Banyan Tree Indian Restaurant reviews
56 Delicious food and a cosy ambience. Staff are attentive and polite.
Would definitely return!
Lovely staff, very considerate of my food allergies (nuts), freshly spiced curries that were delicious. I particularly liked the chickpea curry and the goat curry. Definitely will return!
Really nice place with interesting dishes, super flavourful and nice atmosphere and service. Highly recommend!
A beautiful restaurant with lovely air conditioning on a hot summers day! Very clean and bright aesthetic with greenery on the walls and exposed brick. Lovely staff that make you feel welcomed and accommodated to. The food always exceeds expectations even when you venture and try something new, and great vegetarian options.
Takeaway Indian which was tasty but oh so spicy. Butter chicken is meant to be mild and I requested super mild but still couldn’t feed it to my daughter which was disappointing.
Absolutely devine of a restaurant. In the heart of Moonee ponds is an amazing indian restaurant. Service was top notch, food came out quick and honestly the best indian food I've had. Partner and I had date night, he ordered butter chicken with cheesy garlic naan bread and I ordered the chicken tikka garden salad with a side of naan too.
The restaurant was very inviting with instrumental music and dim lights for that extra ambience. Also had the mango kulfi and Gulab jamun and wow.
Definitely recommend this to anyone wanting spice added to their diet with a side of culture.
Was looking forward to our meals based on the reviews. Food was a bit bland. Asked for medium spice and it was mild. Service was good.
Authentic and best Indian food in Melbourne by far. Service and atmosphere was top notch too. Surely will be dine-in more often.
I was visiting my family in Australia, and when the question came which is the best Indian restaurant here everyone here pointed towards Banyan tree. I was excited to try this. We ordered Mixed tandoori platter, 8 piece Sheik kabab (lamb), cheese naan, keema naan and chilli paneer naan. All had decent quantities and I will recommend the keema naan and sheik kebabs, it was so fresh that it made me feel it was prepared in house. The chilli paneer naan was spicy to the level Indians would love it. (after all this is a proper Indian restaurant.
The Bad experience I had here was when I ordered a Mutton Biriyani (this one let me down). This one came with an egg, Again when you think of the origin of Biriyanis not every Biriyani comes with a boil egg, I was impressed with the presentation.
Taste wise I would give a 1/5 rating and that 1 is for presentation.
The rice was dry with less masala, meat was overcooked (if you can think about a state double of well done) which made the whole dish dry. The Mutton was frozen and cooked (not fresh), It was overall dry and humid.
I spoke with the restaurant Manager about this and he gave us an extra portion of chicken Biriyani which I just finished, It was made perfectly with all the above faults corrected (I hope he will be able to do the same with his mutton).
Again the Moral is the 5 star rating I gave is for the Attitude of the staff and chef on trying to overcome their faults. NOT MANY CHEF I MET IN AUSTRALIA has that kind of attitude. Hats off.
Ambience was good. SUSHMA and KRIPA were very attentive, friendly and jolly all the time️. Food was great and authentic. Highly recommended folks?
Excellent food, great service and such a warm and welcoming place! Everything we ordered was just delicious. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant. Will definitely be back again soon.
Ordered Dum Biriyani on uber. Beautiful presentation for T/A order. Food was delicious. Highly recommended.
Incredibly tasty dishes. Great Entrees, and excellent main meals. Cozy place with friendly staff. If you look for Indian cuisine in Essendon, that is a great place.
It was our first time dining for birthday celebration at Banyan Tree restaurant. It has a warm and lovely ambience. We ordered Tikki chat, Tandoori Non veg platter, Kashmiri naan and Lamb dum biryani. The quantity was good and the flavours were great. The decor and the whole restaurant are absolutely awesome and very clean.
Staff service was good, very attentive and friendly. We had a great experience and wishing team Banyan Tree very very best and kudos to chef and his team too!
One of the best dining experience in Melbourne. Right from the starters (paneer tikka, chaat) to mains (chef special, dal makhani, Garlic Naan) and desserts (Gajar halwa & gulab jamun) everything was top notch and staff were very friendly and courteous. Will surely visit again!
Food and service was great. Really enjoyed it. Only minor point was we were overcharged for a naan bread which couldn’t be resolved.
Delicious…. They got authentic and luxurious taste in food.my top favourite… best in hospitality, quality of food and hygiene.recommend to all indian food lovers
Walking along Mt Alexander road I stumbled upon this restaurant I was greeted by smiling and welcoming staff.
Dal Makani is must try dish on the menu.
Highly recommend Banayan Tree!
Loved our experience at Banyan Tree. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.
The only downside was that the table for 4 are too small.
