Banyan Tree Indian Restaurant reviews
56Chances upon the restaurant as we were in the area and looking for Indian cuisine to take away. There were already several people waiting for their orders. Took 40 minutes but it was worth. Very flavorful food and thoughtful service. Offered my husband a mango lassi when the wait got too long!
Ran into this place without a booking, and what a surprise. Accomodating staff, warm and calming ambience. Food was just too good, overate happily. Suggestions from the staff were good too. Great vegan options! Going there soon.
After a very long day looking for some good Indian comfort food, my partner and I stumbled upon Banyan Tree and what a find! We were greeted by Maulik who was welcoming and let us sit under a heater. Both of us ordered wines to start which were great quality and the food came out so fast! Very authentic and so tasty! Best Indian food we have found in Melbourne by far! Recommend bringing the family or for a date night as the whole restaurant is just wonderful! We will be back soon to enjoy more food and wine!
We were turned down by a different restaurant as we didn’t make a booking, and stumbled upon this gem. What a blessing in disguise. It is the best Indian restaurant my partner and I have ever been to in Australia so far, and we have been to a lot. When they asked us if we wanted our curry to be mild, medium, or spicy, we said spicy. Turns out they really did do it justice, unlike many other places that would serve you disappointingly watered down gravy. Keep up the great work, team!
Oh my goodness it’s been a long time since we’ve eaten authentic delicious Indian food! We are so happy to have found this incredible restaurant. Great friendly service too. Highly recommend it
What a wonderful dining experience. The food is so fantastic, including dishes I've not seen at other Indian restaurants. The ambience is warm and inviting and looks great inside, and the service is not only second to none but the staff are so friendly. We were even treated to something one of the owners wanted us to try, it's so clear they wanted us to have a great experience. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!
Hands down the most incredible Indian food, not just in Melbourne but any I've ever tried (and I've had a lot of Indian food around the world). Their food is absolutely delicious! Thank you again for filling out stomachs and our hearts BT!
Perfect experience. Everything was extremely delicious. Will come back again. So tasty, beautiful atmosphere!
We have had take away here several times and also have eaten in. Tonight's meal in house was absolutely delicious! Best butter chicken and Indian restaurant in Melbourne, the best thing on a freezing cold night. Its the perfect spice level and not too sweet like other places. All of our other meals were excellent also. Our waitress seemed like she was having a bit of a bad night but was still prompt and efficient and the owners/manager were so incredibly friendly. Will be back!
Easy ordering, even got advice on our order which turned out to be good advice. Located on a busy street we were able to park close by. Order ready on time and nicely glad wrapped to stop spillage. Loved our entrees and naan bread, mains were excellent.
Pros: absolutely gorgeous decor; only North Indian restaurant open ANZAC day in the inner west; taste
Cons: I was made to wait an extra 20 mins for my food as the waitress forgot to put the order thru, and instead of doing something meaningful (voucher to come back, free entré etc) the manager just threw the waitress under the bus and yelled at her in front of me. To be fair, the waitress was really incompetent and didn’t care at all about the wait or even acknowledge my existence. Once I got the food there was a hair in it - I’m blonde and as you can see in the pic, this is a black hair.
Can’t comment on the food quality/taste - it’s so hot that I’m burning my tongue as I type, but I ordered an hour and a half ago and am too deliriously hungry to wait for it to cool down to eat.
EDIT: by the end it was evident this food tastes really good. Given all the dodgy behaviour though, I’d probably only go back if I was desperate.
Best Indian food in all of Melbourne and the most amazing service. The food is so tasty, restaurant is clean and staff are so kind.
I ate one of the most tasty beryani, butter chicken and raita I ever had.
Highly recommended
The best Indian restaurant I've ever been to in Melbourne. AMAZING food and services. Definitely will visit them again.
Best Indian Restaurant in Melbourne. Amazing Food! My kids love the butter chicken. We love the spicy Angara Chicken.all food yummy
Excellent food and service. Music was not too loud as any other Indian Restaurant. Great Hospitality by the owners and good to know that they were from our home town "Mumbai".
Will defenitely visit soon.
Beautiful food, flavourful, fresh, melt in your mouth but not dry meat. Staff friendly and beautiful decor inside. Absolutely clean. Owner gave us a mango lassi while we waited. Could not recommend this restaurant more. Cannot wait to go back!
Easily the new best Indian restaurant in inner Melbourne. Authentic North Indian flavours, caters for mild chilli levels and great quality produce. You can taste the freshness and care in the cooking. Highly recommend the chaat entrees, any paneer dish and goat curry. Our new go to!
Delicious. My only suggestion is to put a little bit less oil in the Lamb vindaloo.
The butter chicken is really really great, with a complex and amazing flavour.
Went there last night and the food was delicious! This will be our new go to Indian restaurant. The dining room was really nice and service was great.
I went there for dinner today after the lockdown. The manager was very welcoming and so was the other staff. They maintained proper hygiene and the ambience was very good.
Food was excellent, especially the malai kofta.
Must visit!
