Berties Butchers reviews
33 Came back here after moving out of the area since covid. The food and service is better than ever. This is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the Richmond business district.
Each day, they'll have a selection of BBQ meats (today it was brisket, jerk chicken, and pulled pork) and sides (today's was Mac n cheese with bacon, green salad and veggies).
I had the brisket, which was cooked to perfection (not dry like so many places) and a salad and mac n cheese.
The serves were big and the food was great (the photo doesn't do it justice).
To find Little Bertie’s, you need to walk around to the big car park between the station and Swan St (near church St).
I'm surprised that they're not busier here, but it's seems to be the case with the lunchtime crowds since covid. So many people are still working from home, especially in the tech industry (which makes up a big proportion of Richmond businesses).
Easily one of the best hidden gems in Richmond. Sneak around the back for a shady oasis, and tuck into lovingly prepared smoked meats, "house" vinos and the ever present and adored house salad or Mac n cheese.
We went to lunch here from the office. Excellent food, great service in a nice comfortable space.
We visited the cafe for lunch with team mates.
It was absolutely worth it.
They have a different menus everyday. The customer service is just superb.
Highly recommend this place for lunch
Best butcher in Richmond, has great burgers and does the best brisket out back in the secret restaurant. Will be back, thanks Rory
Nice little lunch spot tucked away at the back of the butchers. Menu is limited but each item is done to perfection. Had the jerk chicken with a side of bacon Mac and cheese - very impressed.
A hidden gem! The biggest question you will have when you arrive is.chicken or beef! Most days we do both, the sides are yummy and the non alcoholic drinks come in a great range. I visit weekly now I know where it is.
No hot lamb rolls available for several months now. I’m beginning to lose faith they will ever have hot lamb rolls again. Disappointing: (
Hell yeah!
I got some chuck steak for a stew, it had a great deep colour and it cooked like a dream.
We also picked up a couple arancini balls, heated them up for lunch today and they were delicious.
Our new favourite local butcher!
Consistently delicious and fast during every visit, this hidden gem is very worthwhile if you are a carnivore. Located at the back of the butcher, expect a small but different menu every day to change things up.
The beef sausages were highly popular and the succulent pulled pork burger was the essence of deliciousness. Beware of the onset of food coma after devouring such a generous meal over lunch.
The alfresco courtyard set-up keeps the atmosphere relaxed while ever helpful staff are quick and friendly. We've always left here sated and no doubt will be back for many more visits.
Placed a phone order for a fresh free range turkey, was assured they had one in stock. Upon pick-up was provided a frozen solid inghams turkey that was clearly not free range (amusing given this place markets as a proud free range butcher). When I raised the issues, and fact that being Thanksgiving it would be hard to find a replacement was told "I treat my customers well, no one else complains". I used to be a semi-regular customer - no longer.
Probably my favourite place in Melbourne. Every item is top quality with an interesting and diverse selection. The service is good old school hospitality.friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Quite a find!
I work in the area and Little Bertie's has been a staple of my lunches for 5+ years. I take any new team members here for welcome lunches. Bertie's have the best barbecued meats that are mouth-wateringly delicious, and the sides equally as tasty. The Little Bertie's team are so lovely and friendly, it feels like you're catching up with mates.
I started going because I was after grass-fed and finished beef. I keep going back because the quality is 10/10. Thanks Berties for feeding my family!
Today, I was introduced to Little Bertie's Café. What a fantastic day! I had the jerk chicken and the mac n cheese. Oh my.what an amazing experience. It's an unassuming little place but the food is so damn good. My wife literally thinks I'm a madman because I haven't stopped talking about it. I cannot wait to eat there again.
The quality of the meat at Berties is always A+ The Bass Coast scotch fillet I had tonight was amazing and better than anything I’ve had in a restaurant. 5 stars Berties!
Love Berties, fine perveyors of high quality meats and service, they are your body's best friend!
Rohan is the most knowledgeable and friendly butcher in Melbourne, he always has the best ideas for dinner and top quality product to back up his advice. The revolving selection of marinaded products at berties is a fantastic start when I'm feeling uninspired about what to cook. Their top shelf meats always impress when I feel like splashing out on something special.
Great butcher. Everything I've bought from there whether simple steaks/Sausage rolls to Low and Slow meats to smoke (Brisket/Roasts) has been very high quality and great price.
Staff are also friendly and helpful.
Can't compliment enough.
Bought a butterflied lamb shoulder and got some spot on advice for free!
Beautiful piece of salt bush lamb, butterflied nice and thick. Marinated overnight in lemon zest, rosemary, garlic, salt, pepper and a big ol' glug of olive oil. Got that oven on full blast for 20mins, put the lamb in on the middle rack and turned her down to 180c for 45mins. Rested for 15mins and I had a happy family. Perfectly pink and juicy as it gets. The lamb, not the family.
