Bendigo Art Gallery reviews
55 Don't rate the 5 star often- if ever.
Most impressed, please put on your 'must' to do list whilst in Bendigo. Beautiful range of works at present.
Huge venue.
Thanks everyone that has anything to do with the gallery.
Had lunch at the Gallery View also. Great customer experience and food. Thanks Crystal and Connor.

Beautiful array of art from classics to contemporary, there's something to suit everyone's taste. Enjoyed my visit very much.
If you are looking for some great Australian art, you will find it here at the Bendigo Art Gallery.
This would have to be one of regional Victoria's best galleries!
We came here for the Australian Women's Weekly exhibition. While somewhat interesting, that exhibition was very much underwhelming. Just not enough content to satisfy.
However, the gallery remained worth the visit as the area housing traditional Australian art has recently been refurbished.
These rooms are absolutely stunning! The curators have done a very good job of presenting the art works in traditional gallery style.
So, while the Women's Weekly exhibition was not quite the 'blockbuster' I had hoped for, we will visit this gallery once again when next in Bendigo.
Here are some photos of the Australian Women's Weekly exhibition and the wonderful rooms of more traditional art at the gallery.
The gallery was a Lovely experience. Free, in a pretty central location near the heart of Bendigo, and they had a pretty diverse collection, especially considering it is a regional gallery and not a state or Commonwealth facility.
I saw it all in under an hour, though I rushed myself somewhat. You could comfortably see everything in around two hours.
We love this gallery, with some great exhibits. Good excuse and lovely location for a girls trip. The almond trees are spectacular sight to see and is a beautiful space, very fitting of an art gallery.
Marvellous. Not too much guilt making of whites but very reflective and powerful Aboriginal culture presented from a friendly and informative perspective.
Bendigo Art Gallery never disappoints me. Enjoyed Australiana Designing a Nation. Very interesting, beautiful pieces. Australian Women's Weekly exhibition was also on, which was extensive with very interesting reading.
We are always pleased with our irregular visits to this outstanding gallery.
However the current Whitely exhibition is just stunning. Mostly drawings, but with a range of other media, the scale is immersive and his talent just mind boggling. Liked the sections, for example drawings of animals.
Highly recommend visiting this great exhibition.
Let this review stand as a reminder of the day that Bendigo Art Gallery implemented a trial of community segregation. Ironically growing up in Bendigo, the gallery played an important part in educating me how to recognise segregation and the bad side of history when it happens. So i'll still leave 5 stars, in the hope that we return to being a progressive a society soon.
Interesting building. The Mary Quant collection on display was well attended and the compact nature of the halls meant a bit of elbowing ensured. The gift shop missed a trick or two. The cafe out back was packed yet the staff were courteous and efficient. Neither the coffee not the cake rated a postcard back to Mum.
REALLY disappointed that the Mary Quant exhibition closed 4 days before the wool fair.
Thousands of people who are passionate about textiles and fashion are about to descend on Bendigo, bringing their tourist dollars with them. I would have loved to visit the MQ exhibit with my daughter-in-law as part of our Bendigo experience. So disappointed. Timing guys!
Went to see the Mary Quant exhibit and was very pleased with all the displays of fashion, would’ve been nice to have dealt with some friendlier customer service though, not one but two of the elderly staff were just unnecessarily rude.
Really great gallery. Highly recommended. The main gallery is free, so just pop in and have a look.
Bendigo Art Gallery ia always making an effort and it's been quite an event with the Mary Quant exhibition and additionally the Edith Head exhibition was memorable. Overall Bendigo is a great tourist destination pub's wineries etc
Always a fantastic place to visit with a great Cafe. Fantastic paintings and a great place for traveling exhibition and plenty of parking with a car park just a short walk away
Great regional gallery. Their special exhibitions are worth going to if travelling from Melbourne or elsewhere. Another aspect is the variety of cafes and restaurants nearby. Local boutiques are in abundance. Parking is convenient next door and very reasonable. Looking forward to the next show, Bret Whitely.
Have seen a few exhibitions here all have been fantastic and well organized. The Gallery Cafe is a bonus as well great food and service
The Bendigo Art Gallery and its current exhibition on Mary Quant couture was excellent. From a male's perspective it was well worth the entry fee.
Went to visit the Mary Quant exhibition. I am not of that era but I remember watching old black and white TV shows with similar dresses. Seeing them in colour was definitely a thrill. A must for any fashionistas! The 60s and 70s fashion are definitely back!
Well spaced and extensive Mary Quaint exhibition. Very understanding and helpful staff when I was struggling with tired kids, made a difference to our visit.
