A group of seven of us arrived around midday for food and drinks. So refreshing to find fresh and interesting food that was absolutely delicious. Borek, cake and baclava were all devoured. Despite being a fairly large group service was quick and efficient. We will be back and would definitely recommend.

Great tasting food, however, very small portions for the price. A juice, coffee and a salad (very, very small portion for $22) was $36.13.

Amazing food, full of favour! Definitely stop by if you are tired of the standard brunch place. Staff is really considerate too.

Tasty food but weird vibe in the cafe. Staff standing around in the kitchen talking to each other while there’s plates of uneaten food out on the tables. The server was super unprofessional serving the customer in front of me, and when I asked for my potato salad to be heated up I was told it’s not possible (definitively possible to heat it up, I might add!) I’m not usually one to post negative reviews but i had a strange experience.

Edit - Twas also v pricey for what you get.

Saw the manager dipped her hand on the coleslaw salad for the chicken sandwich without gloves and eating the ones that fell off. It was interesting especially in the food business.

Nice coffee, but desserts are too sweet for our liking. Baked eggs with feta and lamb were tasty.

I stepped into this place and really loud 50 cent song was being played. I thought a salad would be nice, but they looked all dried and unappetising. So, I went and got a toastie and a coffee as a takeaway. Now, I am sitting with a toastie with giant slices of bread and after just one bite I realised how dry it is - trying to fix it with some mayo, etc. I don't understand why this place has 4+ rating on Google. The toasties at Greensleeves cafe are way way better - I blame my lazy self for not walking to Dench or Greensleeves. Anyhow, never again.
P. S. - Everyone in the cafe seemed to be in a weird, bad mood.

P. P. S - Just read some reviews while picking out chicken from my toastie to leave behind the slabs of dry bread. Reviewers have mentioned maggots, staff not understanding what food allergies, and racism. Whoa!

I was once a regular here but will never return. On Friday I ordered four salads online for collection the next day. On collection, my partner went, a staff member told him no one had done the online orders.
Clearly they didn’t have or couldn’t be bothered making what I had ordered, and paid for, from their website because all except for one of the salads were wrong and the one they did get right, a rice salad, appeared days old and the container only 3/4 full. Because they didn’t follow the order, I couldn’t serve three of the salads to my guests with dietaries. I called to speak to the manager who was rude and unhelpful. She made excuses saying their salads change daily even they offer three set ones to order online, with all ingredients listed. These in previous experiences have never before changed. I asked for the correct ones to be delivered, because my partner and I didn’t have a car and both needed to get ready for work, and she flatly refused. I asked for a refund and she became aggressive and said she’d do it at the end of her working day, like I was a nuisance and she was too busy and important. I’ve wasted $80 on food I can’t serve now to a majority of guests, and that looks mediocre, mushy, oily and old, at best.

Still waiting on the refund, and I believe the manager was only prepared to offer it for one salad, not the entire order that quite obviously was wrong and had not been prepared for scheduled pick up.

I’ve never received such poor customer service anywhere. On top of the time and money wasted here, I now have to go elsewhere to get food for an imminent function with no notice.

Regular no more. Don’t waste your time or money.

Only got two croissant but there were very underwhelming. First of all they were quite dry, second they didn't have a very rich taste. The price is not surprising regarding the market but for what it was I would never go back to pay $4.50 for that kind of croissant. Service was okay.

The exposed wood and woody tinged bluey-green tiles… totally lured in by aesthetics of the building and the space. Half of the realestate inside is dedicated to pantry items but it adds character and certainly keeps you entertained while you wait in the queue. There’s a pretty large selection of food on offer, it all matches the middle-eastern/ Mediterranean cuisine. Like the space it looks authentic and like there is passion behind it. The selection of salads I opted for did not disappoint, two of them were remarkably good, roasted hazelnuts still brittlely crunchy - you could tell the meal was super fresh. The simit on this occasion was underwhelming, but the cabbage roll was very good. Not super cheap, but the staff were friendly, and I finished the meal very satisfied. Would return and would recommend.

ORDERED:
?   ?    Falafel roll, Beetroot salad and a mushroom borek ($17.97pp)

REVIEW:
Babajan Eatery have a number of limited tables outside, and I don't think there's dining service.
More of an order-at-the-counter, then they'll find you outside kind of vibe. This also means you need to grab your own cutlery.
In saying that, they do provide you with 'dine in' plates in order to minimise waste.

The food was at Babajan was great. All incredibly packed with flavour and our selection somehow managed to be all vegetarian.
The pastry was flaky for both the borek and the fafel roll. The roll had an incredible buttery decadence to it. Beetroot salad was perfectly put together with kale, grains and pumpkins. Such a great combination. All delicious.
Can definitely see why there's people are continuously coming in. Unfortunately, their iconic menemen eggs were sold out when we came at 12: 40pm: (So get in while you can!

I came here a couple months ago for the first time after a big event I’d hosted the night before, and was really keen to get a good brunch. I got thru most of my lamb sandwich before noticing there were literal maggots falling out of it. I’m not someone who likes to leave bad reviews on places, so I spoke to a staff member and then the manager about it to attempt to find a resolution, and she was so shocked about what had happened that she seemed unwilling to take responsibility. I left my name and contact details and she promised she’d investigate through the supply chain and would be in touch with me. I’ve heard nothing and it’s been months. I was sick for a few days after eating there and really couldn’t afford to be too. Would never go back.

I don't know if we came too early but we were there for breakfast and there was pretty much no choice. Staff was nice and what we got was good though.

Too expensive for what it is. Twice I’ve grabbed something quick on the run and been disappointed. Tiny piece (deck of cards size) of filo with a few tiny bits of lamb and potato $8-$9. Double the size it would be justified and reasonable.

Horrible Experience. We waited for over 30 minutes for breaky and my chai late which was so called "brewing" never came out, funny though, they managed to brew 10 people's coffee after my order though. I had a 10 minute conversation with the lady taking our order about how I'm allergic to nuts (not that she had a clue, she was using the spoon to sift through the food in the display to see what did/didn't have nuts in it instead of confirming with the chef!) and of course when my eggs finally came out, they came out with nuts on top. When asking the man who served us if they were nuts on top, we received a smart arse response "Well yeah, it's Dukkah it comes with it, did you tell the lady you were allergic? ". When I said yes he took the plate away and said "Ok then I'll just go throw it away and get you another", rudely. But thank you sir for offering to pay for one of the drinks that did come out and some cookies which probably also had nuts in them!

This place has changed for the worse. Now cabinet food only. Food has good flavours, but a sandwich can’t even be toasted when there’s a whole kitchen sitting behind the counter? Not for me but good luck.

Best lunch spot in Carlton North. Staff are super friendly and coffee is also excellent. Highly recommend.
