Benjys Karaoke Bar

I've been coming to Benjys for a few years and this place is great! The front is always a big party for karaoke fans, while the beer garden at the back is cozy and comfortable. I came here for my thirtieth and the staff made it a great night for everyone. Highly recommended!

The absolute BEST karaoke bar I have been to! Such a safe space for all people. A group of us came on a night out whilst celebrating my partner's 30th there and the owner, Tim, made it such a special night without us even asking! He played a special birthday song, everyone sang my partner happy birthday and it was just such a nice end to the night.

Underrated fun on Lygon Street! Great beer garden, the Karaoke is exceptional and Tim and the crew are fantastic - highly recommend taking your friends here for a fun night out!

Went in for 3 drinks, and signed up to sing a song. The guy taking ownership of the bar obviously takes a lot of pride in his job. He waits out front to “vet” people for entry. Fair enough. So he was on break when I arrived, I had to wait out front of a clearly 25% full venue for 15 minutes for him to return to his duties. Sober. This is fine. A little unorganised and uninviting. But fine. I request a song on entry, then after my three drinks and being physically abused by one of the” importantly vetted” patrons (young person dancing and repeatedly slapping me and my friend in the face) we leave. I go to a bar across the road, still very keen to sing my requested song. The guy out front says it’s 40 mins away. I say thank you and set a timer. I return 35 mins later to him saying “to be honest, you haven’t been supporting the bar enough” the nerve, not Melbourne hospitality and quite rude and assumptious. Right. Thanks for creating such a “safe” environment. This is a phoney bar. I appreciate anyone who has had fun here. Because I’m sure with minimal interaction with him, it’s possible. But the man running it is obviously not interested in people enjoying themselves expressing on a mic. Rather finance.

Celebrated my 25th birthday here and couldn't have asked for a better night! Tim was so kind and accommodating to our large group of friends- thank you Tim! Drinks were delicious and good price, friendly staff, large selection of songs to sing with fun costumes and the outdoor beer garden was a vibe. Couldn't recommend this place more, ill definitely be back!

This is the best bar in Melbs. So much fun! Karaoke is a blast and the bartenders so kind. Great outside area as well. Love you Mr. Benjy!

Good local Karoake bar, across the road from the Piano Bar. Friendly owners and a nice little back patio.

Staff is extremely rude and on a power trip. Hated every second. Cannot believe how rude the staff was.

This is the best karaoke bar (or maybe just bar straight up) in Melbourne - such a lovely supportive space, constant bangers, and the owners are so so lovely! We always have the best time here, thanks guys for making it so fun and kind always

Tim is a legend and we had the loveliest time. The songs are bangers and the staff are adorable.

These guys know how party! Owners are super friendly hosts. They went out of their way to manage anti-social behaviours from another patron. I got a shot with sparklers for my birthday. Always a fantastic time here x

The greatest karaoke bar I've been to - definitely the best in Melbourne. Been a few times now and it's an awesome atmosphere, staff, crowds, and everyone really gets into it. If you haven't been here for karaoke, you haven't lived!

The below review by Louise Mitchell needs context: she was politely told the rules of the bar and she responded with profanities. She then got her boyfriend to threaten the owner. Disgusting behaviour and she was kicked out. This is a safe community space and the staff are always kind and welcoming.

Benjy's is the perfect community space that offers the comfort of a beer garden with games and seating, whilst also bringing a limelight of life to the Brunswick East area. Every moment there offers a chance of celebration, the time to be a 'Dancing Queen' and take a minute to just embrace the atmosphere.

No other venue has provided me with the same level of ease and accessibility as Benjy's - the staff are compassionate and thank every attendee as they leave and make the effort to make genuine connections. It's a space to be who you are, blossoming, eccentric, kooky & charming. Thrilled to have had so many incredible memories there!

Great place, great vibes but actually play songs in order. Few people I was with with hanging around simply for their song and clearly got skipped. Was on screen as 3rd song, then deleted.

Don't hesitate to go to Benjy's. You'll have an amazing time. They go above and beyond. ️
