Balkh Take Away

Tried mixed kebab 4 skewers (thought it will be combination of minced kebab, lamb kebab and chicken kebab) but it served 2 chicken kebab and 2 lamb kebab. You can tell them if you want 3 different kinds of kebab for your mixed kebab. My kebab skewers are served with Afghan bread and salad. It’s a good portion for one person. I prefer chicken kebab to lamb kebab. Some menu items have different charges between dine in and take away options.

I left my bag in the restaurant today and after 15 minutes when I came back to take it. I was treated very unprofessionally by the store manager. He constantly asked me to leave and said that he never saw me in the store and he didn’t have the bag without even trying to check with their staff!
Finally after asking multiple times for my bag one of the costumers was nice enough to support me and say that they exactly saw my bag being moved by one of the staff!
And it was only in this stage that they agreed to check and look for my bag and return it to me!
Very unprofessional manager. I usually dont leave negative reviews but this time I had to as I felt the responsibility for everyone to look for their belongings.

The flavors are authentic and mouthwatering, and the meat is always tender and perfectly grilled. The portions are generous, making it a great value for the price. The friendly staff and efficient service add to the overall wonderful experience. If you're craving delicious Afghan cuisine, this is the place to go!

Best food ever! For $21 you can have a big meal! Skewers rice salad and sauce (super tasty bread too). I love this place! Can be really busy if you intend to dine in!

They hid the eftpos screen and charge you extra, happened to me twice then find excuses like I gave you extra rice on the plate or grab some drink. I didn't want either, don't ruin your dinning here.

Love the food here. The chicken is so tender and cooked on charcoal. Rice is fragrant and tasty.

They don't know how to make charcoal chicken. Kebabs lack of salt. They give you more bread than you need actually, as part of the meal. This is a wastage.

Had the chicken kabab wrap was very spicy and found a piece of plastic in the chicken, service extremely slow had to wait 45 minutes for our meals

Absolutely amazing

They are fast in serving, very friendly and welcoming. The lamb is delicious and not chewy, chicken is delicious and juicy Absolutely not dry or over cooked. They are very generous with the amount of bread they serve. The two sauces they serve is a game changer.

Going this place for very long time, orders around $100-$120 we liked the taste and service, but from last couple of times not taking risk ordering more than 1 or 2 plates when the main person not available they skip or miss things to put in the bag.
We ordered extra rice charged $6 in full but at the end gave us just plain rice, when I asked about the carrots on top as kids like it they told me it’s finished. They why take orders and charge us in full? Saturday night 8PM
Also the container of rice got thinner compared to previous one.

I understand prices of meat and chicken goes higher so as to survive every restaurant increases their prices. But why reduce the quality or quality?
Either keep the same quantity and just charge us more or keep the same pricing and reduce the quantity.

Excellent Afghan kebab restaurant. Easily best in a Melbourne. Worth a drive across town. Also, very friendly and polite service.

Excellent kebabs. Perfectly cooked, seasoned and dished out. The bread and chutney was amazing as well. Must try for kebab lovers.

Waited with a friend for 30mins, when told at the serving desk, our food would be ready in 20mins, when the store was not that busy, Nd people after us got there food before us.
When I asked about a colouring on there shredded chicken nd rice tubs, they didn't reply back to me about what it was, found it rude.
First time at the store not really treated very well.
Like we waited longer, cos we were new nd there culture got served quicker than us.
I got a mixed wrap, meat nd chicken, with a yellow colouring through it.not sure of the flavouring nd what it was, by the end of my night nd friends night, we didn't feel well in the end.
My mate turned out to be more sick than me.
We've never seen chicken in that yellow state at all.
What ever it was, did not agree with us at all.
I'm sorry, we won't return back there again.

Best food ever been coming here for years recently moved away but tried it again yesterday and nothing compares to this place. Never once in 5+ years have I ever had a bad experience here

$20 for 3 kebabs skewers, rice, Afghan bread salad, yoghurt sauce. More than you can eat. Cooked over a charcoal fire so you have that smokey flavour. Best kebabs I have had in a long time. I especially liked the chicken kebabs, not overcooked so moist and tender.

Fantastic food. We have been coming to Balkh for years. The guys that work there are always friendly.

Great price for great food. The meat is so tender and their spicy sauce you find on the table is amazing!

Not going back, didn’t feel clean, they ignored what I asked for. Too many local options to be repeating that experience!
