Bowl Bowl Dumpling reviews
43 Food was good but overpriced.
They’re serving a low-alcohol (1.9%) version of Lychee Gold Cider (normally 8%) and charging the same price for it without mentioning it on their menu.
I mentioned this when paying and they were like “oh” and still charged full price.
New favourite restaurant! Visited last night with a friend and on Saturday in a group of six! Service was so kind and accomodating, incredibly delectable fusion flavours, vegetarian variety and lovely ambience. The eggplant dish is a must, will be back!
Love the restaurant ambiance and food here! Lush plant of decor and stunned courtyard with refreshing space (next time Imma bring groups to here). The brisket beef noodles I’ve ordered is amazing, specifically spices can smell it from the soup and the briskets (spot light in my heart) is softer, tender and wasn’t need to chewy too much (it’s mean the briskets are positive like melted on your tongue) I believe they’ve been spending well time for make its delicious! Definitely will back again! Btw, try theirs handmade chili oil if you like have a hit. No disappoint!

Everything was yum yum yum. Good vibes out the back and very warm for a cold night. The staff were super friendly. It was a vibe. 10/10.
Fantastic food and service. Very dog friendly, can have them out the front or in the back. Great selection of Asian beers. Reasonable prices. Good vegetarian options too.
Arguably one of Melbourne's greatest cuisine experiences. The whole ambience & customer experience is 2nd to none. This restaurant is poised for industry greatness & recognition for its uniqe tastes & comprehensive range of authentic dishes & perfectly selected beverages. Bowl Bowl gets 6 Stars based upon all my dining experiences at this awesome restaurant!
Have been here a few times now and absolutely love it! Food is very good and extremely satisfying.
I just have one request - please can you do something about the music? It's so nice to sit out back in the courtyard but the music is just way too loud.
I'm sure it would be nice - never got to try it. Got ignored at the counter and they prioritised a queue of customers that formed on the other side after me. Oh well.
A cute restaurant with a great undercover back area and delicious food. The staff are really lovely, and they cater to a range of dietaries. The gluten free dumplings were a particular highlight!
Amazing service and even better food.
Felt right at home here as it’s dog friendly! Go for any of the dumplings and you’ll be in a happy happy place.
We were told food would be ready in 15 minutes and it took 45 minutes. Staff was rude and gave us attitude that it would take longer for gluten free but they didn't tell us that when we ordered. Would not recommend going here.
The food was sensational!
The chef was so nice and agreed to cook me the old fashioned Cumin Beef which is now no longer on the menu just for me today and it was so good! Missed it for a long time.
The Dry Dan Dan noodle plus some DIY sauces from the table was amazing as well!
First time diner today, won't be the last! Absolutely delicious! My advice is to go with as many people as you can so you eat family style and try as many different dishes as possible.
I will return to try more dishes, although for my first visit I was excited to eat here for the hot Sichuan flavours that I had been led to believe is Sichuanese food buuut.was let down by the lack of that spice. To be fair perhaps my expectation is based on limited experience, which is why I will return. The food was good quality, but I cannot expect a deeper spice heat that I was first expecting.
Great food! Love the Water Bomb and Wonton Volcano in particular. Best xiou long bao in Fitzroy! And no more minimum eftpos spend!
The Dan Dan noodles here were some of the best noodles Ive had in Melbourne. Not spicy, but a nice numbing sensation. The noodles were perfectly cooked with a nice bite whilst the meat sauce was super tasty. Just wish this was closer to my work!
It is a nice and cozy restaurant. Service was great. Vegetarian food was 6 out of 10. I ordered the vegetarian rice and it was literally rice with some beans and salad without dressing. Vegetarian noodles from Singapore were better. However, the rest of the food seems to be delicious. It was a shame that the vegetarian option was so poor.
We had a really nice lunch here. Dan Dan noodles and chicken corn soup. Very tasty. Cannot find a fault. Will definitely go back and try other dishes. The condiments are heavy on chilli and spicy. Counted 6 options. The noodles were just right, so didn’t need any extra. Service and ambiance both great.
I really miss visiting Bowl Bowl every week for lunch with my ex colleagues! Ever since I moved jobs, I haven’t had the chance to revisit I randomly found Bowl Bowl a few years without knowing the chef had previously trained at Silks. So glad I was able to go back with my girlfriend a few weeks ago! Everything was just as delicious as I remember it to be, but if you go, please do yourself a favour and order the wonton volcano in that warm and inviting soup and load of spring onion. We also tried a few new dishes such as the crispy egg plant chips and also double cooked pork which were both amazing and great for sharing. We then finished the night with some sesame and green tea mochi!
Honestly could not recommend Bowl Bowl enough if you’re in the Collingwood area and looking for a place for authentic Chinese food with family and friends!
Excellent food, and an absolute favourite for dumplings in this area. Do not order takeaway from here though- the servings are shockingly meagre for the price range, and the food really needs to be eaten fresh.
