Babaji's Kitchen South Indian Restaurant & Food Truck

I think the incredible reviews led us to have high hopes, but our experience was underwhelming. The samosa was drenched in oil, probably from being fried for the 5th time. They did not have dosai, the manager was genuinely apologetic about it, hence the 3 stars. The Mumbai Franky tasted like chapati stuffed with dosai stuffing. Having tasted amazing kerala Thalis, the veg thali seemed to have no flavour, maybe to accommodate for Aussie crowd. Or Maybe the main chef was on leave. I would love to visit another day for a better experience.

After a nice drive through the Dandenong ranges if you are in the mood for some nice Indian food you are in the right place. Spicy food, great service and nice ambience. Lots of parking nearby. You will it.

I love this restaurants food. It is always fresh and delicious! They are very welcoming and have helped keep people in the community afloat and fed during these hard times. Super impressive how they are travelling far and wide to drop off food at allotted pick up points. I have recommend them to many people.

We were lucky enough to get some beautiful food from this restaurant during lockdown. They delivered on the Saturday and we heated it up for dinner. The taste was amazing and we look forward to coming to your restaurant to order some more delicious food.thanks

As an extreme delivery regular I thought I'd switch it up and order something different. I don't like eggplant but ordered the pau bhaji - OMG! What a taste sensation and with a nice bit of heat. I've found a new favourite. There are so many things on the menu. Can't wait to get back to the dining room but more than happy with extreme delivery meantime. I love the community ethic of this place as well - you can donate funds with your order to help out a local food bank and they actively promote other local businesses despite going through some tough times themselves. Awesome food and awesome team! We come to Belgrave just to get our hit of good Kerala and South Indian cooking. The samosa chaat are the bomb, perfectly fresh crunchy aromatic fluffy decadence smothered in deliciousness. That’s just one of the must haves on the menu.

Can’t wait for the travel limit to increase so we can resume the pilgrimages) And kudos to the Babaji’s team for being so amazing both supporting the Hills community and being creative and soooo hard working keeping the business alive. Amazing and well worth supporting.

We got pretty much everything (couldn’t choose!). Met in the car park, there they were, on time and friendly and the food was magnificent! Such depth of flavor, can’t recommend highly enough. If you want authentic, good quality, value for money take away, this is it!

Amazing food! Everything we’ve had from Babajis has been made with such care, it’s so delicious and their friendly service is second to none. Have never had a bad experience and I recommend this place to everyone. We will always be coming back again and again!

Terrific food by a wonderful group of people. I haven't yet eaten in the restaurant (but will do so when possible), but have had the pleasure of getting takeaway several times. I was impressed by Babaji's efforts in helping out by serving free food in Kalorama after the big storm in June. I have also had food delivered to Olinda on 2 occasions and the food and service are both very good! My only criticism would be I would like to see more on the menu!

This is one of the finest Indian dine in restaurants in Melbourne, which is located in signature Burwood highway. Food is fresh and yummy!

Visiting here after 2 years, same taste delicious food we had pani puri and idli and dosa, everything was perfect.

Great South Indian food, super friendly staff, plenty of seating, and you can order from QR codes at the tables for convenience. Great experience all round

Food is just average for a South Indian quality. Thali is definitely not Kerala food as they call it, Frankie tasted pretty bad.

Decent service from the waitress.

The food was very tasty but the only thing is that the goat curry we ordered did not have any meat. It was purely curry, some very tiny shredded meat stands and one bone.

Food was good but the tables were sticky, we didn't get any knives because they would have to go and wash some for us. We accidentally got the wrong dish that we started to eat in error so they wanted us to pay for it then gave us attitude while we were paying. Waitress was nice but the manager was rude won't be back.

Did not have a good hospitality experience though food was good. And we left a bad review after the experience, however the whole India society was questioned and the irony of the fact is that we were served Indian food in an Indian restaurant. If you have still troubles in understanding your customers, then I'm sorry too.

Food was very nice, will let friends know, Restaurant looks good but the service could have been better, one girl to look after everybody. But I think it is the best Indian food I have had

Always good food but now we can eat it in a delightful dining hall. Good vibe, friendly service, amazing food. A place to return to regularly. Thanks to the staff for a great dining experience.

These guys are fantastic. Food is great, affordable for the whole family. One of our favourite Friday night feeds. Try the dosa’s they are super delicious. One of the best South Indian restaurants in Melbourne ;)
