24-31 dollars for breakfast? That was unfortunately the first thing that I saw when I sat down after a 15 minute wait on a Sunday morning. There are cheaper items but if you wish to taste their key items, it's in that range. They also charge additional 50c for an extra shot in the coffee plus 10% surcharge on Sundays.
The first coffee came cold after a very long wait and had to be sent back, the second one was only so-so and the almond milk chai was bleh as well. Food isnt bad, but the servings are small for the salads and pies.
And water was poured into glasses by the staff vs bottles? Not enough bottles? I am not sure.

Great place with good service. Middle eastern food was made well and it's different to your usually smashed avocado toast but very delicious. Prices are a little high though.

Real score 4.2.

Babajan has been on my radar for a while. As soon as I entered I started kicking myself I hadn’t been here already. It’s fabulous.

This struck me as the perfect cafe to visit if you’re in a hipster style brunch rut. Too many avo smashes, a few too many big brekkies anyone. This is the cure. The food here is genuinely unusual. It demands to be tried. I love modern middle eastern type food and they do it here very very well here. I wandered up to the counter and was immediately goggle eyed at the food available. I couldn’t wait to get at it. I ordered a lentil salad and a chicken salad with pumpkin, chicken peas etc. Both dishes were utterly delicious. The textures and flavours were outstanding. I savoured every single mouthful. You know that feeling of regret as you come to the last little bits of really good dishes. I had that here big time. I really didn’t want to finish these dishes. They were wonderful.

My coffee to finish was a beauty too. Dark, deep, inky and rich. Melbourne in a cup. I had one last 1% observation. They have an awesome sound system here. They had a fantastic playlist on. I’m serious. It is a terrifically rich sound they offer here. Best I’ve ever heard in a cafe of this size. I love music. A good sound system matters.

It’s a great cafe. It’s a must visit.

Rude staff, cold and unwelcoming store. Very overpriced food. Not sure how you can justify selling a small container of salad for $18, it was just a mixture of different carbohydrates drowning in oil.

I came here with my dear friends Osker and Seb. The food was top notch, a real slam dunk. I dug the vibe. A little on the pricey side and Seb couldn't afford his food so I had to buy it for him but I won't deduct points from Babajan for that.

Fantastic Turkish inspired breakfast, it's very original food with good coffee and drinks. Would be one of my fav cafes north-side because of the deviation away from the standard poached eggs brunch spot.

Got asked if they could get me some sparkling water as well after I ordered food. Not coffee, not tea, not regular water, not some other complimentary dish. Made me think it's one of those places that get you sparkling water for free. Later they've charged me $6.5 bucks for a bottle of sparkling water and they had already taken away the lid with the plates so I wasn't able to take bottle with me as well. When I mentioned this to the staff, I was questioned how was the question asked, who asked it, when was it asked, who took the lid and so on and no one apologised for the misunderstanding or offered a refund. So, nice upsell on your staff, but will not be coming back, since it's practically just a scam.

Really great brunch food with excellent flavours. I particularly enjoy their daily salad offerings. Great coffee and drinks selection, would happily go back again

Total ripoff. Was charged an extra $13: 50 for a small side salad to have with my meal. When l questioned the amount all l got was attitude. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS UNDESERVING BUSINESS.

The veggie pie was really delicious. However I find the breakfast to be overpriced. Also, noticed flies everywhere and several sitting on the takeaway food which threw me off. The restaurant was very busy when we arrived but we were seated right away which was very nice and despite the business we were served right away and the food came quickly. Not bad overall.

Their fig apple and almond pie just melts in the mouth. I had a mocha from the cafe and it was just brilliant. The staff is very polite as well. Wonderful experience.

Extremely disappointing!
Coffee was tasteless and tepid.
Service was slow
The waitress stuffed up our order and we had to wait another 30min for my partners meal to come out.
When the food arrived it tasted good.
Not worth the wait and very over priced.

Great staff! Very attentive and friendly. Coffee from codeblack and quiet enjoyable. However, food didn’t match up to the hype. We ordered the lahmajun and the aleppo fried egg. Flavours were overpowering that prevented us from enjoying both dishes. The short crust pastry texture in the lahmajun resembled the taste of a pie. I understand the creativity behind the dish yet the failure to create a perfect dough was a let down for me. The aleppo eggs were overcooked and there was just too many strong flavours that didn’t match. The innovative motivation behind this establishment is inspiring yet it is also important to respect the natural flavours of ingredients. I also felt that babajan was a little overpriced for what they are serving.

Absolutely delicious, we shared the 12-hour slow roasted lamb, pickled octopus, and daily side salad, all were 10/10

Food was okay, however it took around 45 minutes for food to hit the table. If you're going to add a 10% surcharge on weekends you may want to staff adequately.

Staff were enthusiastic and friendly. But the day we went the food was oversalted and seasoning was uneven

Good food but the waiter serving us forgot to bring cutlery and proceeded to wilfully ignored us. Eventually we got our own. It was a shame to see the good food be let down by a grouchy millennial waiter having a bad hair day

Made a reservation for a table for Father”s day lunch. We arrived on time but after waiting outside in the cold for half an hour with two young children were told “Half of your table is ready” and that they could seat us but our children would have to sit at a separate table. Never have experienced such a ridiculous suggestion - especially after making a booking. We gave up and went and ate at the pub across the road. They barely apologised - disgusting service.

Delicious and unusual brunch. Such a refreshing change for Melbourne. There are no GF bread options which is a shame as the meal I had really needed an accompaniment.

The food here is absolutely delicious. The service lovely and atmosphere buzzy. Perfect brunch or lunch place. Love it here.
