Would rate it Triple A! Authentic, Affordable and just Awesome! Was worth driving to their Belgrave branch as we ordered the sumptious 'Sadya', a pure vegetarian Kerala delight and a Chicken Chetinand Dosa. Also their Malabar parotha (Sotheby's Indian bread) was light, flaky and a perfect add on with flavour packed curries. The ambiance & decor too are fascinating. Would surely recommend and will visit soon to try other dishes.

Came across this restaurant and decided to give it a go for a weekday lunch, best decision ever.
This place has a very peaceful homely vibes, the owners did their best to not go over the top with ambiance/décor and tried keeping it very minimalist so the customers can feel like home when dining here.
The food was amazing, the thali was value for money. The food brought back lot of memories.
The sambar & filter coffee were the best I ever had.
Service was very good – we were served by Michelle, and she deserves 5 stars.
Would definitely visit again.

Stepping into Babajis felt like stepping into my own home town in India.with beachy vibes and delicious dishes! My favourite dish had to be the idli's with kerala style fish. The curry was so beautifully spicy and coconutty. Overall, great experience!

Have been a customer of Babaji's for some years now. Love the restaurant at Belgrave, so vibrant and full of colour.
Food is beautiful, authentic and made with choice ingredients. The meat currys are incredibly tender and have the most amazing flavour. They have a large range of vegetarian dishes and they seem to have a special way of cooking tofu, as it is the only place I will eat it. Environmentally friendly take away containers and genuine customer service. Can't wait to see their new restaurant in Warburton take off.

One of the best traditional Kerala food available in Melbourne. The atmosphere is so chill, the people are so kind and welcoming. They even let dogs sit outside and provide free food for the fur babies.
Food quality was really good and could taste the authenticity of the food. Will be coming back again.

One of the rarest and best indian food: south indian. Try the Kerala porata, beef and chicken and great biryani

Mediocre service by fawning obsequious well-meaning male & 2 female staff.
Sandhyaw was professional & affable as most malus are! Fish curry did not have any Kerala bite & the fish fry was underdone & skin charred to imperfection. Most if not all customers were Kerala-types which bodes eel for the publicity but some of them like me were first-timers. And we may never return!

It was a pleasant surprise to find a Kerala restaurant in Belgrave. Easy parking. We shared the Pani Puri for entree and it was full of surprising flavours, really refreshing. My partnerr enoyed his dosa, the hot Madras one, and the sambhar was very good. The coconut chutney was not quite to our taste but there are so many versions of this. I had the banana leaf Sadya and there were 9 dishes to taste, each one offering a distinct and lovely flavour. So much rice I could not eat it all. The cost was $71 for 2 so not a cheap eat. We will be back. The staff were friendly and efficient.

We had the lamb and beef Thali which come with several vegetables. Delicious flavours. The meat was really tender and flavorsome. Small portions of each item. Went well with the malabar parotta. Very interesting decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful over all. However note that their quick eats menu prices don't seem to apply even though we were handed that menu. Unpleasant end to a lovely meal.

The food is very good and sitting ambience is nice, interesting decoration for South Indian street food. I suppose to give 5 stars but not fully pleasant experience with one staff who is a bit rude and in hot temper, didn’t give us clear information.

My wife and i went there on a mid week dinner treat and it was surprisingly near to full capacity.likely, all other reviews have already given full marks for the food.what i can tell you was that there was a table there of an extended indian family having a wonderful dining slice of kerala.it was all smiles and full bellies; mum, dad, kids, uncle, auntie, more kids.all smiles and no leftovers.with my wife and i, we had leftovers because we underestimated the size of the serves.of course, this meant more of babaji's goodness at home the following night!

Sadya and thali were very good and left my parents impressed. However beef curry was little let down (kerala parotta and beef curry)

Excellent from start to finish. The moment you walked through the door you're immediately transported to South India! Such a great ambience and it feels like we're on a mini holiday when it's only a short drive from home. Hospitality of the staff are amazing, very friendly, helpful and willing to explain whenever I ask questions. The whole menu also offers a lot of gluten free and vegan options. Definitely will come back and recommend the place to our friends. Thank you Babaji for the overall amazing experience!

Having been to Kerala (although some years ago), we were hoping for an authentic representation of Kerala's wonderful cuisine. We weren't disappointed. The curries, breads and accompanying dishes were delicious and brought back fond memories of dining in Kerala. Next visit, we'll sample the idli and sambar, one of our favourites. Highly recommended.

Nice vibe/ambience with really delicious food. The Malabar parotta with chicken chettinad was great. Fish fry was tasty too although with lots of bones. Fish curry in Thali was tasty but spicy! Filter coffee was great! India vibes.

The ambience here is just so lovely, bright and colourful decor which sets the tone for the deliciously authentic South Indian menu. We had an amazing spread, guided by the advice of the warm staff and the charming owner.
