered on and provided a comprehensive report that by far exceeded his schedule and my expectations. Most importantly to me, he took the time on the phone afterwards to summarise particular areas of concern, including the need for an engineer assessing the property and two issues mandating timely action to remedy safety hazards.

Based on the report, it became clear that the asking price for the property did not consider the need for major tasks to restore safety and liveability in the long run, and significantly altered my decision making process.

I can't thank Troy enough. As 2 female first-time buyers and no experience at all we were sitting ducks for buying a disaster house. Troy steered us away from one house due to serious issues with storm water drainage, high termite risk, water damage history sneakily covered up and unsafe decking/veranda thereby saving us being lumbered with a money pit we could not afford to fix. When he inspected the property we subsequently purchased we knew exactly what we were buying and had complete peace of mind. Troy was professional, thorough and clear in all his communications and a real down to earth bloke. He tells you exactly what he finds without sugar coating it and we trusted him implicitly. The report was always quick to arrive with pictures of all issues and he was happy to chat on the phone and run through anything we didn't understand. Some friends suggested we 'save money' and not worry about getting pre purchase inspections on houses we were serious about, I disagree 100%. If you are on the fence about getting this type of due diligence done just compare the cost of an inspection to the disastrous cost of buying a home that is a total lemon. This is the biggest purchase we make in our lives, so I absolutely recommend Troy and BPI to everyone and anyone.
