Borchelli Ristorante reviews
81We were drawn in by the award-studded windows but left unsure of why these were received! I’ll start with the positives. We sat outside in the pergola which was a very cozy and nice atmosphere - reminded me of Lygon Street in Melbourne. It ended up bucketing down with rain but the Pergola kept us dry, however the ground started flooding very quickly. A few people had to move. The blankets included with the chairs were a nice touch, however I noticed as people came and went that they do not get changed between customers. The tables for two are far too small- OK for a coffee and cake but definitely too small for a meal and drinks. Our drinks came quickly and our entrée relatively quickly too. We got the antipasto platter and unfortunately it was rather disappointing. For $30 I don’t feel it was value for money. The meats weren’t anything special, just seemed a supermarket deli variety. The oil and maybe vinegar? Mixture that they provide for the bread was watery.just some pure olive oil would’ve been nicer. Now to our main meals.they took a long time considering it was not a busy time for the restaurant- mid afternoon and only a few diners left after the main lunch rush. We were hoping they would be worth the wait but unfortunately that was not the case. I had a fettuccine dish with chicken and avocado and my husband had the four cheese gnocchi. In the gnocchi it seemed there was no cheese at all! The sauce was runny like a soup and there was no stringyness to it to indicate cheesiness at all. Just like they had put cream and nothing else. The gnocchi itself was tender and nice. The fettuccine however it was extremely disappointing considering this is an Italian restaurant you would think they would use fresh egg pasta but it was clearly dried packet pasta. Overall won’t be returning sadly.
Minestrone soup had a burnt taste, bread was hard and the oil&balsamic mix wasn't enough. The rosemary potatoes are wonderful, though.
Fantastic fusion of clasic and modern Italian food. Wonderful professional staff providing great service. Enjoyable for the whole family. We will be back.
Food was fantastic! Service was very friendly, great spaghetti marinara! Kids also loved the pasta and they could choose any option. Finished off nicely with the Nutella doughnuts and coffee.
It was really good. I felt the seafood was really fresh. The fish was especially fresh. The food was very satisfying. The atmosphere was like Italy and I felt like I was traveling. I will visit again soon.
Food and service lovely. My only criticism is the small round tables too small and pushed up to close plastic blinds outside is irritating. Every time a car drives past the plastic blows against you.
After reading negative reviews I found the place to be good. Good service, good food, good prices. Bonus was having the choice of either entree or main size (entree size was plenty and left room for desert). Thankyou.
Loved it! We tried a platter of 3 pastas and it was really good, specially the penne calabrese! Very tasty and flavourful.
The local Shiraz was amazing and the Tiramisu was just perfect. We would definitely come back!
Beautiful Italian food and great service inspite of the crowd. Loved the place and will definitely visit again.
Went with a large group and was seated in a private room, but all on separate tables.
Food was ordinary and lacked flavour.
The risotto was like glue and stuck to the plate.
The Gnocchi with 4 cheeses tasted like the white sauce you make for lasagne.
The saltibucca was over cooked and dry.
We ordered bread with oil and vinegar for the table and it didn't arrive with the other entrees. When I asked the waiter if it was coming or not he interrupted me and said "I only have 2 hands" without letting me explain we asked for it as entree.
Location might be great but the pub a few shops down is better.
Perfect spot for a meal before going to an exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery. Very efficient service and excellent food!
Very disappointed.
The service was very slow, at one stage waiting 30mins for our drinks to come out.
The two person tables were way too small, as soon as a couple of entree dishes came out there was no room on the table for much else, making eating very awkward. The food was okay, but the pasta dishes I could of made better at home.
Friendly service, great italian food, we had pasta. Good location with outdoor sitting. Oposite art galery
PS do sign petition to keep out door sitting because council wants back the space for car parking
Ate there on 29/4/21 the service was really bad, waited for drinks for about 20 minutes and nearly an hour for garlic bread, our meal cameout the same time as the garlic bread after we complained that we didn't get the garlic bread. I wouldn't go there again.
We had the most beautiful meal. Best Italian we have had in a long time! Highly recommend this to any one visiting Bendigo,
This was a beautiful accident. I wanted to go and enjoy some chai latte at Cafe El Beso, but they were packing up. Saw the nice tent outside Borchelli and thought why not? And it turned out really nice.
A very nice and accommodating restaurant for singles. While waiting for their friendly and helpful staff arranging the table for me, I paid a visit to the ladies' and fell in love with their indoor decorations. Very warm and homy.
I had a hot chocolate, fish of the day and tiramisu. It was a very satisfying dining experience. The coffee and alcohol in tiramisu gave it a good hit. That was love at first bite.
It was a good wrap-up of my weekend in this lovely city.
Not great - $130 for 2 people - My Partners risotto dish resembled a watery gruel with no flavor - my spaghetti Bolognese was nearly cold - sauce was sparse, dry & acidic with no depth of flavor that a good hand made sauce should have. - shame as staff & wine and atmosphere were good.
The waiter welcoming us was not welcoming at all. Taking us to the table but putting the reserved sign at the same time was not nice- felt being rushed. But there was other table unoccupied without the sign. Apparently everyone wants to sit on the table we were seated.
Good food, but terrible service.three different wait staff, none of which were prepared to take an order for desserts and coffee.so left only to find we were being overcharged for a kids meal. Overall a VERY disappointing experience for something so highly recommended.
Very good service and food. The consensus was that the food was a very high standard. I've been to Italy many times and the seafood pasta I ordered was on par with others over there. Well done.
