Ayam Penyet Ria reviews
38One of the better Indonesian restaurants located in Melbourne. Plenty of space at this restaurant and pretty child friendly. Can't get enough of the Iga Penyet!
Best place to find indonesian food. Cute robot assist. The taste is auhentic. Good vibes. Well priced. Always table available. Staff very nice.
Ate here on a Monday night with the family and was pleasantly surprised with the food and service. The stand outs were the whole fried fish and satay skewers. Unfortunately they must have run out of vegetables for the Gado Gado salad and we got a lot of steamed lettuce instead. The different types of chilli sambals were fantastic. It was also the first time we had a robot serve us out food. Will be back for sure.
I really like the chicken and spicey sauce.it is the first time to try Indonesian food and i recommend everyone here
Left feeling underwhelmed.
There was a mix up with our order with another table. The waitress put down all the dishes and I advised this wasn't what we ordered. I showed her our receipt and she took all the plates away except the rice, which was on our order. So we just had a plate of rice sitting there while waiting for our food to come.
Our entree and one main arrived. Both were warm and didn't taste fresh. By the time we had almost finished our other main had finally arrived.
Overall the food is was average.
My first ever Indonesian meal, thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. Delicious meal, very clean, polite staff and fist time ever served by a robot. Great day out! Thank you.
Chilli is great and spicy. Rendang is well marinated. Chicken bakar is nice too. Mee soto is great when u mix the chilli in.
Overpriced for very small portion and it looks dirty inside besides from that food was good.
Taste is good, but prices got significantly increased and they also reduced the portion size, which is not great.
Just here for a casual lunch. First went here it took almost 30 to 45 minutes for the food to be served to our table also forgot few things of what we've ordered. It was understandable at first because the shop was recently opened at that time.
Then on another occassion i was there again for lunch, ordered Bebek Penyet and after 15 mins they said the rice isn't ready yet, they were offering me for refund or wait for another 15 mins. I ordered bakso too then again i waited almost 40 minutes this time, they also forgot to make our drinks.
I gave 2 stars, because i know there's always a room improvement.
7.30pm. Close too early because too busy the people from kitchen said. Can't take order. They say sorry for close early. But don't pickup the call 4 times before just to let people know. Wasting time just come here. Please just close the restaurant if don't want to do business. Thanks.
Still one of the best ayam penyet in town.definitely need to come here and try them out if you're in Melbourne
Had dinner with some friends. Immediately felt it was very quiet with some Indo music in the background. I was expecting a waiter to sit us at a table. But no, we just walk in and sit down at any table. It was clean all around.
There's a QR code you scan and it'll take you to their website where you can order. Pay by card obviously. The waiter will occasionally come out and you can order directly with cash.
I had chicken rissole, bakso, satay and soda gembira. Food came out in less than 30min and was delivered by a robot. That's cool! The chicken rissole was delicious! Crunchy outside and filled with soft delicious chicken and veggies. The sauce that came with it just made it even better! Next was the bakso. Presentation reminded me of Indo, but I was surprised when it was served lukewarm which was disappointing. There were a couple of meatballs, some tofu and crackers. The broth wasn't bad, but I've had way better. The broth tasted almost like they put MSG in it like the cheap Indomie noodles.anyways the bakso is not the best. Next up was the satay. It was super yummy! The meat was cooked well and the peanut sauce was on point. I highly recommend this. The soda gembira is my childhood favourite. It was great too!
Overall, the food is great (except the bakso). I'd come back again and try their other dishes. Price is definitely high, but I think they deliver good quality food and portion size is OK (but not generous). The soda drinks are expensive though. I reckon I could make a few glasses at home with $5.
Really authentic Indonesian comfort food! Even better than most places in Indonesia I think. Iga penyet is definitely one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Soto betawi is also delicious. No doubt 5 stars.
Tucked away amongst a bevvy is Vietnamese restaurants is this Indonesian gem. I can't fault the food or authentic Indonesian flavours but the servings are small. The prices are on the high side if you take into account you pay extra if you want it served with plain white rice. I work close bye and would love to lunch there regularly but pricing exceeds my lunch budget. Why not a range of lunch specials or meals served on rice? Considering its location in Preston, quite surprising and novel to find a robot 'waiter' delivering the food to your table.
The best indonesian restaurant by far in Melbourne. The sambal is definitely very authentic.could not fault the ayam grepek. Food served really fast (and they have robot waiter to deliver the food). Pricing is reasonable for food served.
Everything is just perfect.customer service is great, very friendly guy. Premises is really clean. Will be coming back.
Foods in photo are:
1. Ayam Grepek (the fried chicken, they include fried tofu, fried tempeh and sambal - its just heavenly). Fyi, the sambal is quite spicy, but YUMMY.
2. Soto Ayam (The chicken soup).
3. Chicken risoles.
4. The drink i cant remember the name (its coke mix with condensed milk) and the prepack called Teh kotak (can never go wrong with this tea).
Loved it! Great Indonesian food at affordable prices and wheelchair friendly with ample space inside the dining area with easy ramp access to the restaurant. Dine in take away or uber delivery to your home. Very delicious and spicy Indon food
Ordered bakso and ayam bakar (grilled chicken), it tasted fairly good. Could have give it 5 if they have nasi goreng (fried rice) on the menu. Indonesia restaurant without fried doesn't seem add up.
The food is fantastic - genuine indonesian style, and the service is pretty fast.
However, there are jo hot drinks at all. How difficult would it be to provide tea?
This place got us through vic lockdown. We were so excited when we heard they were in Preston. Back in the day, we’d always made the trip to South Melbourne whenever we have Ayam Penyet cravings. Plus this joint here is a lot more spacious. More importantly the food here is bomb! Iga bakar is a personal favourite of ours. Keep making great indon cuisine!
